KK's September Check-In

Good Evening!

Today was the part of SJP that I didn't do yesterday -- about 35 or 40 minutes -- just the step plus abs and stretch.

Am getting ready to go walk the dogs right now. Hopefully we'll do a little running.

Have a super day tomorrow!:D

KK, Being so busy, does it seem like things run together? Even being that busy, I'm very proud of you to continue with your workout. I know it isn't easy.

Will be going to Florida with Tina and Chasie to Disney. I got the Itinerary yesterday. Will be gone 8 nights and 9 days. Leaving Oct. 1 will be back on the 9th. First day will have dinner at Teppan Edo.Japan Pavillion. 2nd day: Magic Kingdom. 3rd day: Animal Kingdom, dinner Calf. Grill/Comtemporary Resort. 4th day: Disney Studios, Sci Fi Diner/Disney Studios. 5th day: Epcot, lunch at Tutto Italia/Italy Pavillion. 6th day: Seaworld! 7th day: Typhoon Lagoon, dinner at Flying Fish/boardwalk. 8th day: Downtown Disney or stay at resort, (rest time?), dinner at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical at Pioneer Hall/Fort Wilderness. 9th day: home. It's all locked in and I'm ready to go.

Can't believe I'm taking Sid's place. Poor guy, is giving up some fabulous fun time with his family.:( They tried to make this trip a month or so ago, but Sid couldn't do it. They moved it to the dates above. He still can't, and decided to do it without him with me along so as not to lose money. They (Tina and Chasie) promised that there will be another time for Sid, when he feels better.

Yesterday's workout was Total Body Sculpting and today will be yoga and cardio.

Have a good one Rhea,

Janie

Good Evening!

Boy, SJP really kicked butt with me yesterday -- DOM's today.

Wow, Florida and Disney World. Have a terrific time -- I'm sure it'll be great.

Love the Total Body Sculpting with heavier weights -- good workout -- timing is right.

Just got in my new proposals -- 3 of them actually -- so I've bought myself a little bit of time to learn a new program. Then back to work, writing, and working with my husband.

Have a super weekend!:D

KK, good job on SJB. That is a great workout. Glad you got in your proposals. Also hope you learn the program quickly.

Good Luck.

Have a great evening to you and Rhea,

Janie

Good Morning!

Don't know why I have a hard time at night logging on sometimes.

Anyway, this weekend was Intensity series Bootcamp -- Sat without abs and then Sunday, some anaerobics with 4DS Boot Camp plus the abs from Bootcamp, Intensity Series.

Am struggling doing my taxes. Cause I was gone so long, I'm having to first separate 2008 from 2009 -- don't ya just lov it.:(

Hope all is going well in your part of the world, Janie and Rhea. Have a super day!:D

Hi KK,

Your workouts as usual are great. Sounds like you are doing such a good job on them.

I don't envy the tax thing. Ugh.

This is what has been happening in my life.

I've been having fun trying to catch a fish and learned a lot in one day about fishing in the Skykomish River. Only about 15 or 20 min. away from home.

When I first got there, there were nets set every so far from each other all the way up and down in the river. I found out that the Indians have the right to do this. Anglers, like myself couldn't fish 100 feet from these nets.

The Indians had a great technique on how to get the fish into their nets. They would use a power motored dingy and go on the sides of the river and pound on the boat and shout to scare the fish into the nets. Then they would leave and come back every two hours and inside their nets were about 10 fish. Then they would repeat that process throughout the day. There was always one person that stood on the bank while the other person checked the nets. WOW!

I had the opportunity to talk with them and learned what kinds of fish are in the river. These fish were huge! Salmon of course, steel head...all about 12 to 15 pounds each.

An hour before I left the river, I also met a few people going by me as I was telling them that I was here all day long and didn't once have a nibble. They looked at my set up and made all kinds of modifications. Gave me some much needed things/advice and left me on my merry way to continue fishing. I gave up after about 7 hours. However I decided to go again the next day with my new set up. Pole in hand with added new stuff from a stop at Walmart, and off I went again.

