Good Morning Warriors! :D

It's Monday and I am not going to work! woohoo! (Sorry, had to get that out of my system ;)) Played tennis yesterday and did a lowmax premix and ABC no equipment abs. About to go out and practice at the tennis wall then practice a billion serves until I start to get them right. Will tackle disc 25 and drillmax cardio tonight.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I look forward to seeing what everyone is up to this week.

Be back later, Happy Monday.

This morning was Disk 25 Back and Biceps. For a long workout is goes pretty fast. Now I have to gear up for plyo legs on Wednesday. Hopefully doing those will help me get ready for the new workouts!

I did my workout wearing my brand new hot pink Cathlete shirt! B-day present from DH and the boys.

MJ sounds like you have a very full activity day today! Have lots of fun and enjoy you time off from work. :)

Happy Monday Warrior Chicas!

I did STS M2 legs this morning, disc 23 (?), the last disc in this Mesocycle, then I ran for 35 minutes.

I am on the last two workouts for Meso 3 upper body, which I will do Tuesday and Thursday. I figure I can lift on Thursday after I get my apple pie made and before I stick the turkey in the oven. It's a small bird this year dinner won't take forever to cook; it's just us so the menu is simple.

I am still considering P90x and Insanity, if I splurge, I'll do both during December and revisit my rotations come January.

Have a great one! (day, workout, meal....)
:D

Hey Everyone

Today I did the first disc of Meso 3... last time around I loved it but this time I felt like it was taking forever. Probably because I had a finite amount of time to work out and get back out the door. I had to workout at 11 and that is never a good time for me. Anyways, after that I did a CC run, so I had alot to fit into a short time. I finally decided to ignore my heart rate monitor and just follow my perceived exertion for the Cardio coach. I worked harder but I am not sure that is smarter? Anyways both STS and CC were tough but I am looking forward to doing it again when there are no time constraints!

Tomorrow I think that I'll do some sort of step workout first thing and then I am off for 3 hours in the car. Fun!

Janis - I have been sooo tempted by Insanity. I had myself convinced to buy it for my husband for Christmas and then I would get to do it too but he is not really at that fitness level yet. He occasionally does Cathe's bootcamp workout but I know that he would feel more comfortable if it was geared more for guys. I may still go for it! P90X just has not clicked with me but I would like to hear what you think of it when you trying it. I can't believe how close you are to the end!

MJ - Hope you are enjoying your well deserved time off! Sounds like your week will be Tennis, tennis, turkey, tennis!

Cathy - I am gearing up for Plyo legs too! I am a little scared to say the least! I just re-read your post about the your workout Disc 25 - I thought it was going on forever and you thought it went fast. I need to keep my workouts to my usual time in the early am when I know I have lots of time. Too many wake up calls last night made it too hard to get up in the morning!

Tara - How are things going?

Cheers warriors!
Heather

Evening Warriors

I did the 3 hours in the car and never really got to do the job that I was supposed when I arrived at my destination. Such is life!

I did do IMAX2 this morning and Cardio and Weights Abs. I am feeling some tightness in my chest and back for sure!

Hope you are all doing well! Is the American Thanksgiving during the week? or on the weekend?

Cheers Heather

Hello Warrior Princesses!

Ahhhhhh....I've come home to Meso 2 & loving it.....OOOWWCCHHHH!
Just got done with Disc 13 (Chest,Tris & Shoulders). It was really hard the first 20 min or so, probably due to the heavy chest work. I'd forgotten how many presses & flys there are! But about halfway into the workout the endorphins kicked in & it was smooth albeit painful lifting!

I think that's part of the reason Meso 2 has been my favorite--it's lifting heavy enough weight that the muscle group you're working really gets on fire & then the "lifting high" comes---you know, kinda like the runner's high? (Maybe??????) Well, anyway, I LOVED IT! I can't move my shoulders, but that's okay!

