Leaner Legs

I just purchased CTX, and am really enjoying it. On my second time through the rotation. I am having trouble with Leaner Legs though. Oh, my gosh. It about killed me. I can do MIS without any trouble with the same amount of weight Cathe uses, but that Leaner Legs kicked my butt big time. Do you think its because it's higher reps, and lower weight? My legs hurt for two days after I did that tape. I am really enjoying the other segments. I love the way she put an abs section in the tape and grouped the upper body segments so you can focus more on those parts. I think this set of DVD's is awesome. I felt they were a very good investment even though they aren't one of Cathe's more current productions. I really feel like I got my money's worth.

Yep! It's not nicknamed "Meaner Legs" for nothing LOL! IMO it's her most challenging leg workout. It's 180degrees different than MIS. Gotta *love* those low-end plie squats at the end x(

Cheers,
Sandra

IMO, this is harder than PLB. I love this workout. I love the whole series. This was my first order from Cathe & I ordered the series in VHS. Now, I want to reorder it in DVD. I thought about then giving my VHS series away but I don't think I can. I would need to find a good home for it. Someone that would appreciate it, use it & love it. I would always wonder. I just don't think I could part with them.;(

Yes! My fave lower body workout. Just did it tonight. The plie squats at the end are a bitch!!! But this is the lower body routine that most shapes my legs. When I do this once a week and circuit max once per week (subbing all compound moves for pure leg work with barbell), then I know I'm back in the game and getting into great shape.

Start your barbell lower than 35 pounds to start with. I know 35 pounds may not sound like much, but Cathe just never slows down with this one, there are few pit stops and a 35 pound barbell is tough enough. When I start back with this one, I use a 30 pound barbell for squats and sit n'stands, match Cathe for dumbells, but lower to 25 pounds for static lunges and plies. Within a week or two I'm right back up there again completing it all in style with the same weight load as Cathe.

Just lower the weight to begin with and make the most of all the stretches. Let us know how you do.

This is the toughest leg workout I've ever done. Calling it Meaner Legs is pretty kind! ;) It is doable with regular practice.

I did it this morning. It's a great workout. The more you do it, the more you will progress.

I've had leaner legs on vhs since it came out, it is a work out you will never tire of, and will continue to kick but. It sure is great when I'm pressed for time and want to still have a killer leg work out. Wish I had the series on dvd:) Bri.

It kills me every time. Whenever it comes up in my rotation or PLB - I groan even before turning on the TV! IMO - it's a toss up between Leaner Legs & PLB for toughness. I did plb today and was swearing a blue streak! The two are tough, tough workouts.

I think PLB is harder - probably because there's the floor work and there isn't in Leaner Legs. Oh wait...is Leaner Legs the one with all the low-end reps. Yeah...that IS a killer!

This is strange but for some reason, LL does not do it for me as much as L&G. I use the same weight as Cathe, but I do not have the same soreness afterwards. Strange.

You all made me fell better, and a little less like a whimp with your comments. I did "meaner legs" again last night, but lightened up on the weights. I am sore enough to know I did some good, but not doing the old man bow legged waddle I did the first time I did this tape. I was groaning, even before I started working out. I like the idea someone shared on this thread of mixing BMAX in with this tape once a week. I really like the step routine in Bodymax.

Am I the ONLY one who doesn't think Leaner Legs is that hard? I kind of think that PS Legs is harder (maybe it's because of the floor work in PS Legs. The one legged hamstring lifts are tough). Then again, the low-ends in Leaner Legs ARE hard....guess I'll have to try it again with heavier weights.

I don't know if there's something wrong w/ me but I actually like doing LL. I love the way it moves so quickly w/o breaks. I also really like doing deadlifts. However, it did make my butt really sore this last time b/c I had been really sick and couldn't work out for 3 weeks. I also like that it really isn't a very long workout. I don't like those sit and stands though. (I know they must be good for me so I make myself do them) I like PLB too though. I like just about any weight workout more than a cardio workout. I do my cardio b/c I know I need it. I look forward to doing my weights! :) /karen