I found my new friends there while they were taking the fish out of the nets. Same guy there on the bank as before. But this time I realized it was a woman taking the fish out of the net. Said hi to the man on the bank, jabbered a bit and walked down the river in my favorite spot, 100 feet away from the net. The guy also looked at my rig and gave his approval.

While I was fishing and when they were done collecting their fish , they asked me to come over. I did, and they gave me this 12 pound male salmon. I thanked them profusely, for I thought I would never catch one anyway. We talked a little more and away I went to my spot on the river and used my stringer to put the fish onto and hold the fish in place. Soon the woman came to me and gave me a slip of paper with writing on it. "1 King Salmon male about 12 lbs given to by Skokomish tribal member Jennifer Williams." She said the limit for me is two, but with this salmon and the note, I, myself can catch two with the addition of this one. That was so kind of them.

I'm going to try to get her address and give her a thank you note and perhaps a book marker I crocheted, to thank her one more time. It was so generous and kind of them to do that. I had a warm heart from that simple act.

While I was still fishing, the Indians left. The fish was dead and was fresh for now, but I thought about going home to get it into the fridge before too long. So, I did go home. On the way I saw all these fisherman on the bank looking down off the semi cliff watching the process of the Indians collecting their fish. The anglers were not happy at all. They said it was a depressing year and they were upset because no one can catch their limit of fish, let alone have a chance to fish with all the nets and sound effects.

I then realized why there was a lone person on the bank of the river while the other person would collect the fish. He was a kinda guard to protect the collector of fish. I understand that there are treaties and I think this might be one of them. Of course it changes every year, and the anglers say that maybe next year will be a better year for anglers.

Anyway, I decided no more fishing for me this year or perhaps at this time. Felt the tension in the air (when I realized what was happening) and I don't want to be in the middle of it. Although I did have a great time, and met very interesting people. I do wish people could get along, I just loved what I learned so far, and was yearning for more.

Well, I've got to pack up for the ocean. We'll leave early tomorrow. Want to clean a little in the house, so when I get home, things at least are put away and semi clean. I can't wait to bring home massage stones as big and probably bigger than my fists. YEAH!

I'll check in later today to see how ya all doing.

Good afternoon!

Been busy with everything as usual. Still working out with the CLX rotation. Been doing good and feeling much better.

Sounds like you are all busy too. Going to get to my sewing now.

Have a great rest of the evening!

Good Morning!

I have been having quite the time logging on in the evening -- as it is I'm having to log on from my husband's computer.

Janie, what a story -- and first hand experience -- wow! I so love this -- of course, you know, I probably would have sat for ages and talked and talked and talked to these people -- I'm afraid I probably would have forgotten about the fishing in lieu of learning all I could about the people who were there protecting their fish. What an experience. Thanks so much for sharing that with us. I'll have to go back and read it again when I'm not so worried about getting these taxes done and sent in. Each year I wait till the last moment.:(

Rhea, am so glad to hear from you. Yeah, life is busy, busy and seems to be getting continually busier. I told my husband that I'm getting a little tired of living from one emergency to another. But then I was gone for so long, that I guess I should expect this. Eventually, I'm hoping that things will calm down to a more normal pace.

Yesterday was step only from IMAX3. Not sure what today will be -- spent the morning once again on finances.

Have a super day everyone!:D

Yep, it has been busy, but isn't it great to be home? I just smile inside when I think of DH being home. I bet your DH does the same thing.

It has been absolutely beautiful in the mountains lately. The skies are so bright and blue with a sparkling crisp outline of the mountains. I just love the changes of the seasons. Autumn and Harvest are just wonderful.

Well, back to the workout stuff....today was Burn Intervals for me. I'm going to be out of town for a couple of days, so I'll talk to you on Monday or so. Have a great rest of the week!

Good Evening!

What an uplifting email, Rhea. I think I could see those mountains myself. :)

We get those views here, too, sometimes, but I think it's prettier up your way than down here where I am.

Your workouts look good.

Today was a day off for me. Tomorrow I'll do the 2nd half of LIC. They are about 45 minute workouts each one -- 1/2 and 1/2. I'm trying to up the time to 40-45 minutes.

Anyway, back to taxes for me.

