Let's Do This Again STSept-Dec! *Dec 14-Dec 20*

Oh Cathy! Oh no!

I am so sorry!

I keep typing and deleting - I am at a complete loss for words. :(

I am simply terrified for you that you heard something snap! Please keep us posted.

:(:(:(:(:(

Oh Cathy
That is terrible!
Okay, my cousin just did the same thing and has fully recovered. They told her that doing surgery now versus physio has the same outcome and she actually healed faster than surgery. They took plasma (I think, I'll have to check for you) from her forearm and injected it into her calf. It really sped up her recovery... so they didn't send you home with a boot? My cousin could not put weight on it for a couple weeks. She couldn't drive as it was her right as well. You need to make sure that you see the right person!!!! You are an athlete and a Warrior Princess and deserve only the best care!
Let us know how you are doing and keep us posted. We are here for you!
Sending you healing thoughts!
Heather

PS
MJ - Hope you get to NYC!!! You are meant to travel this is just a fly in the ointment!

Heather I was totally floored that they just wrapped it. That's why I want to get to my DO as soon as possible. He's been doing sports med for decades! I was totally unimpressed with the person I saw, who wasn't a doctor anyway. I knew I was wasting my time asking her any questions about recovery time, therapy etc. I really try not to be judgmental, but sometimes you just know from looking at someone that they totally don't know anything about sports injuries/recoveries or heck just plain old exercise. I'm guessing she saw 49 years old and just figured I'd be willing to sit around for the rest of my life. :(

I keep telling myself there's got to be a silver lining in there somewhere. Something that in the end will benefit me from having to rest for awhile. I figure within a few days I can do lying ab work. And I'm hoping by the first of the year I can do the upper body workouts with you guys. But, I'll know more after talking to my doctor. Why, oh why do these things happen on weekends!!!! So, frustrating.

I did drive quite a bit after, but I used my cruise on the highway and my left foot on the brake which helped. DH has jumped in and has taken over doing things. He's doing the dishes, got the boys supper and chewing me out for getting up and getting things on my own. Guess I'll be getting a lot of reading, knitting done for awhile. And I can sleep in more, too. Gotta find every silver lining I can. Oh, and I can preview the dancy step workout so many times, I'll be able to do it the first time through. :D

Happy Sunday Warriors!

Cathy - I am very sorry about your injury. Lets hope you get into see a good sports doctor so you can get back on track quickly. We will be here when you are ready to jump back in full force. Until then you can do like Janis did and just modify until you are recovered. I think its good that your DH has to jump in and do everything, it may not be as perfect as you would normally do it of course, but you get to rest and recover which is most important. Besides, reading, knitting and sleeping more doesnt sound like too bad of a deal. :)

I am still here at home, flight was cancelled again because of the snow. I got up at 6am to check on the flight status and it was cancelled and they booked me on another flight out on Tuesday afternoon! Needless to say I was not happy with them trying to bump me out even further, so I walked around the house for an hour and a half with the cell phone on speakerphone listening to the Delta christmas music before someone finally answered on the reservation line, so I got them to change from JFK to LGA as the airport to fly into so now I am on a flight at 9am tomorrow morning. Plus, if something goes wrong with that one, there are 5 more after it throughout the day just in case. Lets hope I get on the first one. I also decided to change my return date out a few days, so now I will have 4.5 days in NYC, then 5.5 days at tennis camp, then 2.5 more days in NYC on the end of it. I will still get back with one whole day off before going back to work.

Alright, must go do something physical to help pass another day here. At least its nice outside, perhaps I will go hit the tennis ball some more.

Will check back later.

MJ I sure hope that you are able to get your flight out tomorrow and start your vacation. Crossing everything for you!

I have decided that if I ever again in my lifetime start to take for granted my ability to exercise, or even my ability to move around at will, someone should slap me. I certainly have been taking it for granted and I don't intend to do that anymore. I've also learned my lesson about slacking on the stretching. From now on I'm adding in extra stretching/yoga regularly as well as at the ends of workouts. I don't skip stretches at the ends of workouts normally, but with STS I did it a lot and I think that helped lead me down the road I'm now traveling. I could get away with that in the past, but apparently my body has finally reached an age where it's going to be a vital part of my workouts in the future.

Hey Guys

I just wanted to jump in for a quick moment... to say good luck to Cathy and MJ tomorrow!

MJ - I hope you have a great trip and finally get there! Airlines are so frustrating! I know that you will have a wonderful time at the tennis camp too.

Cathy - I totally know what you mean about the not stetching after STS. Often times I don't have the extra 15 minutes after to do the extended stretch and i find that it doesn't really give a good calf stretch. I hope you can get in right away to your doctor!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Talk to you tomorrow
Heather
