Knee Fat

Hi!

I'm new to Cathe forums, but have been reading them for a few months now. I love all the valuable information I get from all of you, and Cathe!

I am 29, 5'8", 130 lbs, have always been active, and to try something new, started Cathe videos about 3 months ago. I am in good shape and my "problem areas" (ie. saggy butt and larger thighs)are slowly shrinking, thanks to Cathe (I use Butts & Gutts, Muscle Max & Gym Style legs in rotation)! BUT, I have a new problem I never noticed before and don't know what to do about it... I have recently developed/noticed knee fat! I do all the lunges, squats, toning excercises from the videos, in addition to running. Help! What more can I do to target my knee and front leg fat??

Thanks so much for all the valuable info everyone, and thank you Cathe for your fantastic videos that I am now addicted to (I have 2 more on the way that I just ordered!)

J.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I'm 32, 5.5 and 124 pounds. I recently got my body fat measured and I am quite low at like 15%. I have had this problem for as long as I can remember, and thought it would go away with the weight training.

If anyone knows of anything, I would LOVE to know.

I feel your pain:) :)

Aha! You are 29- that's when the knee fat attacks!! Seriously, though, I share your pain. I could go on forever about my knee fat, and unless you have it, no one seems to know what you are talking about. Then you show them (because you are most likely NOT wearing shorts) and they kind of grimace and ewwww....and suddenly they realize that fat knees are a real (and very evil) entity.

Sounds like you also have a little quadriceps fat too...like me...BTW- I am 36, 5'4" and 136 so I'm pretty sure I've got it worse than you. x( What I have been doing lately that honestly seems to be helping is in addition to almost completely cutting out alcohol and eating better and working out like a mad woman, I have started using Celrase lotion on my knees and front thighs. I sort of hated to "give in" to a gimmick lotion but in all honesty it really is working for me. All of those other things really help, but in our case I think we need a little extra something, a secret weapon. I found my Celrase on ebay, it's about $50 a bottle but a bottle lasted me nearly two months and you should see some results about 1/3 of a way through. I am about to embark on a mission to up my cardio quite a bit and see if that helps. My thighs are extremely muscular and always have been, as well as my butt, but there sure is a lot of fat on top of those muscles! I am also going to clean out my eating even more, watch my portions even more, and keep using my lotion. We'll see.

Best of luck to you, I know I wouldn't wish knee fat on my worst enemy!! But you are not alone my dear!!

The knees are a very common place for fat storage in women, especially along the insides. As with any fat loss, you can't target a specific area or spot-reduce. It may be that you notice it more now simply because you're losing fat overall, and this place is one of the last to go. Keep up the good work, but don't stress over it! :)

I too have knee fat and it makes me crazy. I am 5'2" and 116 lbs. The only time I had NO knee fat was when I was much younger, lived on the beach and walked on soft sand daily, played paddle ball for hours every day, lifted weights and weighed all of 98 lbs. I am never going to see those days again so I figure I am just going to live with some knee fat as I can't figure out how to get rid of it without walking all day and starving myself.

Well, I'm joining the club. I have always been under 100lbs and called 'skinny legs' but had beautiful knees. 5'2" somewhat athletic all my life - lots of dancing - Guess What?!?!? 54 yrs, 3 kids later = no boobs, abs ok, but need a bit of work, 122lbs and KNEE FAT!!!!

I started cycling when I noticed that the thighs were out of control - not large, but fatty, cellulite riddled, uuuugggghh! So I started cycling - 2 yrs ago I couldn't even do 18 miles without being wiped out for the rest of the day. First I couldn't keep the weight on. Now a few cycling centuries later and I average 40-60miles at 15-17mph, my thighs are more jiggly and lumpy. What's up with that???

I still wear a size 4 (the bigger ones) and need to firm up by October - any suggestions? Diet is good, but I guess I could cut some more. I will order: Leaner Legs, Legs and Glutes (my butt needs nothing! - solid and firm) and maybe Butts and Glutes.

HELP me somebody!;(

My two big issues: big calves and knee fat. I'm working out like a demon and trying to get my diet cleaned up as the weight comes off. I feel good about the chances of getting my calves leaned up (women in my family do NOT have big calves like mine). However, and I know I WILL hear about this, when I get my body to where I want to be (i.e. FIT) if I STILL have chubby knees I WILL get that fat sucked out via micro-liposuction. I'm not kidding, either!
