Knee Pain Question

I have been having pain behind my knee and on the side of the knee. If I kneel down it really hurts. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? I hope I dont have to stop doing step and weights!!!!

I don't know the cause of your pain but I do know that my side of the knee pain was, according to my chiropractor, a fluke that happens irregularly (I personnally feel I did it during spinning when having regular difficulties in coming out of the bike clips and yanking that leg out). But I also have back of the knee pain. I am currently not supposed to do any lunges or squats for at least a week plus I am working on strengthening my hamstring muscles. The back of the knee pain has gotten better but if I were you I would go see a doctor. The back of the knee is a serious injury. I would never mess around with joints such as the knee and the shoulder. Go see your doctor and see if you have to lay off some exercises that you are currently doing. I am still doing hilo and step if that is any consolation. Good luck!

DiDi,
I am currently experiencing the exact same problem. In fact, it almost feels like a giant rubber band is not stretching behind my knee because some days I cannot even stretch it out straight! I have been to both the dr and a physical therapist for this. The dr feels like it's my muscles; the pt thinks it's my joints. I personally feel like it's muscles. I have tried walking more to stretch it out and that works until I sit down. I have been doing the Wedding Tape Part II and the lunges hurt but they strengthen. However, the next day, I can hardly stand! There are supposed to be great stretching exercises for this but the only ones I have found that help at all are Karen Voight's Simple Stretch. If you find out anything, please let me know!

thank you

I have experienced on an off knee pain. When the knee pain gets really bad I omit step and squats. Rear lunges are okay. Try to omit the step and squats and any movement that causes pain in your workouts. If this does not work go to the doctor.

I finally broke down today and bought a decent knee brace, a hot/cold pad and some more FlexAll. My knee doesn't seem to be due to an injury because I haven't injured it at all. And both of my knees bother me but one is much worse than the other. I gave up lunges and squats long ago and I only do the 3 count dips now. However, just standing up straight hurts and the dr isn't sure what to do for it other than prescribe pain meds which I won't take.
