On the anniversary of his death, tell us, what is your favorite Elvis song.

Mine is "Little Sister." Something about those guitar riffs.

<gasp> Shelley! No you didn't! Elvis is a cultural icon for us!

My Elvis favorite is Blue Christmas. No one sings that song the way he did.

LOVE the way Elvis' "Blue Christmas" starts!!! No one has ever put that many syllables in the word "I'll."

Here is a little Elvis story for you. I had a family reunion in South Bend many years ago. When we checked into the hotel my sister yelled that there was Elvis by the pool. Sure enough I walked by and Elvis was in a speedo lounging by the pool. Before I could call Star magazine to report an Elvis sighting I saw another Elvis swimming. This one, thankfully, was not wearing a speedo. Anyway we continued to see multiple Elvi lounging and walking aroung the hotel until we finally figured out that we were in the midst of an Elvis impersonators convention. It was hysterical. That night they actually had a little "concert" so they could strut their stuff. I swear every single one of the sang "Suspicious Mind". That has been my "favorite" Elvis song ever since just because it reminds me of that weekend.

I'm pretty much an agnostic, but my Grandma's favorite song was "How Great Thou Art." Elvis did a wonderful version of that song, and it makes me think of her. He was quite the underrated gospel singer.

Okay, for the "other Elvis" it would be "Radio, Radio." Although DH's sister and husband named their daughter "Alison" after Elvis' song. (And, yes, they've listened to the words and, no, they are never telling her that's where her name came from!)

Return to Sender, only because my DH, at the request of a couple visiting from Japan, sang it in a karaoke bar at Disney World :7. I'm not sure why, but the Japanese really seem to love the King:7

Michele,

That's my second favorite song...those profound lyrics: "So when I dropped it in the mailbox, I sent it 'Special D.'"

That and "I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree" from "All Shook Up" just slay me! Fuzzy tree? Is that like an elm?:p
