I have the pretty red LG steam washer and the matching dryer. For the price, I didn't expect to have to pat the darn thing down after every use, but it's kept the smell away 
. I wipe down the rubber ring where the door seals, empty the water out of the soap dispenser and leave the door cracked - takes like 2 minutes at the end of your wash day. No issues at all with smell.
One thing I will tell you is to ensure that you have a solid floor. We have ours on the first floor over a basement and ended up putting some cross support beams in 'cause these things spin at really high speeds.
My water and electricity bills have gone down a bit.. I don't have to use a lot of detergent anymore either.