I also did LIS cardio only. I going to try to do Disc 14 (legs) tomorrow & then get up early on Thursday & do Disc 15. Then I can feel less guilty about the big Thanksgiving dinner I plan on eating! ;)

Heather, Meso 3 workouts seemed to take forever to me too, except for plyo legs. But I know the time of the day you work out makes a difference too. I'm trying to change my workouts to the morning instead of late in the evening. It's harder for me to get motivated to work-out in the evening! But I dislike getting up early in the morning and I hit snooze so many times that I end up just having time to get ready for work much less work-out. So then I end up doing it at night to get it done. The rare morning I do manage to get up, it's great once I get started. I think exercising in the mornings will be my New Year's resolution! Thanksgiving is on Thursday, but most will be off of work on Friday too. It's a nice long 4-day weekend for eating, Christmas shopping, football or just relaxing!

Janis, I'm cooking a turkey breast so that it will get done quickly. I hope to be done cooking by noon & then have the rest of the day to relax. Hope your Thanksgiving goes as planned.

Cathy, I didn't know that there were hot pink Cathe t-shirts! Sounds nice--I'll probably order one soon.

MJ--keep enjoying your days off!

See you all tomorrow!
Tara

Good Wednesday Morning Warriors! :)

Yes, it is a tennis, turkey, tennis kind of week ;) Although, today its gray and going to be rainy so we will see if the tennis holds up. Did drill max cardio and disc 25 yesterday, will do an imax2 premix and my first squat rack legs today, should be interesting, and of course, tennis or something else if weather kills it.

Janis - I own Insanity, its patiently sitting in its box waiting for me to start tackling it. It does come out once in while for me to watch while I am on the treadmill. I have been holding back on trying it because I made a promise to myself to protect my joints while I lose the rest of the extra weight. I have managed to keep them healthy so far and now that I am within 20lbs of where I need to be and playing tennis more and doing the more high impact Cathe & plyo legs without any problems I am probably ready to give it a try. Perhaps when we start the next round of STS with shock cardio I will start to throw in an insanity workout for a cardio day too. It does look really hard, but fun.

Heather- I agree on the length of meso 3, it seems so much longer, eventhough it really isnt. Once next week comes around it probably wont seem that way. I am doing both the squat rack legs and the plyo legs so my rotation will be a day or two longer each week, we will see how it goes. American Thanksgiving is thursday, just a day to spend way too much time cooking just so people can eat and eat some more. lol Good job on the CC workouts!

Tara - welcome to meso 2! I really enjoy the meso 2 workouts and the results are pretty good too. Get ready for your leg DOMS!

Cathy - I hope you had a great birthday! I have the pink cathlete shirt too, except I bought it smaller so its my "goal" shirt.

Alright, off to figure out if its Cathe or tennis this morning. I could really get used to this day off stuff....(too bad I am not independently wealthy lol) ;)

Talk to all of you later. Enjoy your day.

Ok, so I survived Plyo Legs, but boy it was rough. The woman is totally sadistic. :D I only had to pause once and that was because of equipment, but I was huffing and puffing and mentally throwing rude remarks Cathe's way. I didn't feel like saying them out loud because that would have used up energy. I felt like a pile of jello by the end.

I think the whole thing about how long the workouts seem to last is very in the moment and some days the same workout can feel different. But, I think it also depends on the way the workout is structured and whether you like it or not. For me some weight lifting patterns seem to go faster than others. I know this morning I would have been quite happy if plyo legs had been cut in half even though it's only 46 minutes with a long warm-up. ;)

Tara the hot pink shirt is the Cathlete one. It still feels weird to me wearing it because of my name. It'll be interesting to see how people react to it. Though given that it's NOT going to be T-shirt weather here for months, it'll be awhile. I'd still like an STS one, too.

Have a great day everyone. I would like to get in some yoga this afternoon, but I know that I'm not likely to do anything late in the day and I told the boys we'd play games this afternoon.

Oh, and my outer pec muscles are really unhappy with me from my workout on Monday. More so than yesterday even. Those big arm movements in the warm-up today were torture.

Good Morning Everyone!

I think I could repeat everything Cathy said again! I did Plyo legs disc 26 this morning and I really enjoyed it! The split jumps made me think that my heart was going to come out of my chest but I remember doing them the time before and not thinking I was going to make it and this time through I made it! During the warm up it became very obvious that those chest flys had a big impact! I want to do another low intensity cardio tonight so I might just walk on the treadmill and then a yoga stretch. It is grey and dreary here so I guess it is a good day to work inside... I hope all you preps for Thanksgiving go well!

I may have to go for Insanity and give it to both my husband and myself for Christmas....