EEk - taxes. I get them over and done with as soon as possible.:p

Well, back from my DH's golf adventure. I got to shop while he golfed. Then today we hit the appliance type stores and tried to figure out what I am going to want in the new house as my kitchen stuff....so many choices, so darn expensive. I'm just going to have to squirrel away little pieces of money all the time so I can save up for it or we'll never have the house done! But this is supposed to be my "dream" kitchen, just within budget. lol

Well, ate terrible this weekend, as usual when I'm away. When you don't want to spend lots of money eating out, you end up with the cheap cruddy stuff.

Hope you aren't too buried in taxes KK. Janie is off in DisneyWorld, isn't she?

Rhea, Love it when us girls can shop! Do show pictures of your kitchen. I bet it will be so beautiful afterwords. I'm back on eating nice, but I have to tell ya, while visiting the ocean, I wasn't too bad.

My adventure:

Hope this doesn't get boring but here it goes. We left home at 6am and reached Newport in Oregon about 1pm. We made sure that we registered before we did anything. Went to the beach I wanted to desperately go to, to collect massage stone/basalt stones.

It was as I read about! Cobble Beach was full of these remarkable black stones, with a hint of blue, most as big as my fist and much bigger. When the tide came in, and the rocks went back out again, they had this most loud but delightful sound to them. It was almost mesmerizing. The view was spectacular, and one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There were several islands made of of this basalt rock. Just a little history about basalt: In Washington state there was a volcano that erupted in the Yakima Columbia Basin it's lava spread out into the state, and parts of Oregon and Idaho. When this lava cools quickly is gets very hard and smooth and as a result you get this rock that holds heat wonderfully, like for massages. Anyway, You go down these steep wooden stairs (about 10 flights) to get to shore. Just before you get there, there is a sign that reads "No Collecting". What? It was so disappointing, cause when I looked from the car there were only sandy beaches and this is the only beach that has these remarkable stones weathered from the ocean tides.

I had to get my mind off the disappointment and walked around the beach enjoying the sound and creatures that live in the tide pools. Nearby was a lighthouse and so we climbed back up the stairs and walked over to it. There were even steeper steps and many more flights up to the light. But OH, once you got up there, the sight was just out of this world. We could see the other islands with seals on them, and pelicans, (one of my favorite birds beside the humming bird) doing what they do best. Sunbathing. Such a life. Only one problem with this though, were the flies. There were thousands of them flying around and landing on everything. Must have been the season for them. Hoping we don't have to encounter that at our campsite.

We did finally leave to set up our site. Yeah! No flies. We dropped things off and decided to take a stroll on our own beach, walking distance away from our camp. LOW and BEHOLD! Thousands among thousands of basalt stones! Just as big as the Cobble Beach had. But maybe a little more round and smoother. Since this was BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land, we were able to collect as many as we wanted. And boy did I ever. What I don't use for massaging we will use in our landscape. I did collect a garbage barrel full. It was glorious!

I collected until I just couldn't see anymore, it was getting darker and time to get to bed. What a fantastic day.

The next day (Thursday), We went for a 5 mile bike ride. Got off our bikes and combed a beach. Picked up shells, and strange looking things. Went out on a chety to watch people fish. Nothing else was happening so decided to go to Agate Beach.

Couldn't really find it, so we went out and started walking the beach in the direction of Agate Beach. Oh, by the way, there were some more basalt stones there two, not everywhere, but they were there. We walked about 7 hours, I don't know how many miles that was, but my hips were starting to hurt. We ate protein bars and drank my special tea as we walked. We never did see a sign that we were on Agate Beach, but thought we did manage to get there anyway. It was glorious! Pelicans were resting on the beach and you could almost get close enough to touch them. All kinds of Sea life.
TO BE CONT'D

Janie

After Agate Beach, we decided to go to the Rock Quarry. It wasn't a very long walk, and when we did get there, there were seals playing in the water. Islands all over the place where they would be laying out in the sun. Big ones little ones, they are such a fantastic animal. Couldn't go as far as we wanted into the quarry because they had it blocked off. Oh well. It was still a great adventure though.

By then it was getting to be rather late, so we decided to go back to camp. I couldn't resist collecting yet more stones. I was obsessed, and literally couldn't stop myself. I came back tired and hungry. Fried eggs and potatoes and had them for dinner. Joey went to sleep about 6pm, I read until about 8pm and went to bed. Hey, I usually stay up until midnight at least.

