Lindsey Lohan on the Today show

I know that this might sound stupid, but I watched Lindsey Lohan this morning (and yesterday morning too) on the Today show and she down right *annoyed* me! Basically, she spoke on both days, but more so today, about how annoying it is to be in the public eye, to have her family’s life disturbed, to deal with the paparazzi, to quash the rumors, to have the pressures of fame, etc. While I totally agree with her that it must be difficult to grow up in that and I know that she recently met with a very disturbing case of paparazzi fever (where they nearly ran her off of the road!), she certainly gets the benefits of the bargain. She chose this life and even if she didn’t b/c she was a child and her parents chose it for her, she agreed as an adult to continue it more recently. And one other thing…she has every ability to leave that life whenever she desires! Don’t you agree? Or an I being petty?

Christine :)

I agree with you completely. If you're going to put yourself out there in the public eye, then you must know that there are certain issues you're going to have to deal with. So deal with them.

She didn't annoy me that much, although I do agree with you. She did choose this life. There are many extremely talented celebrities--Jodie Foster comes to mind--who chose to be entertainers but still maintain their privacy. Seems to me if you don't want to be stalked by papparazzi you wouldn't be out clubbing every night w/the Hilton sisters.

I agree too. She was on with David Letterman last night too. She bothers me. I love the Herbie movies and I want to see this one too but I am afraid she will just ruin it for me. I love Disney movies! LOL!

Christine, Funny, I just watched that interview, and was thinking the same thing. She was also on Letterman last night, with the same stories. It's hard to feel sympathy for her when you get the impression that somehow she goes out of her way to be in the spot light. Did I say that right? That's not to say that she deserves to be run off the road or other negetive things the paparazzi does. But to answer your question. Yes, I found her annoying too!

I cracked up when David asked her if she worked out and what she did. She only answered with "Not much - I don't like to run. Oh, I lift weights - but not much."

I think we should also blame this one on Paris.

LOL! Just crackin' up and agreeing with this whole thread. And I liked her so much in Mean Girls, I think that was her absolute best work. If you notice in that movie too, when they do the Christmas routine, her thighs are relatively normal size (what a normal teenager looks like), but now she looks super little. It doesn't fit her to me. It's like she lost a little too much weight. Boy oh boy, Blame it on Paris......

Don't laugh. I loved her in the Parent Trap. Actually I just like the Parent Trap. She was cute when she was little. Now she's just another child star grown up. Boo hoo. I don't pay much attention to her anymore. It's all Paris' fault:p Kali

Actually what annoys me the most about Ms. Lohan is that she makes films targeted to a largely female audience aged between 8-15 and she recently chose to become such an advertsiament for good health by reducing the size of her healthy body to a thin state that does not suit her and by dyeing her gorgeous red hair blonde, which makes her look anaemic and totally unoriginal.

Some kind of message of "self-acceptance" and "standing out in your own originality" that girl is sending out to our girls, huh?

I actually feel sorry for her. DON'T FLAME ME, PLEASE!

She grew up in the spotlight and in front of a camera. She has never had a childhood and she really doesn't know any other life than the one she is living. She is probably also incredibly spoiled by her manager, parents, etc... Her whole life she has been living in a world where she is told how great she is and how she can't do anything wrong. Granted, I am not taking any responsibility away from her, she can still make her own decisions. But I would hate being followed around by photographers just for a story to get caught messing up. I never understood the obsession with celebrity and I hate the paparazzi.

That being said, I do NOT want her as a role model for my daughter (I am very happy she likes the clothed Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff, thank you!!!) and I think she is fake and phony, I agree with you all there. But I do still feel sorry for her. She needs a good therapist. AND SHE NEEDS TO STAY AWAY FROM THAT HILTON GIRL!!!

Any bets on how long Paris Hilton will stay married to Paris(if the wedding goes through at all)??

Stupid Paris(es).

Angie

I think she's done a lot lately just to BE in the spotlight.

I used to think she was a talented actress, and very pretty, but then she went blond (why? Aren't there enough blonds around? It doesn't even look good with her coloring. Her natural reddish-brown was unique and beautiful) and lost way too much weight (previously, I thought she would be a good role-model for teen and pre-teen girls because she didn't have a stick-thin body).

That doesn't decrease her talent any, but it does make me think less of her.

It will last until people stop talking about it, then she will move on to something/someone else to get the cameras back on her. Why can't I stand her?????

I really liked her in Parent Trap, Mean Girls and Freaky Friday.

I think she is losing too much weight now though, and that fame is going to her head a bit. I've read that she can be mean to people asking for autographs and such.

She allegedly went blond b/c in her next movie she plays Meryl Streep's daughter & she wanted to look more like her. Can't tell you if it's true or not.

Missy, you just described Jodie Foster's life to a T & as I said in my other post, she's managed to stay out of the limelight. I really think it's a personal choice & Linsey has chosen to be a celebrity party girl. It's OK if that's what she wants, but she shouldn't whine about it.

Oh & I'm not flaming you, it's nice that you have sympathy for her. :)

I think that's a lovely attitude. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all tried to look at things that way? If we all tried to see the other person's point of view, tried to imagine actually being that person, before (or instead of) judging him/her? I think you're on the right track and I, for one, am going to try to be more like that myself. Thank you for the thought of the day.

Shari

Well, I consider myself fairly nonjudgmental, but I no longer like LL at all. I think the Hollywood thing has gone way to her head.

This reminds me of Jessica Simpson. I really liked her when she was different from the rest of the Hollywood rat pack... but she conformed, as they all do, and now she is stick thin and constantly in the tabloids.

I guess it must be very harsh to live in the constant limelight, but like folks here said, they do seem to act in ways that guarantee they are front-page fodder...

Marie

I feel sorry for her too, she HAS to be anorexic thin to compete for work. If that wasn't what was required, they all wouldn't do it. Also, the paparrazi is doing more than just chasing her and almost running her off the road. They showed pictures of her bashed up car on The View today, paparrazi bashed right into her in an effort to get a rise out of her and capture the first photos. Sick, very sick.

I think right now she is just trying to promote her new movie and we all know what great lengths stars are going through to promote their latest flick. "Tom to marry Katie...Brad and Angelina, are they or aren't they?" Anything to promote the picture!

Yeah I told my daughter last night that I like Hilary Duff better than Lindsey Lohan. I don't have nothing against her of course, but she has always acted a little wilder than Hilary.