MJ- I just wanted to say that I love hearing your weight loss story. I am very impressed, you are dedicated and I love that you promised yourself not to wreck your knees! It seems that you have made a very serious plan and are sticking to it. You must feel great and should be very proud of yourself. I am at the last 15lbs but I seem to be in a holding pattern. Even with all this extra cardio I have been doing the scale hasn't budged. I need to make a serious plan.

Cathy - I never thought about people thinking that you were promoting yourself with your Cathlete shirt! It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction you get!

Tara - Glad to hear things are going well! I totally got the "runner's high" in Meso 2 as well. Especially with the legs discs. No need for guilt on Thanksgiving!

Janis - So did you keep it? Have you done p90X before? I am not sure that I can handle Tony. I looked at it before finding Cathe and thought about it but I was reading a review and someone mentioned STS and went and watched the preview and bought in. It seems crazy that a year ago I had no idea who Cathe was and now I work out with her 4 times a week. Anyways, while you are finishing STS legs what are you going to do combine it with?

I'd better get back to work!
Heather

Hi Everyone,

I'll keep this one short--sleepytime is rapidly approaching! I did Disc 14 & my legs are totally fried! I was going to through in some cardio after, but the legs are saying no way!
I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving & weekend. I'm planning to get up early & exercise--probably do my cardio then.

MJ--Your legs DOMS prediction was right on! I'm beginning to feel it already!

Cathy--Thanks for the info about the t-shirt. I love anything pink, so I'll be ordering it on Friday (saving my shopping for then). I find a way to wear t-shirts even when it's cold! Plyo legs was a love/hate relationship for me, but I'm looking forward to doing them again eventually. I think I'm going to do the Squat rack legs when I get to Meso 3, so the plyo legs may have to wait a little while.

Heather--I remember my heart-rate was up there too for Plyo legs. I hope you enjoy your evening workout as well!

Janis--Hope you're having a great day!

See you all later,
Tara

It's Wednesday Warriors and I am feeling really good! It sounds like everyone is having a great day too!

I ran on the TM, my first interval run since returning to running. Up to now I have been easing into it incrementally, today I ran 4.1 miles in 4.016 minutes to CCV4. Afterward I had planned on doing a round of B&G, but felt more drawn to doing yoga. Imagine that! I did Power Yoga with Rodney. The hour flew by. I totally understand what you mean, Heather, by sometimes workouts drag on and sometimes they fly by. Rodney can drag on at times, but today it was spot on.

Cathy - I noticed at Amazon that Sage Rountree has a dvd that goes with the pocket guide you borrowed from the library. I am thinking about getting it. I think you should adopt a wry yet mysterious smirk to accompany your cathlete t-shirt!

Heather - I kept the GoWear Fit and I ordered both Insanity and P90x. I am a splurging girl. If you order Insanity, order it through a Beach Body Coach, not from Beach Body directly and not from Ebay or Amazon. Through the coach you will pay less - not extra products - and the shipping is more reasonable. Through the company, they have a weird upselling game going on where you are charged for things you didn't expect to be charged for, even when you are super careful at check out. (Like I thought I was! Johanah, here on the forum, helped me straighten it out.) buying through ebay or amazon, you might get bootlegged materials. Phew. Starting Saturday I plan on starting Squat rack legs and Wednesday, Plyo (hey I am finally doing the same Meso as the rest of y'all) doing legs 2-3x a week has made a big difference in my legs, with both their strength and their appearance, and has made major improvements in my butt. (I was getting pancake-ish, if ya know what I mean.) For upper body I am planning on doing 4day split at least until P90x arrives. I'll do that until you guys are done with STS, then I'll revisit the rotation plan.
Did all you warriors see at AskCathe that Cathe plans on doing STS and Shock Cardio with the group after the first of the year?

I really hope you get the GWF Heather, I am very glad I kept it. (thanks again for your input MJ, it really helped me in my decision) It has given me a lot of valuable information that I didn't have before, and it has been incredibly motivating and it does help me be mindful of what I am popping into my mouth. It's like having someone sitting on my shoulder at all times reminding me to make better choices. I haven't had any chocolate chips at all! {laughing} Like MJ said, the sleep information has been enlightening to say the least!

Tara- we eat a little later on Thanksgiving than most folks, so I'll make the pie, lift and then prep everything else. I love eating holidays!

