LET'S GET INSANE - Mon, 8/17

Good Morning Y'All!!

CCB done and I couldn't think of a more perfect workout after my rest day. It has the perfect amount of intensity, the exercises are done for just the right amount of time and the right pace and I worked up a nice sweat :)

A-Jock - IKWYM re grandiose workout plans. I keep thinking I'm going to add a workout to this series and it just has not happened, although you are doing other workouts

Sandra - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! :D:D:D Youngest DD is also a Leo, no wonder why you're so much fun :D I'll be right there with you at 39 next year. I don't know what exercises are good for flattening the stomach, but this series has definitely diminished my lower pooch.

Becky - Check in with us even if you don't get an Insanity workout in, we can always use the company :) Not sure about cross-trainers. I use Nike Frees, which would make most people cringe, but I love the flexibility that the shoes give my feet and they are extremely light. I find that heavily cushioned shoes tend to be heavily weighted for me and actually tweak my knees.

Have a super Monday everyone

Goood Morning!!!

I missed Friday's check in due to time constraints. I didn't workout Sat or Sunday, since I didn't do the Fit test in my second go around of week 3, because I came down with a cold during the first one ( I was camping this weekend anyway)

It's good to be back. Today was W4D1 PC and Cardio Abs.
Brenda, doing CA before PC was pure genius. :D I still sucked mind you, but my level of suckiness went from a level 9 to a level 7. ;)

Sandra, A big HappyB day to you. I just hit 40 last month. It's not so bad..

I'm really looking forward to the last week in M1 and then to RW. I'm sorta dreading M2, but I'm sure I'll be ready to go for it after RW..

Becky, If you're exhausted you probably need the rest, but as Jennifer said, do check in anyway... I have Ryka Intensity XT3, but I'm tempted to try some of the others. These seemed fine for when I was doing STS Cardio rotation, but I'm starting to think I could use more lateral support for Insanity... As another note I have a medium to high arch (since they typically makes a difference in shoe selection).

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I did not check in but I was away visiting my family this weekend. Saturday I did PC & CA, and Sunday was CR. This morning I did the Fit Test and saw good results. I will try to post them tonight.

Sandra, Happy Birthday!!!!
Becky, I use Ascics cross trainers but I don't remember the name.
Dawn, wow you are coming back with a bang.
Jennifer, I previewed CCB last week and I had expected it to be easier. It looks like it will be a good recovery workout.

Happy Monday ladies!
Going to cycle tonight.
Had a great PT session. I think I am going to start going, injured or not, approx. every 6 months for a couple sessions. It's amazing how many little form mistakes I am making. There is so much connectivity in our bodies (duh...I know, hello captain obvious!!!) but it is shocking how one small mistake in one area screws up the whole thing!
Dropped another nauseating (sp?) amount of money at WalMart/Target. OMG!!! College is so ridiculously expensive BEFORE they even get there!

Going to go look for shoes on Wednesday. Thanks for the recommendations. My P90X Plus and INSANITY Deluxe should be here by the end of the week :D so hopefully I can get on track next Monday!!!!

Have a good one! Thanks for all the kind thoughts and welcome arms to keep posting!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Becky, Good to hear about your PT session. I look back and I'm lucky I got off so cheap for College cost, but I lived at home and went to the local State University (lucky it's a decent one). Tuition has really gone up. I feel bad for students these days (and their parents for those who are footing the bill).

Colleen, It feels good to see those fit test numbers go up doesn't it. :D

See you all tomorrow!

Goooood evening!!!! My gawd, I'm exhausted! LOL! In a good way. I wiped myself out toDAY!

