Gin - Someone at VF recommended this for upper and lower back pain:
Egoscue Pain-Free Workout Series
This is what she said:
"I LOVE Egoscue because it WORKS for me!! Egoscue Volume I has been the MOST helpful for me of everything I've tried for my upper and lower back pain.
My back pain is a chronic problem. I've learned that I'm a shoulder shrugger and have had a chronically tight, tense upper back. I tend to compensate with and overuse my upper trapezius. I also tend to compensate with my lower back, as when I do core-type exercises.
I think Egoscue has trained me to use my back appropriately and in alignment. I don't have much lower back pain anymore.
Practicing Egoscue has helped me learn to keep my shoulders back, down, and relaxed and to not inappropiately use my lower back. It's helped me strengthen my core.
For awhile, it worked best to do the entire routine every day. Now I don't need to do it every day. Things like the lying cobbler's pose (the "frog") help me relax my lower back. There are a lot of familiar exercises that I've tried before, but somehow the form tips, and maybe the sequence, make them work for me.
Nothing stylish about it, it's rather dry-but because it works for me I keep using it.
You might find the DVD in a library"
Someone else had gotten it through Netflix.