After breakfast, we went to the Aquarium. Oh my, they had the most wonderful things to see. Better than the Seattle aquarium, which I thought was the best. We even got to touch the animals that live in homemade tide pools. What a fantastic experience that was.

There was a hiking trail we wanted to go on, so that's what we did next. It was only about 3 miles, but the view, was spectacular. We were above the ocean and could see it from a distance. God must love man to give us such beauty! That's when I'm most close to him, when I'm in the mist of all this awe.

Went back to camp, and yes, you guessed it, I COLLECTED AGAIN! What is wrong with me? It wasn't so much this time around and got back to camp, made dinner and went to bed early. We plan on getting up and head back home.

Had the most wonderful time. Hope you all didn't get bored, but you asked for a report.

Will be doing Rhythmic Step later today, and washing and putting away massage stones. Can't wait to give Joey a massage. Will have to wait though until I come back from Florida.

Today Chasie will come to visit until Wedn. then we take Chasie back and to Disney World we go, the next day. Joey will stay with Sid until we come home.

But until then, I'm home, will be posting and getting more excited as Disney World approaches.

Talk again later,

Janie

Good Evening!

Wow, Janie, what an adventure -- I don't think I've ever seen these kinds of stones -- maybe I have and I just didn't know it. How cool is that that you were able to find a place where you were able to collect them.

Bet they'll make a great addition to your garden.

Gosh, Rhea, my eating hasn't been great, either. I went 3 pounds over the highest weight I can tolerate and getting it back down is not easy at all. Not at all.

Taxes aren't done yet -- ugh! I hate doing them -- it's why I put them off every year -- usually until the last moment. Need to have them done by Wednesday, however, as we get a discount from our accountant if we get them in in September. :)

But we are busy, busy, busy with other things, too. No adventures, like you, Janie, but busy.

Today was a premix from SJP -- 46 minutes -- am trying to get my time back up there.

Have a super day, everyone, and thanks for sharing your adventures, Janie.:D

KK,

Get those darn taxes done. LOL

Well, off I go to pack. Will stop off at Tina's and Sid's to spend the night, then to Orlando early the next day.

See ya all when I get back, will miss you both.

Janie

Janie - Have fun!!! Wear Mickey Mouse ears for me!

KK--
Are they done yet? I sure hope so, I so do not like taxes either. I have not like them since I was in private practice. My tax bracket was one of the reasons why I went to work for the government.

Let's see, been busy cleaning up around the house and putting things away for the summer. Tonight I need to get to the apples and probably try to get some of my warmer clothes out. We might even have to start a fire tonight. It was only 59 degrees in my house when I went home at lunch. It was 58 outside. Not much difference! Probably should unhook the swamp cooler too since it lets in a lot of cold air. I think it will get to freezing tonight. Wow, 90s this weekend and 58 today.

I did Burn Circuit 1 today. Only workout I did, but I upped the weight on a few of the exercises because they were too easy last time. I think I'll be nice and sore tomorrow.

Have a great evening!

OOh, I took a rest day today since I got too busy at work and just worked all day. Even ate at the darn desk....:(

Good Morning!

Sorry, I've been off the forums lately. Just so much to do. Yes, I finally got the taxes done and sent to our accountant. What a load off my mind -- it would be better if I'd just do them in April, but I so dislike them that I put them off and put them off and put them off until the last possible moment. Sigh.:(

Anyway, yesterday was anaerobics only from 4DS Bootcamp and day before was the TotalBody Sculpting -- the time is right on that and so I find myself doing it over and over.

Today am planning a circuit of some kind.

Anyway, boy things are tough for us right now -- just really, really tough -- but anyway, hopefully things will get better.

Rhea, your workouts sound like such fun -- and it's been cool here lately too -- but I so love it, I'm savoring that cold.

Have a super weekend, Rhea -- I think Janie's off to Orlando and lots of fun. :D

I'm am going to try and get a workout in today between the house cleaning chores.

KK - congrats on finally getting those taxes done. Things will look up soon!

Well, off to dust, vacuum or whatever....:)
