Levitation - does this count?

I'm just back from a little spring break in Florida so I've been out of the loop for a bit - maybe someone else has discovered and posted this. When trying the levitation holds I had trouble - couldn't get my feet to lift off the floor. So I started sitting on my step with my feet criss crosed in front. Now when I lift my bottom off of the step my feet are still not touching the floor. I'm working on the floor version, obviously, but I wanted some input. Does this count?

My yoga instructor, who does them with her legs extended, assures us that the effort does count. If she demonstrates in the lotus position, she rocks back & forth. I think she's right about getting benefit from the effort, because I can now get one foot off the floor when seated cross-legged. If nothing else, my hands are getting stronger as the first attempts hurt a lot.

I don't feel like I am ever going to be able to do this move. I just can NOT get the tops of my toes off the floor! I did feel a little better when I noticed that Rhonda didn't either for some of the reps. :)
