Knee problems

Hi Cathe and happy holidays! I know that you're not a doctor but you have experience with knee injuries and I would greatly appreciate your opinion. One of my knees has started to bother me. It's not sharp pain it is more like a dull ackey fullness kind of like the pumped feeling your muscles get when you've just finished lifting heavy weights. My other knee does not feel this way. I guess my question is do you think that this is normal? Thanks Much--Ranae

My 2 cents

Hi Ranae,
I noticed your question and since no one has answered it, I will give you my 2 cents. This is strickly a lay person opinion now. But I have had knee pain and I would say any knee pain is not something to fool with. It can quickly get worse. Often dull aches are the beginning signs that something isn't right in there. Especally if it last for any length of time afterwards. I would look out for swelling and tenderness. If it continues see a Physical Therapist. Also when your working out,try not twisting it, at least until you have seen a P.T. and know what's causing the pain. Don't try to treat yourself. It is better to deal with it early so it doesn't set you back or cause more harm. They can give you exercies to strenghen it (even if you are weight training)and teach you how to take care of it so you can continue exercising. It will cost less to have it done now then to wait and need more Therepy later. Meanwhile when it does ace try putting ice on it for 15 minutes. A bag of frozen peas works great. Hope I don't scare you too much. I just know how hard it is to stay active when your knee is hurting. Good luck, and let me know if it gets better. Lora

knee

Thanks Lora-- I will have it checked out. I was not sure since I do not experience any swelling or sharp debilitating pain if it was just part of the aches that come with training. I really do not want to cut back on my exercise and I'm afraid of being told I should not do squats, lunges etc. since I find these very effective. Oh well, better informed than ignorant! Thanks-Ranae.

Knee pain

I also get knee pain but mine is not a consistant pain. It comes and goes. I don't know if I have arthritis or what. Mine just came back since the weather has gotten colder. Maybe you should just keep an eye on it, it just might be age like mine.
