LET'S GET INSANE - Wed, 8/19

Good Morning Y'All!!!

CCB done. Loving this mellow workout. Yes, I feel guilty only doing one workout a day after reading about all you workout maniacs, but it's my recovery week and I'm sticking to that excuse :)

A-Jock - I typically think of myself as an energetic person, but you & Sandra make me a sloth in comparison :D

Elena - Keep up the good work :)

Dawn - Can we call you crabby? ;)

Becky - What a great day yesterday - congrats to DD#3 and your future Y work!! :D

Brenda - How old is your GD, gotta' love those workout interruptions :)

Sandra - Thank goodness you took a rest day - good for you!! :p The UB workout is 47 minutes (I think). It feels like a mini circuit workout because it moves so fast and the workout flies by. I do not have specific DOMS today (although I did not up my weight each round), but I do have an overall soreness - probably because I have not picked up a weight since starting Insanity. It's a good efficient workout. Like you, I particularly enjoy these shorter workouts.

Have a super day everyone!!

Today is just going to be cycle and PT!
Have a wonderful day everyone!
72 hours and counting down until we move DD#2 to school!

Today was Plyo Circuit. I finally replaced the battery in my HRM. Wow does that read high compared to my GWF. GWF had me at 410 calories and my HRM had me at 530. I'm guessing my real calorie burn was somewhere in between. My HRM is well over 10 years old, so the calculations they use for calorie burn could be off. However, the GWF doesn't really count the level one drill, ski-abs, or in and outs as high as it should either.

Becky, I'm raising my glass in celebration to your day yesterday. It happens to be a glass of recoverite at the moment, but I raise it anyway. :D Have a great bike ride and PT session.

Brenda and Jennifer, Have you done CCB everyday for RW?

Sandra, I enjoy reading your late night posts. Is your Insanity rest day a sub for CR? I'm sure you'll do great on your Fit Test. Oh, I just figured out if your doing your Fit Test today, yesterday was probably your rest day for the week. Wow, do you ever take a full day off and do nothing (besides maybe walk or housework)?

I have a message into my coach about the deluxe DVDs. I'll let you know what she says.

I'm off to hit the shower. Have a great Day everyone.

Hey all,

Can I join in? I just started insanity today. I've had it for a couple of weeks but we've had guests and have been traveling. I wanted to start when I had a full 60 days to commit. I'm going to the states (I live in France) at the end of Oct to visit family so I should get it in just in time.

The fit test was rough for me. I haven't worked out in almost 2 weeks due to business and a cold. I'm still recovering from my cold but think I'm well enough to get started.

My husband is doing this with me so it should be interesting. I have a few pounds I'd like to drop and I'm hoping this program does the trick.

As an intro, I'm 29, sahm to 2 dds, dh works for CAT and we're on a 3 year assignment in northern France. Been working out with Cathe for about 2 years and just love her!

Do you guys feel like you're getting the results you were looking for???

I'll check in again and become more personal as I get to know you all!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I was MIA yesterday but we did this big reorg at work and I got a promotion. Unfortunately, everyone has a mandatory paycut coming so I won't get any more $$$ for it. Yesterday was PCC and today I did PC & CA. My abs were burning by the end of CA but the workout goes by quicky.

Angie, I am getting good results from the workout cardiowise but my eating has not been 100%. I am working to get that in line so my results will be even better.
Sandra, good job coaching yesterday so you could take a rest day. Hope your Fit Test results are good.
Becky, congrats to DD for passing her driver's test. Good luck getting more work at the Y.
Jennifer, good job not overdoing it during your recovery week. Next week you will be glad you took it easy.
Dawn, I have a hard time figuring out the calories I burned too. I am usually around 300 - 350.

Okay! Fit Test #2 is done. Amazing how easy that feels now :D. Those long one minute rests after every one minute of exercise....I drank so much water to pass the time that I was starting to feel sloshy by the end LOL.

Anyway, I improved in all. I know most of the gains are simply a result of having become familiar with the exercises and how to pace myself through the minute. It will be harder to see the same kind of gains in 2 weeks from now, but time will tell.

Fit Test #1.....#2
switch kicks 62......64 (how do we count these? 1 kick per leg, or L&R=1 switch kick? I'm counting the latter way, but I think they're counting the former?)

power jacks 59......62
power knees 101....112
power jumps 38......50
globe jumps 9........12
suicide jumps 21......23
push up jacks 30.......36
low plank obliques 62....74

Jennifer - I'm looking forward to that UB workout! I have a week after my STS recovery week where I'm going to use it 2-3 times. I love Cathe's PUB, and this sounds very similar to that. Don't apologize or feel bad in any way about enjoying a lower-intensity week!! That's what it's there for! I wouldn't mind my recovery week being here already!! It's so smart to do that. Your joints will be able to recover and strengthen in preparation for the longer workouts to come.

