LET'S GET INSANE - Tues, 7/28

Good Morning All!!

PC done - love, love, love this workout :D I'm sweaty & stinky (good thing you all are not within noseshot of me right now ). Has anyone checked out the Cardio Abs workout on this same disc? I know it is the same Cardio Abs workout on its own separate disc. Reason I ask is my CA on PC seems to be chaptered different, it skips the warm-up but maybe it is on purpose because it is after PC? My CA on its separate disc is fine. Just curious.

Brenda - Thanks for the dumbbell tip. I don't have wrist issues, but will keep this in mind if I do :)

Have a great day everyone

Hi Fun,
I previewed CA on it's own disk. I haven't looked at it on PC. I was planning on skipping the warm up when I did it with PC anyway, so if it does, it'll save me a step ;)

Today was W2D2 (PC) for me also. Ahhhh that felt good. I felt stronger and faster today. I subbed moves for the last two as planned. I inserted them earlier in the workout, but I forgot the last move was push-up jacks. Opps. So I ended up doing an extra set of the level2 pushup drill thingies. I then put the earlier moves at the end and finished with the bike lungey things and the split jumps.
That worked well for me.

Brenda, thanks for the dumbbell idea. I'll have to try that for Plyo tomorrow. I had them out for today, but PC doesn't have as much floor work. Now had I remembered to do push-up jacks I may have used them.

Today was W1D2 -Plyo circuit and it was my first time through. I did fine until the 3rd set of drills with the Level 1 drills, ski abs and in and out abs. When I previewed it, I didn't think this part would be so hard but when you are exhausted, it is really hard.

Brenda, thanks for the hand weight tip. I actually find it harder to use hand weights when I am on the floor.
Dawn, glad you felt stronger today. I haven't done pure cardio yet but I am interested in what your sub was.
Jennifer, I can't wait to try pure cardio. I just hope I make it through. I think I previewed CA on the PC disk so I don't know if it was different.

Dawn, glad you felt stronger today. I haven't done pure cardio yet but I am interested in what your sub was.

What I did was move some of the exercises around so I wasn't finishing with the squat jumps (I think he calls him suicide jumps) and the push-up jacks.
So instead of the run/lunge intervals (he called them bike something or another), I did level 2 drills (should have done push-up jacks, but I messed up, will do push-up jacks next time). Then instead of the split jumps I did the suicide jumps (squat jumps). At the end when he did suicide jumps I did the run/lunge intervals and then when he did push-up jacks I did the split jumps. I just really didn't want to lower my head that far in the workout when my heart is racing so I just moved the exercises around.

I hope that made sense

I set up a tentative RW schedule (depending on how much I like or don't like CC&B once I do it )

Option 1
M - Ins CC&B
T - C&W
W - Ins CC&B
Th - PS Upper
F - Imax2
S - Ins CC&B

Option 2
M - Ins CC&B
T - C&W
W - MM
Th - Imax 2
F - PS Upper body only
S - Ins CC& B

Hi ladies! Looks like you all are pushing your limits. Good work! I just finished CPR and followed that with a 20 minute run on the treadmill and then STS abs (stability ball) I have to say, after all the carbs i had yesterday i really had so much energy today and really pushed. Theres so many different rotations you can do with Insanity. I may try a simple 20 minute full body routine consisting of compound movements on Insanity days. Since there is pushups in the Insanity workouts i wouln't do more of them with my full body workout but basically was thinking of doing two leg moves(squats, plie' squats, step ups, lunges, deadlifts, etc.) one back move (pullups, lat pulldowns, seated row, bentover row, dumbbell pullover, etc.) one shoulder move (shoulder press, lateral raise, rear fly, etc.) one bicep move, one tricep move. All will be supersetted with moderate weight. If i do it i will let you know. WEll i'm off to study. Tomorrow is my test!!!!

Kariev: Good Luck on the boards! Be confident, you know you know the material and celebrate when you get out of that room!! BTW great followup to CPR, I haven't run over 2 miles in some time and you just gave me something to consider doing during our recovery week. I need to start building up my mileage again.

Trixie: Great job on the first go round of PCC. Who would think that those in out abs would be soooo hard? I have no doubt you are going to love Pure Cardio and smoke right through it!

Today is cardio recovery and I think I will be doing P90x shoulders and arms after, I haven't done that workout since before I started the STS rotation, so it might be time to pull out a couple of Tony's dvds and mix it up a bit.

