Lifting like girls

Lisa, I love XTrain legs. Probably in my top 3 of Cathe's.
Thanks for the 4ds mention- I hardly ever pull these out, so I did one yesterday. I haven't done flyes in a while, so I'll probably have to remain in a sports bra for a couple of days!!!

Tom, that sounds a good workout. Keeping arms straight with side laterals is no mean feat. Did you celebrate st Patrick's day? We didn't - no Irish blood, and I'm off the booze. Could murder a black velvet, though. ;)

Lib, you always impress me with how much you do.

HTS today. Final week of month 4- but another 2 months after this. Apparently the volume ramps up. Again.

Karen, still KBs?

Roz, hope alls well X

Happy Day After all! Justine, really didn't celebrate, just wore a green shirt so I wouldn't get pinched!(although us old guys love ANY kind of attention!) Today I "tippy toed" into curl land! Really light and hi rep. It was arm day and I did 5x10 on tri pushdowns, then 2x8 reverse curls with oly bar only, and it didn't feel real good, so I tried some dumbbell curls with 20's and it was tolerable so I went 4x12. Next were kickbacks, 3x15 and 1x20,(30#). I tried some conc curls with 20's, and the right I did 1x12, but stopped at 2 on the left and finished bi's with my old standby, short rom isos, 3x30. Next were some hanging forearm work, 3x25 and finished with diamond pushups x25 x20. Off to ice "me self". Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Whoa, Justine, I'd forgotten HTS was 6 months! I admire your dedication. IDK if I could stick with something that long! Off the booze b/c of RP? How's that going? Hope your sports bra is helping you cope with the aftermath from those flyes!

Tom, my DH did NOT wear green yesterday. He figured he was safe since he works with a bunch of nerdy, male (straight) engineers. Nobody was gonna pinch him except me, and I think I gave him some bruises on his arms from pinching. Exciting that you were able to do some curls! Feeling OK?

Cardio today, did KCM's Ready Step Go. Probably will do a metabolic or TB Live tomorrow. That seems to be my Saturday pattern.

Waves to all my Commando pals! TGIF!

Yeah, 6 months of HTS, Lisa! Not quite as bad as it sounds, as it changes a lot every month, so I'm only doing each workout 4x. I'm getting scared about the ramp up in the final furlong, though.
And, yes, I'm not drinking because of RP- although I reserve the right to cheat over Easter!
RP does seem to be working, though, at least in terms of my workouts. I was doing deadlift triples today (5 sets) and 105kg went up smoothly. I'm happy with that (I'm inching towards a 2x bw). Glad Roz isn't here to put me to shame, though!

Tom, watch you don't curl too soon. Batter to wait and get that elbow fully sorted. What's all this pinching for not wearing green? I've not heard of that!!!

I'm off to a quiz tonight- hopefully I won't fall asleep through workout exhaustion! I'm feeling ready for a day off.....

Have a fab weekend everyone xx

Justine, I'm glad HTS is working for you. 4x/week isn't bad and all that change w/the workouts has got to help. Terrific deads today!!! I think you're entitled to a drink or two over Easter. Holidays are exceptions to rigid rules, IMO. Pinching is the punishment in the U.S. for those sorry souls who don't wear green on St. Patrick's Day. What is this "quiz" tonight? Another one of your trivia parties?

I did my favorite RWH premix, and probably one of my most fave Cathe premixes ever today: RWH UB Circuit + Abs premix. I love the way it cycles between compound moves, cardio blasts, core, and start all over again. I can't believe I haven't done one single Live this week. I go through phases. Last week all I did was Live workouts.

Lib, hope things are going OK in your training. Happy weekend to the rest of you!!! I'll be back Monday.

Hi Commandos! Justine, it must be a "States thing", or maybe a Midwest thing I don't know, but it has always been that as long as I remember! No pinches here! Sounds like your program is really kicking your deads into warp drive..great work on all those triples!! Today I did my "core thing" with deadlifts, I am going to start doing those on Sat to avoid being shot for leg day. It was a great dead day, and I wasn't expecting it. I had another PR at 325#, again not fast but completed, I did 205x5 255x3 305x2 325x1 255x8 (all of these conventional) and finished deads with 255x8 (sumo). X 8's are LONG sets for me and my heart rate really showed it! Next I did some glute bridges 255 3x25, crunches x50, side planks (1 minute each side) and cable crunches x25 x20. Feels good to get a good Sat w/o in!! Have a great weekend friends!!

Super quick check in, this week has been .......wow, intense, unexpected, long, high stress, informative, and more. I did not workout Friday as scheduled, and yesterday was so intense (domestic violence training aspect) that I went straight to bed after I got home. Today is the last day. I will workout tomorrow, after trying to catch up on sleep.

I can imagine domestic violence training being intense. Sometimes working out just isn't happening. The DVDs will be there for you tomorrow.

Tom great pr on the dead. You keep knocking them down!!

Cardio / off for me today- I did IMAX 2 . Lisa, I can cope with the choreography on this one!!!!

Last nights quiz was in the village hall (a charity thing) and our team won. Yay!!

