Rather than be as cruel as some who ask you to chose only ONE Cathe workout to keep (in some hypothetical situation), since I find that question to traumatic to answer myself, I will be less cruel and propose this situation:
If you could only have 5 (count 'em, five...not siz, not 5.5) Cathe workouts to create the "Ultimate Cathe collection"-- a balanced collection of workouts that are the ONLY workouts you will ever be able to use again until the end of time!--which would you choose and why? (this is hypothetical, realistically, I'd never be able to use just 5 workouts foreever...I've got exercise ADD!)
Weight workouts that come in seta and are incomplete without other workouts, like S&H, PS, PUB/PLB, GS, count as one... but SERIES--Intensity, Body Blast, Hardcore--DO NOT....Don't even try to cheat!!!
And just to make it tougher: CTX workouts have suddenly all disintegrated, and are NOT eligible for the list.
My list:
1)IMAX2 : Everyone needs a tough and effective interval workout. IMAX2 is more fun than either IMAX1 (aka: Interval Max), or IMAX3. And more doable, IMO, than IMAX3. I can definitely see doing this one "as-is" someday (even those high jumps), but never IMAX 3 (those jumps to the floor from the step). I've already progressed to using an 8" step for this (the first time, on Saturday), and experienced a nice feeling of accomplishment.
2) KPC: Cathe's best kickboxing workout (for those of us who like more-authentic-kickbox workouts) to date. (I really love her form in KM, but found segments to be either too low intensity and "turny"--segment 1, or too "jumpy" --segment 2). KPC also adapts well to low impact, but still with high intensity. And having a kickboxing workout in the mix helps avoid overtraining and overuse injuries.
3) GSL: I like using 3-day split routines, and this is Cathe's best! I can see using it for a long time to come. Though putting the shoulder section in with back and biceps is rather untraditional (they are usually with chest/back), it actually works out pretty well. The exercises are well balanced, and the rear shoulder is worked, which isn't the case in some earlier workouts.
4)Body Max: The toughest of Cathe's cardio + weights workouts,IMO, with the possible exception of Boot Camp--which was a close runner-up-- and a longer workout. Good for those days when you really want to hit everything and workout longer. Some of the segments have an interval feel to them as well.
5)Yikes! I'm at the end already? I feel I need a full-body weight workout here to balance out my program, but which one will I choose........
tic, toc, tic, toc...
readers wait in breathless anticipation....
tic, toc, tic, toc...
readers begin to drum fingers on table....
tic, toc, tic, toc...
readers' frustration and impatience mount...
tic, toc, tic, toc...
I am lucky readers are not it same room with me!....
tic, toc, tic, toc...
My final choice---and it was a difficult one: Muscle Max! Because nothing beats those slo-mo lunges for feeling the burn in the legs!
Where is a weeping smilie (rather an oxymoron, isn't it?), to express my sadness at not being able to include more? I weep for the runners-up I was unable to include. But I must follow the rules! (And so must you!).
Now, it's your turn!
( I really hate it when my Internet connection breaks off because of "lack of activity"---typing doesn't count!;( )