MJ - I, too, am inspired by your level headed plan to lose weight and get fit, I bet you are an inspiration to all your co-workers and friends.

Here's to Turkey, tennis, DOMS, STS and getting fit and getting ripped!

:D

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!

I did Drill Max Cardio+Legs premix. Now I can eat guilt-free! ;)

Janis, I did see Cathe's post that she plans to do a STS + Shock Cardio rotation beginning in Jan! Shall we all join her? :)

Happy Eating!
Tara

Happy Thanksgiving & Happy Thursday Warriors! :)

Okay, so last night I was supposed to do squat rack legs, but after reading Heather and Cathy post about plyo legs, the evil side of me took over and I tortured myself with disc 26 as well. Cathe is sadistic and unlike Cathy, I let her know how I felt. ;) lol Jello legs for sure by the end. This morning I went out and practiced tennis for an hour and a half. I am sure its a big shock to find out I played tennis. lol

Janis - Great job on the running, I am glad you are able to do it again. As for yoga, you are a better warrior than me, I am still eyeing my dvd's but have yet to do one. Looks like you and I will be doing the same leg routine for this meso, I am going to do plyo on Wednesdays and squat rack on Saturdays. I am happy to enabled you into keeping your GWF. It may not zap you when you reach for something extra to eat or when you sit on the sofa too long, but it does sit on your arm quietly taunting you into remembering your bigger goals. :p

Heather - I felt the same way on the split jumps, I wasnt very nice to Cathe during that one. For me the plyo sneaks up on me, I start out ok, then by the end of one of the exercises I get whacked on the head with how hard it actually is working me, but I like it (how sick is that? lol).

Cathy - Hope your pecs are feeling better, mine are still sore as well. We should get you cathlete shirts in every color just for fun to flaunt your name at everyone. ;) You work hard, so wear your shirt proudly.

Tara - Hope the DOMS are a little better today, tackling drill max with the meso 2 DOMS is above and beyond. Enjoy your holiday.

Just want to say thanks to all of you for your support. It has been a long journey this year and more to go. I have been quietly going about my plan without anyone really knowing what I was doing or what I am trying to accomplish. I think I needed to make sure I was my own motivation and doing it for the right reasons so I can see it all the way through to my goal. People have seen changes and comment on it, but since I dont say much about it unless someone asks specfically, it is a mystery to most of my family and coworkers. Checking in with all of you and getting to know you has helped tremendously these last few months. Having good people to check in with who understand this crazy fitness lifestyle has been invaluable. So thanks... :)

Alright, time to get myself geared up to be the only person under 60 at Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon (curse my brothers for living in other states lol ;)).

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hey Warriors,

I had 45 minutes down time in my Turkey dinner prep, so I did Plyo disc 26, now on to Squat Rack legs on Saturday.

Wowzer, now I know what you guys mean by those split jumps! It was a fantastic, fun and fast workout! Loved it!

:D

Hello Everyone

May I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I did CC8 this morning and I was almost done when my ear phones went crazy, literally all of a sudden I could hear the cool down from another CC and then back to the run and then a different run all together. Very annoying. I tried to finish doing what I remembered Sean saying but it was not at the same intensity. CC 8 is a long one and to be on the 2nd last interval and feel like you haven't done it all the way through is just plain unfair. I think that the earphones can't handle getting wet and they were getting very wet. They are for the new ipod shuffle and the controls are on the head phone.
Anyways, then I did STS stability ball abs. I will really need to do yoga tonight, between plyo legs yesterday and the run this morning my butt feels a "wee" bit tight.

I did squat rack legs last time around and had not thought of doing them and plyo legs. I think this time through I am going to still with Butts and Guts and see where that gets me.

It would be cool to do the rotation again with Cathe with Shock Cardio.

Janis - Thanks for the advice for Insanity. I did order through Johanna and it got here so fast! I think that I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it arrived today. I totally want to look at it but I have to pack it away for Christmas!

MJ - I have been really enjoying and relying on this check-in too. It is great to have people who understand what you are doing and working right along there with you! Good luck with the gerries at Thanksgiving!

Cathy - Hope all is going well with Thanksgiving and we can compare DOMS with Disc 27 tomorrow!

Tara - Hope you had a good guilt free dinner.

