Lack of fitness products in Canada

Are there any other Canadians out there who are frustrated by the lack of fitness products available here in Canada?

For example, I cannot find 12 pound dumbbells anywhere here in Montreal. And the only step that I can find here is the one with the green top and purple risers. This step does not withstand the intensity of Cathe workouts very well.

I would love to buy the new FBC Cardio Club Step - but shipping from Cathe's store is $60!!! That's almost the price of the step itself.

Well, I just thought I'd vent a little. The lack of fitness products here just boggles my mind, considering how close we live to the U.S. We always seem to be a step behind.

Oh, I dunno. I live in Toronto and we have a great huge fitness place downtown where you can get absolutely anything. There are also places where you can order tons of fitness stuff online, like the Treadmill Factory, which is Canadian and has great shipping prices even for heavy things like kettlebells.

Thanks - I'll take a look at that website. It would be great though to be able to buy Cathe products here in Canada.

I'm in a 'burb just outside Toronto and i haven't had any problems finding fitness equipment. There are a lot of stores that carry fitness equipment. Even the Wal-Mart's around here sell a nice range of equipment including 12lb DB. Sorry you are having a tough time locating stuff in Montreal. I can see if you were in a rural area but Montreal is a big city so i'm not sure why the stores don't carry what you are looking for. Can a store maybe order them in for you?
Not sure if you are talking about the same step, but I think the green step with the purple risers is just the older version of the grey/black step Cathe uses now. I think I recall seeing her use the green/purple one in an older workout. Is it "The Step" brand one? If so, it should be durable.

Its just a generic brand - the box didn't indicate that it was "The Step". I bought a new step probably 8 months ago, and the plastic covering on top has started to crack. Also parts of the underside of the step have started to buckle. I am not overweight, I do not do step aerobics everyday, so I really can't understand why I'm having this issue with the step. I tried taking the step back to the store where I purchased it, and they would not take it back. The description of the new Step offered by Fitness by Cathe seems to be more durable, which is why I would like to be able to buy it, but the shipping charge is really holding me back from ordering.