Welcome to Spring Sistas!! I had a good chest day today and feel like I am really getting stronger on these lifts. I was looking back on my log, and I am finishing the low end of my chest pyramids where I used to peak at! Today I worked up to a double at 205#, then dropped to 185x5, 175x8x5. I wasn't able to max at that point previously! I then did inclined bench, doing 3x8 at 145# and 9x7 at 135#. I finished with 1 set of pushups x20. Kinda "stoked" on how bench is coming! Hope today is wonderful for everyone (but it is Monday)!!

Tom, you're pulling some great numbers! Cool on the PRs and isn't it amazing how the heavy weights spike the HR? Great work, my friend.

Justine, congrats on the quiz team victory! I bet you are fun at parties, all that quiz knowledge. I love talking to people who know loads of random tidbits. Imax 2 is one of the workouts I hope Cathe would repeat on DVD, well I guess it would be Imax 4, but I would love another dance-y and not-over-the-top Imax. The music is fun, the moves are great. Sorry about today's disappointment with your bench.

Lib, ugh, domestic violence is indeed a weighty subject. Sounds like you learned a lot and that you needed a rest. Hope this week is a bit lighter in terms of your work and school loads.

I did RWH Back Shoulders Biceps today. I was rocking it until the last exercise, simultaneous hammer curls. I totally pooped out on those, but at least I finished!!!

YES to SPRING! This is my fave time of year. Longer days of sunshine and warmer weather. Whoo-hoo!

Top Of Tuesday Ladies! Today for me was "lat day". which consisted of 2 excercises, lat pulldowns and dumbbell rows. On lat pulls I upped the weight 10# and did 8x8. On rows I did 70's 2x10 and it was ok. I then finished with some ab work, crunches, 1x50, 1 min side plans and cable crunches, 2x25. When I started doing these I was doing sets of 8-10, and now sets of 25...progress!! Best f Tuesday to all!

Good morning all! Last night I started phase 3 of Kettlebell Burn, 15 minutes of snatches. Ladders of 3, up and down the ladder. Used a 16kg KB. This was a heart racer. Next was TGU,15 minutes AMRAP, with excellent form. Start over if you falter. These are getting easier, but another heart racer. Used 16kg. The finisher, was 10 minutes of one hand swings, 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off. Switching hands after each set, 24kg. Very metabolic. Everything was on fire, when I finished.
Have a great day, everyone! Keep up the great work!
Still busy at work. Hope to post more later.

Chest and back done. I pulled out my 30's for back.....interesting.....I remember when I was so thrilled to lift 10's and 15's for back!

Question can I add yoga this month? Or should I wait until I'm finished with mesocycle 3? I'm talking adding it 3 days a week.

Yes, this week will be better. Thankfully as I honk I caught someone's cold. Ugh. Actually, our school has Thursday and Friday listed as "Spring Holiday " so I am going to work on my final projects, and that will finish my internship completely!

Sorry I haven't been able to keep up on your posts. :(

Karen, I'm out of breath just reading that.....
I bet you're leaning out like crazy.

Lib, I'd think adding in yoga would be a good idea. Cortisol lowering, and you get to work out all those knots. Great improvement on the back work!

Tom, sets of 25 anything is amazing.

I finished month 4 of HTS today. My 6 rep paused front squat (5 secs a2g), is the weight I could not get to parallel with during my last round of STS. I have to keep reminding myself. I've spotted 'high rep front squats' are scheduled for later this week, though...

Hi Lisa! Miss you Roz!!!!

Justine, eek! Paused squats today and high rep front squats later this week? You're in for it! ;)

Lib, yeah, what Justine said: yoga is great, especially the stretch-you-out yoga. I need to do more of it myself, so like I'm one to talk!

Tom, nice workout and great advancement on those cable crunches!

Karen, glad to see you, good work on stage 3 of your KBs!

Roz, HUGS!!!

Today I did Lean & Mean Legs Live (8/17/14). Like a stupid idiot I added on the floorwork from XTrain Legs. This was a fab combo!

Lemonade from lemons! No part of my cadaver body wanted to be there, but then again it was leg day! I have been working three in a row the last couple of weeks and I think getting up before 5 to wo is wearing on me. Anyway I did get thru a pretty good w/o working up in 20# increments from 115# to 215#, sets of 5 reps and finishing at 175# 2x10. Then I did 2x8 dumbbell reverse lunges and 1x15 static lunges. For lower leg, barbell calf raises ,175x30 x20 x20 and 1 set x20 donkey presses without weight. I know my squats need to be deeper, and I think I will try to work on that maybe next time....manyana!! (sp?) Ready for a little sleeping in. us old retires need our rest!! Happy Hump Day Commandos!!

Dang, Tom, those are terrific stats for a pre-5am leg workout. I thought your working for 3 days in a row schedule was only last week? Did you get on somebody's bad side at the prison office? :)

Hi to my other Commando friends!

Today I did Step Heat from wayyyyyy back in the day. I rarely do this one so when the urge strikes I must go for it. Good day to everyone!

I love preworkout formula! Lmao! After PIYO alignment- I rearranged the entire living room, swept, mopped, and dusted even, cleaned the bathroom, did almost all the laundry, did homework, then cleaned the kitchen....

Then crashed about an hour before class :(. Still made it though.

Tomorrow is legs....l.plyo is not my friend....but it will get me stronger!
