Levitation Holds

Okay, just needed to share.
My 7 year old DD can do these, I'm so jealous. I asked her how and she said they're easy mom!! - LOL

I HATE THEM! I don't know how ANYONE can manage to do them!!! x(

I hate pikes on the ball too...can't do them either! ;(

Heck...I could come up with a list a mile long of Cathe moves I hate simply because I can't do them! :p

You should ask your daughter to teach ya how it's done! :+

It's so cute when they can figure it out faster than their moms, isn't it?:)

twosquared, try using other hand positions. I can't do the levitation holds if I use Cathe's. I followed Jai's and can do them well that way. Hope this helps.

My 5-yr-old daughter can do them too! She can also bang out quite a few push-ups with good form. No fair!!!

My 7 year old can do them. So can my 31 year old SO. I finally figured it out one day after playing with the hand position SO much and getting frustrated. It's still hard, but I can get of the floor now:)

I can't do them, but my husband and two of my kids can do them. I don't even try anymore - I'll never get them.

Hahaha! My facial expression in that picture just kills me. That is a bad picture! I need to work on that hold some more. :)

You can bet I asked her how she did them. First she does use a different hand position she puts her hands indside her legs. I showed her Cathe's position outside the legs, of course she did this to and said it was much easier.

Then she told me it is easier to do on the wood floor vs. the basement carpet which is where I work out. I tried and got a small very brief lift!!!

I guess I can say I finally got it!!!!

Thanks all for listeining.

>Hahaha! My facial expression in that picture just kills me.

I can't decide whether it's a "yikes, these are hard!" look, or a "I can do these...and YOu can't!" look. LOL!

I found I can do these with no problem on the patient table in my acupuncturist's office (in a "seated" position rather than a cross-legged position).

Does anyone feel like you're arms aren't long enough when you try these? I can do them if I lean forward a bit.

Can someone explain these to me? I just stare at the screen commenting on how crazy Cathe is, then skip to the next exercise. It looks like it would place incredible strain on your hands and wrists, and I don't understand how it helps the abs. I'm obviously missing something - help!

I woke up this morning dreaming about these things!! I've never done that before. I was dreaming that I was trying to do them off the stairs for some reason.... By butt was off the edge of one step, while my hands were on that step. If I recall, it was working :D

In my yoga class, we have been attempting these with yoga blocks. It's still incredibly hard, but it works and it makes you feel more accomplished just by being able to do them :D. I'm working on getting some blocks for home to be able to do them with Cathe's workouts. But a pair of books or pieces of wood would work, too, I think.

Also, if you make sure to keep your shoulders down, and not let them come up along your neck towards your ears, you may have enough length to do them with your hands on the floor. That's what I was told, but I haven't tried yet.

Hey fitnancy.

Actually, these types of exercises help strengthen the wrists and hands, as long as you don't have a major pre-existing problem such as carpal tunnel syndrome. I think you just have to build up slowly, like everything else. A lot of poses like that are useful in that manner. And it works your abs/core by the mere fact that in order to keep your crossed legs off the floor, you are using your core like crazy!

I can't do these either by the way - I can get one foot off the floor, but the other stays resolutely planted. I'm working on it - I'm too much into a good challenge to give up. I do feel it in the abs though - and I totally understand what you mean about needing longer arms - and I thought it was just because there is so much me (height wise - well, other wise, too, but I'm working on it!)

I have a question though. In the video, Brenda and I think Lorraine give a look to each other as if Cathe is absolutely nuts. I thought I saw Brenda, at least, having the same issue I have - she can get everything off the floor but that one foot. Am I merely wishful thinking and hoping that I'm not the only loser out there? LOL

Ok, just with the floor, and no blocks, I can only get my butt off the floor! Both of my legs are firmly planted. And I'm still working hard to keep that up. So, if you're a loser... I hate to think what I am!
And WITH the blocks, it's not much easier for me. My legs are BARELY off the ground for a few moments, but only because of the extra height.