I do personal training with clients in my basement. This morning I took my 6am client outdoors where she did most of the work, but I did the jogging warm up with her, and played along a little bit with some of the cardio drills. After she left at 7, I was good and warmed up for Pure Cardio. Oh dear. My legs are not fully rejuvenated yet. They were fighting for every hop, skip and jump this morning. I fought the good fight, and made it to the end. Then, as per the rotation, I pushed play on Cardio Abs. Well...for the love of Pete!!!!!!! When he started us off with jogging, high knees, and wide tuck jumps as the freaking WARM UP, I almost shut him off!! WTF?! Is this how respectable people spend their birthday mornings?! I think NOT!! But I'm not a respectable person, I suppose, because I sucked it up and did it anyway. Holy Hip Flexors, Bat Man!! Could I complete every rep of that long-leg lever ludicrosity? NO! And was I thrilled when the tick tock of the clock finally wound down to zero? YES!! I collapsed in a sweaty, exhausted heap at the end of it all, thinking, “Well, my shoulders feel fine. There’s no reason I can’t do STS shoulders today. “ That’s when my consciousness registered my almost 4-year old daughter dancing in the doorway saying, “Are you done yet? Are you done yet?!” Ooooh, yes! Shoulders can wait! It’s my birthday morning! So I eagerly followed her out of the room and up the stairs. My 9 year old daughter had created a scavenger hunt! There were post-it notes stuck all over the place, with riddles to the next clue. They eventually led me to her bedroom. When I opened the door, both girls were waiting on the other side, with bubbles. They showered me with bubbles as I entered, shouting Happy Birthday!! On the bed was the present from eldest DD: a package of Lindt 70% Cocoa chocolates. Mama’s favourite!! My kids are the best! She bought it using her own allowance money, which was very touching.

I sucked back my breakfast smoothie, then made my way back to the basement to finish STS Disc 19: Shoulders. It’s Double-Wave Load week, which is the toughest week in Meso 2. 20 minutes later my shoulders were as tired as my legs, and I was ready to hit the showers.

Then it was time to make a mad dash to the ymca to teach my Maximum Strength class. This it total body endurance weight training, primarily using the barbell and dumbbells. I told them that in honour of my birthday, we were doing 39 reps of each exercise, before moving on to another exercise for the same body part. I honestly didn’t think this routine would be terribly challenging, compared to my previous ones. Oh dear, I was wrong. By the end of the squats I was soaked. After the push ups I had so much sweat in my eyes that the room was blurry for a few minutes. By time we got to biceps, I made some remark about being glad it wasn’t my 50th birthday!! Oh, and for the grand finale, we did our glute/hip work the same way Shaun does in CPR: with one knee raised off the floor. And of course, as part of the core work we did some lovely plank runs. I’m honestly tired tonight. It must have been a good workout, though, because 2 people after class today asked me if I do personal training. Life is good.

I’m soooo relieved that tomorrow is my rest day! No insanity for me tomorrow; just STS Disc 19: Triceps. And some lovely yoga. Nothing strenuous. It was a fun day, though. I had my favourite treats, spent lots of time with the kids, my husband met us for lunch at an organic restaurant where we ate outdoors on a beautiful summer day, and I didn’t do a drop of housework or thesis writing. Nice! To make it complete, I hope to snuggle up in bed with DH and watch an episode of Entourage tonight before passing into a deep slumber.

But enough about me. How did you all do today? Did you do good, YA’LLLLL???

Jennifer – Will you do CCB every day, as the rotation suggests? Is it a recovery kind of workout? What day is DD’s birthday? I love being a Leo. Roar. I love lions and sunflowers. Roar.

Becky – my favourite shoes these days are UnderArmour for women. I can’t remember which version I have. They’re a cross trainer. Very lightweight, and fit the foot VERY well. I use them for everything except running. For running I wear Mizunas (sp?), which I also love. You’re getting P90X+?! Fabulous decision! They’re super workouts! Er, are you getting the Insanity deluxe upgrade? You’re already doing Insanity, aren’t you? Or am I getting mixed up? I’m glad the PT sessions are giving you some relief. It’s worth every penny, then. You asked about workouts for your glutes/hips/hamstrings. Cathe’s Butts ‘n Guts is ideal. Do you have that one? The entire workout is awesome, but the floorwork is especially good. Also, the leg conditioning drills at the end of her KickMax are excellent. And Pyramid Lower Body has a hips/glutes/hamstring segment with the stability ball that is just sadistic.

Dawn – when was your birthday?? Happy belated 40th!! My brother turned 40 on July 21. I’m looking at M2 with a bit of trepidation, too. I know I’ll be ready for some fresh workouts by then, but I’m not looking forward to the longer sessions. I’m loving the shortness of the routines in M1. Oh well. If we just take it one workout at a time, we’ll be done it before we know it.

Colleen – Another great feature of these workouts is that you can do them anywhere! They’re great to take with you when you travel! Is your family used to seeing you make time for exercise when you visit, or was this something new? I look forward to seeing your Fit Test improvements.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Have a great night, Ya’ll!
Sandra