Have a great day
Brenda

Hi Everyone,

Kariev, you go girl! You're the Energizer Bunny today!!!! Good for you.

Today I did the Max Circuit Intervals (I think that's the name.) You know me, I just can't follow the rotation. I get bored too easily. I did 2 step warm-ups instead of the Insanity warm-ups. Then I did 1 round of the Intervals, rewound and did the remaining 2 sets of each round. Does that make sense. It made the time go by pretty fast.

I liked this workout. There were some new moves and I was drenched by the end. I LOVE it! (Hate it, too, if you know what I mean.)

I was thinking, to add variety, you could do one part of each of the DVDs so you're not doing the same thing every time.

Working this hard makes my feel incredible. Question: Do you think it's possible that Insanity could be bad for you? The reason I ask is because I always thought you were only supposed to do 1 or 2 really "hard" cardio workouts per week.

Another question is, since we are getting used to working out this hard, does that mean we'll have to up it even more to keep getting results?

I like Insanity now, but I also enjoy a nice "relaxing" step or kickboxing workout too. (Ha - Never in my life did I think of step or kickboxing as relaxing. Well, not until I started Insanity.;))

hello everyone

I did D1 today. I can't remember these names and when you guys abbreviate my heads starts spinning. I think I need to post the names near my computer.

Trixie- those ski abs and in out abs really get me. I have to rest alot during those. And it's not my abs that are tired its my chest and shoulders. Today I did them on my step platform so I don't have to go down as low. It helps a little. I definitely need to work on these. I did do the pushups from my toes this time. I have been getting on my knees the past couple of times but i pushed through this morning. (of course my ROM was not as big )

Kariev- its amazing what carbs can do for your energy level-LOL Good luck on the boards tomorrow. You are doing physical therapy right? Do you have your PHD? I am getting my masters in exercise physiology right now. I have a year left.

aveggiegirl- have you done all the workout so far? Just curious....which one is the hardest?

Have a great day everyone
chrissy

Good Afternoon All!!

Dawn - your recovery week options look good. I haven't thought that far in advance, but I may steal your schedule (if you do not mind:p). I have all those workouts except for PS (I think, what are those?)

Colleen - WTG with PCC :D Funny how different a workout is when you do it rather than watch and vice versa. I've previewed workouts that looked tough and were actually easier than expected.

Kariev - Good Luck tomorrow!! You will do great!! I love my carbs. I could never totally cut carbs from my diet or my brain would not function

Aveggiegirl - I'm not sure my body could handle more intensity than what Insanity is bringing. I will probably do a strength rotation after Insanity. Just switching up your routine should do the trick, I don't think you need to do a harder workout - although I'm certainly not an expert :D

Chrissy - I don't have a list of the workouts in front of me, but Month 1 workouts are:
PCC: Pure Cardio Circuit
CPR: Cardio Power & Resistance
PC: Pure Cardio
CR: Cardio Recovery
FT: Fit Test
CCB: Cardio Core & Balance
They really should give these workouts shorter names ;)

Take care all :D

Kariev, Great job today and good luck tomorrow.

veggiegirl, I agree with Fun, changing it up will be more effective then increasing intensity.

Fun, PS would be Cathe's Pure Strength Series. The series itself includes legs and 2 upper body workouts. If you do the 2 upper body workouts and just one warm-up and cool down the timing comes in at right about an hour IIRC.

Chrissy, No, I haven't done all of the workouts but I think they are ALL hard. (I can't remember all of the names either.) Each one has something in them that "gets me good". Just like you, those ski abs and in and out abs are tough for me. Not so much in the chest but in the wrist and shoulders. Those frog jumps are killers for me, too -- right in the quads.

Kariev, good luck tomorrow! You're going to do great! Are you going to celebrate tomorrrow night?

Havefun, a strength rotation sounds good after Insanity. I've been thinking about going back to Meso 2 of STS. I really enjoyed that month of lifting. However, I'm also thinking about waiting to do STS until the Shock Cardio comes out. Speaking of Shock Cardio, I can't wait to see what Cathe puts together for us!

Sweet dreams everyone.:)

Hey All,
another late check-in for me. I can't believe it's day 9 already. Did Pure Cardio and was actually looking forward to the workout :)
I don't look at the next days work out until right before I'm about to do it, so that I can't psych myself out of it.

Okay Day 9 video blog is up on youtube, if you're interested.
