Okay, another post regarding relocating. My husband has an interview next week in Lancaster, PA. Anyone familiar with the area?

Lancaster is lovely rolling farmland. Unfortunately, like many other places, much of that farmland is now being turned into housing developments. I grew up in nearby Lebanon Co. and would have no problem moving back, although there is more traffic and hustle and bustle then when I was there 30 years ago. There is lots of shopping, recreation nearby (Harrisburg, Hershey, Gettysburg, Philly are all close), but I don't know any specifics about schools or the best neighborhoods to live in.

That's kind of funny Robin, because my husband is a Civil Engineer and will be hired specifically to do the land developing. I guess it's good news for him, there will be a lot of work?

I was born and raised in Lancaster and still have a lot of friends and family back there. What would you like to know? I am familar with the schools, etc. But Robin is right - it's some of the best farm land in the country being turned into housing developments. It's pretty there, though. And there is lots to do.

Everytime we drive through the area, we comment on all the new developments and townhouses. If that means work for him, then yes, at least until the area is saturated, I guess. I'm an outdoorsy kind of gal, so I would prefer that some of the farmland stay farmland, but I guess folks have to live somewhere. I forgot to mention that Hershey Medical Center, an excellent facility, is close and there are lots of little towns if you don't want to live in Lancaster itself. I lived in Palmyra, there is Elizabethtown, Strausburg, Blue Ball, Intercourse, Paradise etc, etc.

Check out Manheim and Landisville as well. They are on the western side of the city and further away from all the touristy stuff. And they have the best school districts.
