knee injury & exercise

Hi everyone,
I have a slight knee problem (there's a dull ache at times) because I overtrained a few months ago by doing too much step. I stopped for 2 months and started 2 weeks ago and soon found the knee bothering me again.
Anyway, I'm going to a orthopedic doctor but he can't see me for a few weeks (it'll probably heal by then!). I know this is probably wishful thinking, but I wanted to lose about 7lbs before I go back to school in a month and was wondering if there are any cardio exercises that don't strain the knee? I go to a gym so I have access to everything.
Thanks for any advice!!!

I have the exact same problem. I think it was from kickboxing. High/low also bothers me some. For me, step and side squats is ok as long as i do no kicking. Lunges, not squats are ok too. My slight injury is next to my knee on right side. I would love to here what your orthopedic says.I have had this problem since June.

hi!

I just wanted to add that my sis had major knee injury years ago from soccer. She can do step, walking, and swimming. Also i have read that upper body is better than cardio. Cathe even responded to that.

I have a bum knee. They thought it was torn cartilage years ago but exploratory surgery showed it wasn't. Never got an actual diagnosis. I find that I MUST cross train with impact cardio. Too much step, too much dancey cardio, too much "x" equals knee pain. I also only use a 4" step, and do tall box work at about 8".

You could try anti-inflammatories, glucosamine/chondroitin and MSM. Icing helps me also.
