Lex:
I'm the one who took you up on your suggestion of the Kundalini Yoga and I wanted to give you an update!

I got it on the day before my birthday and decided to use it the day OF my birthday...and it was WONDERFUL...

Now, mind you, this was my first yoga tape EVER...so I really had no idea what to expect. But I felt so relaxed afterwards and calm and peaceful....I can't put my finger on it, it was just such a serene feeling. It was almost like an "inner workout" as opposed to an "outer workout". I guess it has to do with the breathing and all...

At first, I felt like I was getting dizzy with all the turning back and forth at the beginning...but I gradually got used to it and "experienced" that flying sensation.

Anyway, just wanted to thank you for a great recommendation!

Terri

Hey, thank you for letting me know that you got the tape, did it and enjoyed it. You never really know, when making a recommendation, if the person you are recommending to will like it as much as you do, you know? But somehow I feelt like anyone who enjoys stretching, deep breathing and certain meditative aspect would love Kundalini. I know it sounds corny, but there does seem to be some kind of magic in it or to it.

Don't you love Gurmukh? At first I was surprised by her voice, she sounds like a college cheerleader on valium or something, but it quickly becomes very soothing and even addictive. I wish everyone sounded so relaxed. And she's a great teacher. One of these days I'll get my stuff together and go to a live class of hers. The school isn't far from where I live in LA.

And your post has inspired me to do that tape again tomorrow. I screwed my neck up sleeping funny and it was so bad yesterday and today I couldn't do any kind of workout. But tomorrow I'll do Kundalini and then get back to the rotation Monday. (My honey and I are in LA and will be going solo this Christmas, so I'll have plenty of time.)

Anyway, I am SOOO glad, and relieved, that you liked it as much as I had hoped. It's the kind of thing that's hard to explain to someone, you just have to feel it for yourself.

Happy Holidays Terri!

Lex:
What I couldn't believe, Lex, is that she's only 58 years old! She looks 30-35! (I think it's all that deep breathing!!!)

Terri

yeah, that knocked me on my butt too. It's partially from the breathing, partially the way she eats (a very clean vegetarian diet), partially the daily activity and of course, the power of mind over matter is no joke.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

RE: I got dizzy!

Hi guys,
Sorry for barging in, but I did this tape for the first time today and I got really, really dizzy! It was when you have your arms out to the sides and your turning your head from side to side. She was said pretend you are on a ride, I sure felt like I was. Did any of you get dizzy? I love yoga and I do it 3 times a week and my friend borrowed this tape to me and I am absolutely fascinated with it. I want to keep doing it, but not if I keep getting dizzy. I will also do this tape when no one else is around (I feel silly when I stick out my tounge and pant)
I do like her teaching though. Her voice is so soothing. I guess I will keep working on it. Take care!

RE: I got dizzy!

I can see why the dizziness would happen and why that would be bothersome. I didn't really have that problem, but maybe if you did it with your eyes open and kept lookng forward with just the rest of the body moving? That could be a way to start doing it and then maybe working up to the way she does it. Just a suggestion. Not every "pose" has to be exactly like she does it, just listen to what your body tells you and respect that and progress at your own pace. But I'm glad it's caught your attention. It is a really unique experience, isn't it? I love that. I always love new, cool things. I'll admit, some of the stuff seems silly if other people are around, but you'll get used to that too.

Have a wonderful Christmas! Be healthy and happy and warm!

RE: I got dizzy!

Thanks Lex,
I am going to do that tape today after my workout (with my eyes open). I didn't watch the tape first because I do Yoga on a regular basis, so maybe that is why I was laughing out loud about the panting. I definetly want to do this tape. My back felt so much better after just 1 time. I mean this tape is fascinating!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I got a barbell for Christmas and I am going to try it out today. Yeah!!! I have been wanting one for so long. Take Care!
Christine

RE: I got dizzy!

Awesome Christmas gift, that must have been hard to wrap! I have to go pick up some heavier dumbells this week, I'm outgrowing my old ones! I love it.

I'm glad you guys are all digging the Kundalini thing. Of you want a slightly different approach to it, get Chakra Yoga with Gurutej Kaur, too. I have both and they both teach Kundalini and are both great instructors, but just a slightly different approach or personality. You learn a lot about your Chakras, too.

Have fun with your new barbell! Makes you feel pretty tough and cool, doesn't it?

RE: I got dizzy!

Thanks Lex<
My barbell rocks. No one bothered to wrap it, they just kept it hidden and when they pulled it out I screamed for joy. Right now my favorite Yoga tape is Yoga for Athletes by Rodney Yee. It great for every tight muscle you can think of. Yoga has been my best friend since my injury and this Kundalini yoga will help me take it to another level. I did get dizzy again though, which is weird. Hopefully I will get used to it. The yoga I usually do is more like static poses rather than moving around. I will conquer this tape!!! That is my challenge now!! Take care.
Christine

RE: I got dizzy!

Yeah, you'll get used to it, I'm sure. I'm glad you've been using yoga to keep strong after your injury, that shows great intelligence and diligence on your part.

Happy Holidays!

RE: I got dizzy!

Hi! From all the wonderful posts I just had to get Kundalini Yoga and WOW! I just previewed it and I can't wait to try it. It is a welcomed difference from other yoga tapes. Thanks for suggesting it Lex!

RE: I got dizzy!

You are very welcome. I know some of it seems weird, but believe me, you'll love it.

Enjoy!

RE: I got dizzy!

Hope I'm not butting in here, but what exactly is the name of the video you all are talking about?I typed "kundalini yoga" into the search on Collage but didn't find it.

Hi KZN!

I just found the Kundalini with Gurmukh (Gurmukh is the female instructor) video at our Target. It was $9.99 Do you have those nearby? I haven't had a chance to do it yet so I can't really tell you much. Just thought I'd share that with you if you want to pick it up rather then order it. Good Luck! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Hi KZN!

Thank you!!! Yes,fortunately there is a Target nearby..think I will try to swing by there!!THANKS!!:D

RE: Hi KZN!

I don't usually order from Collage, I got both my Kundalini tapes on amazonc.com

But I also saw it at Target, which is another favorite store of mine. And Kundalini with Gurmukh is the one we have been chatting about. That, and Chakra Yoga, I love them both.

RE: Hi KZN!

I've been thinking about getting this tape from Target but how long is the workout on this tape? When I do Yoga I usually like to keep the workouts shorter. I have a hard time dedicating an hour to Yoga. Also what the difference between Kundalini Yoga and some of the Living Arts Yoga tapes like A.M./P.M. or Yoga for Weight Loss?
