I am, for the most part, a Democrat but there is obviously something very wrong with the Democratic machine in the state of Illinois. Someone questioned whether the people of Illinois can vote for a decent candidate. Trouble is, if two crappy candidates are running (which is often how it is), you don't really have any choice. This means that the party MACHINE is submitting a problem candidate for consideration, knows it and is, thus, corrupt themselves. Then the question becomes this: How do you completely dismantle the entire party machine and replace them with incorruptible people and not end up with yet another shady bunch of people who all scheme together and who are no different than the original bunch? In other words, when the problem is bigger than one man, simply ousting him isn't going to be enough. I wonder that the Democratic National Committee hasn't had enough (and why has it taken this long to see the seriousness of the problem). This isn't a sex scandal or some questionable real estate deal. This man is a governor, a STATE politician who has tried to sell a Senate seat, a FEDERAL position. This is BIG. And there's no way the people holding office around him in his party didn't know he was dangerous. All heads should roll and the Democratic National Committee needs to take action now to clean it's house, to prevent really bad people from even running for public office in the first place. All local parties have machines, to a point but this is party machinery run amok. It is very clear to any rational person that the Democratic machine in Illinois must be broken NOW and watched carefully to prevent this from happening there, again. I would like to see everyone even connected with the current machine gone. It should be obvious by now but I bet even this will change nothing until the citizens of Illinois demand change. The Democratic citizens, in particular, need to raise unholy Hell and demand better of their party NOW. Will it happen? Of course not. People in this country are so lazy when it comes to expecting righteousness from their leaders.