Okay I am off to do yoga... really I am!
Cheers
Heather

Happy Friday Warriors! :)

Survived Thanksgiving, didnt do too much damage food wise, enjoyed a bit of all the things I like, but actually havent felt that great since last night. I am not used to rich foods anymore since I changed my food choices this year, so my stomach is just a little wonky and I can tell I am dehydrated from all the extra sodium that those foods bring. So today I am eating like normal and drinking a ton of water.

Its a beautiful day outside and this morning it was in the 50's, which is a rarity here, so out I went to walk on the beach for an hour. I think I will do LIC cardio and some abs tonight. Maybe will go out later and hit the tennis ball around too depending on how I am feeling. Definitely still sore, in a good way, from plyo legs the other day.

Heather - Glad you got your insanity, be good and wrap it for under the christmas tree ;) Im definitely up for another round of STS with shock cardio and adding some individual insanity workouts with it too after the holidays. Now, did you actually do the yoga? lol

Janis, Cathy and Tara - Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving.

Be back later.

Hi all,

I just ended up doing yoga yesterday morning and then I took a 2 hr nap in the afternoon. ;) I didn't even eat that much food, I think I was just tired.

My outer pecs are STILL a little sore from Monday and my glutes, hamstrings some, too. I really don't remember plyo legs getting me that much last time.

Did Disk 27 this morning. I was same or higher with my weights than last time through. I had to drop down on my third set of bicep curls and I really think the weight I started with is going to be my 90% weight. I was really struggling and my form wasn't so hot. I really had to eek out a bunch of my last reps, but I managed to use the weights I'd planned for everything else.

Looks like everyone has had a very productive workout week. And it definitely helps to have people to check-in with who actually understand why you're doing what you do. IRL plenty of people know I workout, but they aren't people I can really talk to about it and few of them workout themselves.

So did anyone go shopping today? I avoid the stores on Black Friday. We actually have few people to buy for this year. Our families are pretty scattered and we only get together with my parents, brother and his son.

Good Afternoon Everyone

So I did do yoga yesterday!

Today started out the way that I planned but then all went off course. This morning I got up and did Disc 27 it went really well and I did not feel that it went on forever. In fact it felt just right. I too had to drop some weight for the bicep concentration curls and even the last two sets of include curls but I had gone all out on the barbell curls. Things were not going well with the rear delt flys till she reminded up to imagine holding the ball between your shoulder blades. My big plan was to work all day and get ahead of the game so that when my DH gets home (he's been gone all week) that I could spend evenings with him. BUT I sucked up running around trying to find Christmas presents. Mind you it was a very successful trip!. Not Black Friday here but there were to the odd good sale on. When I got back because I did not feel that I had sweat enough this morning I did the Bodyrock workout that was up for today. It only took about 22 min.
Well I had better go get some work done!
Sounds like everyone survived Thanksgiving! We should set up a rotation once Cathe puts up the STS cardio and STS strength and add in Insanity too. Janis we'll have to rely on you for your experience!

MJ - i totally know what you mean about not feeling well after eating a big rich meal. My stomach just can't take it!

Cathy - my pecs are sore too still! I can't find my meso 3 cards - so I can't find what I did last time!

Janis - Glad that your feeling the pain with us on Plyo legs! So how fast do you run? I think there must be something wrong with the distance measure on my treadmill. When I run on my own outside (alot slower than with CC) I usually do 3.2 miles in 34 min. When I run for 65 min with CC on the treadmill it says that I only went 4.2 miles. Something is not right. Maybe it's the hills on the treadmill versus running flat. Oh well.

Tara - Hope you made it through Thanksgiving!

Talk to you soon
Heather

Do any of you use the Workout Manager to keep track of your workouts? I've been doing it pretty much since it became available and now they've added the feature for Facebook, so your workout gets logged there as well. Anyone using that feature?

Cathy - I use the workout manager all the time for my workouts. Its great for planning rotations and easy to move things around if schedules shift. I have no plans to use the facebook feature, I have a login to facebook because a few people wanted to add me as friends, but I havent posted anything about myself out on it. I think I am just too private to put my world out there. The fact that I post on here is a miracle. lol ;)

Oh and in addition to the workout manager, I use a calendar with stickers of each workout too for when I complete a workout. I guess the childhood joy of earning a gold star still works for me. :D
