LET'S GET INSANE SUN. 08/16

Good morning, Insanitinas! I did Max Interval Circuit for the second time, and Cardio Abs. I had all kinds of grandiose plans for doing Fit Test immediately afterward, but given how fried my legs were from a Fri. fitness yoga class and a truly demonic aqua workout I cooked up on Saturday, skipping right over FT to Cardio Abs seemed just the thing. It is very, very humid in my neck of the woods right now, and as sweaty as Insanity-MIC can be under the driest of circumstances, you can imagine I was totally dripping!

Tomorrow I'm gonna do Core Cardio and Balance after Mindy's Interval Express (cardio only) with an HSTA cardio-only premix chaser. I'm feeling the urge to get away from traditional crunchy core work for a week or two. I plan on doing Cardio Recovery on Wed. after a hi/lo + barbell leg circuit set.

Have a good workout day!

Hmmmmm???? The sound of all these pins dropping is giving me a headache. Quiet down in here, won't you, YA'LLLLLLL???????

Aquajock - it looks like you and I are the only ones crazy enough to do an Insanity workout on a Sunday morning. It's either this, or spending time with my kids, and frankly, this makes makes me less crazy! :p. You've pulled off another phenomenal workout today, even without the Fit Test to add to the mix! You came out of the womb doing tuck jumps, didn't you?

Jennifer - Thank you for the description of Cardio Abs yesterday. I see another whammy to the hip flexors will be served up. Is all that really necessary? . Actually, I'm kind of confused about the different ways people train the core. Some people go out of their way to avoid hip flexor use, and others go at them really intensely. I enjoy workouts that avoid it more than those that do, but that's not really the reason to avoid it, is it? I wonder what's best for us, in the long term. What will flatten our stomachs the best??? That's the REAL answer I want to know!!

I'm still sweaty from doing Cardio Power & Resistance, followed by STS Disc 19: Chest. My chest is still trembling, too.

All of Shaun's workouts involve intense hip flexor use. Cycling does, as well. My hip flexors were feeling very tired today, which made this a bigger challenge. Also, it's the 3rd day of TTOM, which is my lowest-energy day of the month. I always have a glorious Power Mode phase in the 4 days leading up to the arrival of AF. Then She arrives, and 48 hours later, I'm down as far as I was up, only 3 days before. So, what I'm trying to say is this was probably my weakest/most tired day I'll see all month, and I knew that going in. Knowledge is power. I pushed through, did my best, and put it behind me. And in all honestly, I didn't do so bad. It just felt harder than I wanted it to feel today. I'll bide my time until my next PowerMode :). Then I'll do Annette's version of things!......NOT! LOL!

Tomorrow I'll be teaching a total body resistance class, very similar to Cathe's Power Hour. Lighter weights; endurance focused. However, it's also my birthday, AND will be the last time I teach this class (I've been teaching it for a year). So I've decided to have some fun with it. In honour of my birthday I'm going to have them do all exercises for 39 reps (I turn 39 tomorrow. And yes, this is the FIRST time I'm turning 39, I swear! Next year I'll start celebrating the anniversaries of turning 39 :D ). I'm picking their favourite exercises, and pulled together some great music. It's going to be fun. I need to rehearse it a bit today.

I hope you're all having a great Sunday, with either a well-deserved rest, or a feeling FABULOUS from a wonderful workout!

Cheers,
Sandra

Happy Birthday Sandra! I'll be 38 in about a month....I'm okay with that number, but starting to get scared of anything that starts with a 4! :p

I haven't posted for several days because I haven't gotten in any real workouts. I did get caught up on your workout posts though! WoW!!! You ladies are awesome! Keep up the excellent work!

Got DD#1 moved yesterday. It went well, very nice apartment, appears to have an sweet roommate. Currently there are just 2 of them in a 4 bedroom/ 4 bath ...they might get spoiled this semester!

I'm still on the semi DL list, or at least no INSANITY for another 10 days. :(
I'm finding myself just wanting to be a sloth. Anyone else struggle with that? When you can't go all out, just don't want to bother at all? Some of it is just fatigue I'm sure.

A couple of questions while I'm waiting to rejoin you. 1st ~ I've already noticed that my running shoes just don't cut it for INSANITY, not enough cushion and they slip off doing some of the moves. Cross trainer suggestions? I haven't bought cross trainers or even researched them in years so I don't have a clue who even makes a good one anymore.

2nd~ which workouts would you suggest for focusing on my glutes/hamstrings/hips? I don't have STS, but it looks like I could go print off the workouts from workout manager if you think any of those might be a good start.

Thanks for the opinions and advice!

One more week of chaos and rehab then hopefully I can get re-focused and rejoin you! :D

Hi everyone,
I am in the rest week of Insanity and today was day 2 of Core Cardio and Balance. Thos ehip flexor burners and shoulder "fries" really do the trick. Tomorrow I teach a Pilates class so I will skip the Insanity workout and do chest and back from P90X instead. I really feel the need for upper body weight work with Insanity. I know there is plenty of body weight upper body weight work in Insanity, but Cathe has made me a firm believer in heavy weight work.
Annette.... AWESOME WORKOUTS these last few days. You humble me with your workout ethic.
Sandra... 39 ROCKS. Have a fantastic class. I know you will show them how 39 SHOULD LOOK!!!
Becky... Don't let the "4" number scare you. When I turned 40 (8+years ago) I was determined that the 40 decade would be for ME!! My kids were still in high school but well established in their studies and jobs, so I welcomed the milestone by deciding to focus on my goals. I became certified in Pilates, yoga and group fitness and put my health and well being higher up on my "to do " list. I also became a nana to 3 darling grandkids, a small business owner AND changed jobs in my primary career. Believe me, age is really just a number.... most people can't believe it when I tell them I will be 49 in 4 months. I can run circles around most 20-30somethings and I attribute that to the kickbutt workouts Cathe puts out on DVDs.
On another note, I use Reebock cross trainers and I have added Impact Gel Insoles to help with all those darn tuck jumps I have been doing lately. I have to do the workouts in a room with carpet, which doesn't help when you are doing 123Heisman or suicide drills. My suggestion is to try on all kinds of cross trainers and do the higher impact moves right there in the store to make sure the shoes are comfortable.
Also, you can absolutely print the workout cards and do the exercises. My suggestion is to do the trisets for legs in meso 2. Those exercises lifted my butt like no other! I would also look at the plyo workouts for phase 3, those helped take the cellulite right off my legs. I did gain inches in my thighs during STS, I think that happened in meso 3 (strength) which I did do the squat rack routines. One reason i am so happy with Insanity is I am leaning out in my thighs but keeping the strength gains I made suring STS. If you have any questions about the specific exercises in these workouts, just ask us and we will be happy to explain them to you.

Have a great Sunday.
