Legs - firmness and cellulite :(

LizC7

Cathlete
I workout 6 days a week on average and just did an STS/cardio 14 week rotation that was awesome. My legs did get some muscle addition but I still have this wiggly, cellulite, not firm enough look that drives me crazy!
Any suggestions?

You cannot completely get rid of cellulite - and i think most of us have some. But what you're doing regarding the workouts is excellent to improve the tone and make it appear less visible. I will add that nutrition is key IMO in regards to fat deposition - ie high sugar - very bad!! Then there's genetics that we can't run away from!:p

Yes, I totally agree with this. Once you have it you are stuck with it. You can make it better with a clean diet, exercise, and even some massage or brushing techniques like cupping or dry brushing, but to get rid of it 100% I don't think it's feasible, believe me on this because I have tried everything (I still do my dry brushing once a day though:eek:). There are professional treatments like Endermologie and similar treatments which can help to improve it, but they are costly and only temporary. Also, in case you were wondering, liposuction does not get rid cellulite either.

This does not mean you have to give up, whatever cellulite you have you can also make it a lot worse if you stop exercising and eating clean. So keep doing what you are doing so you don't make it worse. And remember, to see drastic results from exercise, your diet has to be super clean. I strongly believe it is 80% diet, 20% exercise, and it might take a long time, even years to see a significant change in muscle tone.

Brushing?

I've heard of the brushing - what do you use?
has anyone heard of the wraps? I've heard they don't completely solve but do diminish a little.

There are a ton of good brushes. If you do a search on amazon (try searching by dry brushing) you will see a lot of them (with handles, without handles, different materials, etc.). My brush has a handle, but I don't remember the brand. It looks exactly like the Earth Therapeutics. Amazon has a video (if you search by dry brushing), I have to watch it later. I learned the dry brushing technique by watching videos on YouTube, but I will check that amazon video later. I hope this helps. If anything, dry brushing will give you amazingly soft skin, cellulite is really hard to diminish, but the brush will get rid of all the dry skin and your skin will be very soft to the touch.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we need to band together and make cellulite an enviable trait! I'm going to embrace my dimples and love them dearly: I'm naming my butt Shirley Temple! :p;)

Aging is also a factor. I tried on some denim shorts the other day and decided I'm done with shorts, outside of workouts. I have the strongest, most muscled legs in the family, but there is a quality to the skin that we lose as we age. So, I am leaving the shorts to my less-muscled but smoother-skinned teenage daughters!

I don't even try to get rid of cellulite. I do my workouts and that's it. I struggle in daily life enough as it is and I struggle to get workouts in, so managing to do so is enough of a hurrah! that I gave up on worrying about cellulite and whether my legs look as good as the next woman's as I am on mile 12 of my powerwalk through town.

It 'aint so much 'what do your legs look like?' so much as 'what can you do with them?' that matters. Right?

Hi Liz,

You have had very good advises and would like to add lifting heavier than you are currently accustomed to. Improving the body composition won't completely erase cellulite but it certainly reduce:);). Of course 80% of the effort is made in the kitchen:D

Please don't accept the aging process as a fatality. We can all have to face it but we can opt of a lifestyle to enable us to gracefully age.(I hope:D;):p.

Here are link, hopefully will help:)