Becky - Happy cycling!! Happy rehabing!! Happy moving day for DD!!

Ffte - I've looked at those GWF and BodyBuggs a bunch of times. I'm so tempted. What kind of HRM do you have? I use a Polar F11, and I think it may be a bit off, but not by much. I think it has my Max heart rate set too low, which makes the intensity of my exercise appear harder, which calculates a higher calorie burn rate. So I usually look at what it says and subtract 10-20%. I usually burn 478 cals with the Month 1 Insanity workouts. I log it as around 400. Yes, my Insanity rest day was yesterday. I'm operating on an 8-day week, because I insert a cycle day on Saturdays. I don't have a 100% no-exercise day scheduled, because I just can't seem to fit one in. Instead, I'm trying to plan a couple of days in the week where I get different kinds of rests. Yesterday, I rested from the cardio Insanity, but worked a small muscle group for 20mins. Today I did the Insanity Fit Test, and rested from the weight training. Now I'll crank it up again for a few days by doing both strenuous cardio and weight training together. Then next week, I'll have a couple of lighter days again. If I find myself feeling overtrained, I'll put in a complete rest day or two. It's not that I'm anti-rest days....I just will never get through a rotation if I take them, so I try to compromise.

Angie - Welcome! I'm just starting Week 3. Don't worry about your first Fit Test numbers. They're just establishing a starting point. You WILL see improvement the second time around.

Trxie42 - CONGRATULATIONS on the promotion!!!!!!!! Fabulous!! And excellent job on PC and CA today. Keep up the good work!

Have a great day Ya'llllll!!
Sandra

Good Afternoon Y'All!!!

I haven't had much time to post in the afternoons lately (darn work), but I'm taking a breather :p

Becky - The countdown is on. Exciting times for you. DD#2 must be excited, too :D

Dawn - I've never worn a HRM. I don't own a scale and I don't count calories (especially if they're from sweets ;)). Can you tell I'm not a numbers gal? I just work out until I'm breathless and I gauge my weight by the way my clothes fit except when I step on the scale at the grocery store every now and then. I guess I should be curious about how many calories I'm burning and how many I'm eating :p Also yes, I've done CCB every day so far for RW, but I also added the UB weights workout yesterday and plan to do the same tomorrow.

Angie - WELCOME!! Congrats on joining the Insanity asylum. If you have been doing Cathe workouts for 2 years, you will do great with Insanity. Both Cathe & Shaun T make cardio fun and will push you to do more than you thought possible. I've never been to France, but I will live vicariously through you if you don't mind :p Like Colleen, I haven't lost a ton of weight with Insanity - about 3 lbs, which can go back up at any given second :D. If I cleaned up my diet (which is not terrible, but I don't deny myself a treat every now & then) I might see more lbs lost. However, my cardio capacity has greatly improved and I have leaned out and tightened up overall. My DH is also doing Insanity and has lost 12 lbs, but he is eating totally clean (no sweets, treats at all). I'm surprised because DH is in great shape already and I did not believe he even had 12 lbs to lose:eek:

Colleen - Congrats on the promotion - sorry about the extra workload :(

Sandra - Great FT results. Yes, L&R = 1 for switch kicks. Can I count reading about your workouts as a workout? You rock!!! :p

OK, back to the grind...

Day 5 of rest week and I did not do CCB choosing instead to do a power yoga class at the gym and the shoulders and arms DVD from P90x. I have been doing CCB about every other day and sprinkling in Yoga and weights on the alternate days.

Jennifer: My granddaughter is 5 years old and just started kindergarden. She has always loved school and is ecstatic starting to "big girl school".

Becky: My youngest is heading back to Purdue for his final year on Friday. I think we are all excited school is starting.

Angi: I am getting great results and I have been following the nutrition guide very closely. As far as the fit test is concerned, it will get easier as you become acclimated to the exercises. The next time you do the fit test you will be amazed at how much you have improved.

Sandra: Great numbers on the fit test!! I felt the same way about those breaks,I was sloshing around quite a bit on the plank work at the end.

Colleen: Congratulations on the promotion. It's good to see that it is possible to have some kind of job security or promotions in these tough economic times.

I have been previewing month 2 and am excited about the longer workouts. I am not sure when or if i will be able to get any weight work in as there seems to be plenty of chest and back work in the longer workouts. I imagine I will see how I feel and maybe do abbreviated upper body workouts when i can squeeze them in.

Have a great evening.
Brenda
