KK's July Rotation

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was KPC/Legs & Glutes premix with abs. Good workout. I like this KPC more and more. The premix had just leg presses in it, so a bit boring. Cathe uses 15# weights, I used 10# for the leg presses. Good music throughout this workout and the stretch is nice at the end.

Had a nice bike ride last night on the local rail trail. 9 miles at a pretty easy pace. Will not do a leg workout tomorrow as I want fresh legs for my bike ride on Saturday (70-80 miles, with a couple good hills). Will probably do a step routine/upper body/core work. Wasn't thinking when I wrote down my routine for the week.

Today is our wedding anniversary of 26 years, so I'm getting off at noon today, though DH won't be off. That'll give me time to watch the race, shop a little and whatever I want. We'll probably go out for dinner on Sunday as we're both a bit busy until then.

Karen, did your daughter work out with you? Know you are enjoying spending time.

Have a nice day today!

Jeanette

HI!

Don't have much time to post, just wanted to say Hi and I sure do miss "talking" to ya'll. Busy with court and the heat hasn't helped with my workout motivations. So glad to here that you are both doing great.....I'll be more detailed tomorrow. I'm off to workout, finally.

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Have much to do this morning to get ready to leave for my bike ride tomorrow. Decided to not do a leg workout and just did Timesaver #1 step. It was fun, only worked out about 30 minutes and did work up a bit of a sweat. Will be sweating plenty tomorrow, believe me. It'll be warm so will start out riding 6:30 ish. Beautiful to ride there in the morning.

I'll report later on the ride. Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Good morning!

I finally got to workout. I can't wait until I can get back to a "routine." That probably won't happen until DH goes back to school however. Rats.

Karen - you inspired me to do Body Max. I think I've only done that once before. I got a bunch of the older Cathe tapes all at once, and I realized that I haven't done them all yet. It took me awhile to figure out which dvd it was on. Wow, that was a workout. I might have used a little to heavy weight for endurance lifting. I'm going to keep track of my dvds for a while and the type of weight workout included so that I can try to follow the Ready, Set, Go, guidelines. I think Body Max will qualify for some anaerobic and endurance training. I was training at 85% and above during the step and especially during the circuits. Thank goodness it was not a complicated step routine, I had no brain power left by the time the second circuit began. :p

Jeanette - How's your dad? I'm going over to Carson City tomorrow to visit my dad and step-mom. I haven't seen them since before Christmas. She's been going through chemo and had some complications, so we haven't visited.

Okay, off to work.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi all!

Just checking in. Got home from the bike ride in Fall River around 3:30 p.m. today. Was a beautiful, but hot ride today. We started riding at 6:10 a.m. and were finished (63 miles) by 11:30 a.m. We decided to cut the miles short as Cass doesn't do real well in the heat and I didn't want her to suffer. I think it was a good move. We did see beautiful country, lots of mint, wild rice and alfalfa fields around the Fall River Valley, had a couple good climbs, rode over the Lake Britton dam and visited with lots of friendly riders. We camped the night before at the fairgrounds and had a nice dinner and glass of merlot in Fall River Mills. Just a nice trip all the way around.

Came home and watched another exciting stage of the TDF. Will get up at 3:30 a.m. and watch tomorrow's live stage 15. Will be a brutal day of climbing for the riders. So far, Lance is the man.:)

Will be a rest day for me tomorrow (workout wise), but will do some yardwork, housework and then head to the river to cool off with DH and the dogs.

Take care all!

Rhea, thanks for asking about my Dad. He had an MRI that did show some arthritic changes in his back, could be causing the leg weakness. So far, no pain at all. They drove up to Alturas today to visit with friends and watch a stock horse show. Hope your trip was good to see your dad and step-mom. We sure need to make time to visit our loved ones.

Jeanette

Hi everyone,

I've been so busy, I didn't realize how long it had been since I had posted.

Jeanette - Hope your Dad is getting his strength back in his legs. Your bike ride sounded great and I too have been wrapped up in watching the TDF.

Well, I'm sticking with the July Cathe rotation pretty much although this week I ended up taking 2 day off rather than one so did 1hr of Hardcore Extreme Hi/Lo circuit to make up for the day off. I had not done that workout in a while and forgot what a great compilation it is.

Talk to you all later,
Natalie

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Natalie, I know how you feel. It's been about 4-5 days since I've posted and I feel like I've been gone forever.

The visit with my daughter was great -- there toward the end, it was real hard for me to post, as we were so busy. But she left to go back to New York last night:-( -- but we had a great time.

Jeanette, no, she didn't exercise with me -- but she's getting closer. I gave her my Timesaver DVD and told her to really try it -- she has more time problems than I do -- she works two jobs, etc. But she's definitely interested -- hope she really gives it a try.

Rhea -- isn't Body Max quite a workout -- sometimes I do only the cardio at the beginning on those days when I'm doing some short cardio and stretch -- it's one of my favorite warm up routines -- and on the weekends -- I'm beginning to enjoy the whole thing -- just getting that extra 1/2 hour is tough for me.

Jeanette, glad to hear that your dad is okay and is out there doing the things he likes to do -- that must make you feel so much better.

And Rhea, I hope that your stepmom is okay.

Okay, and this probably should have been first, but Jeanette -- CONGRATUlATIONS on 26 years of marriage. That's quite a statistic to be proud of. Hope you had a terrific day (and evening)... But gee, that's just great. And your bike ride really sounds beautiful -- what a great thing that you're doing -- sharing your bike ride with your son's girlfriend. Again, you are inspiring.

Okay, so this week, I am promising myself that I am going to buy KPC and High Step Challenge -- the two I've been wanting more and more. I've heard such good things abou KPC.

I must admit that it was sometimes hard to get in workouts when my daughter was here and there were a few days I missed, but overall, I kept up with the workouts. On Friday, did Bootcamp -- starting to like that more and more -- Saturday no workout as this was my daughter's last day here -- and today I did Cardio & Weights -- am loving that workout more and more, too.

Oh, and of course, I'm almost done with Harry Potter -- what a great book, am enjoying this one more than the last. And of course, we were there on Friday night (after 12PM) standing in line, buying our own copies -- my husband and I had to have our own copies -- my daughter, too. Love it, love it.

Okay, so for this week (and I am definitely promising myself to buy these DVD's this week) -- here is what I plan:

Monday: IMAX, the original

Tuesday: ME

Wednesday: Cardio & Stretch

Thursday: Power Hour

Friday: Sprints outside

Saturday: Body Max

Sunday: Off

Have much work to do this week -- already have the revisions back for my new novel -- plus, I have only about 2 weeks to schedule this next tour... Have decided to forget about ever relaxing this year -- don't think it's going to happen -- what I have to do, I've decided is get used to a higher level of action in my life -- as it appears that it's going to be like this for a while -- so I think I need to raise my confront a little -- plus I'm going to see if I can hire an assistant (for my mailings and such) for perhaps one day a week. That might take a little of the stress off me for a while.

Anyway, have a great workout and a terrific day.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Looks like it will again be a hot week here. Think it was over 100 degrees yesterday. No workout yesterday and we did get to go up in the mountains nearby to a pond and sit in the shade. Was relaxing.

I will still be focusing on leg work as my legs did great during the bike ride on Saturday. Also had great cardio for that ride, but then again we didn't push the pace very hard as Cass was on the ride. Her having a good time is much more important to me.

Today was GS Legs Timesaver #1 and Lowmax intervals 1-3.

Will post a rotation for the week tomorrow as I'm running out of time this morning, but for sure it will include leg work.

Karen, think Timesaver is great for someone starting out exercising. I used it for a while as it was less intimidating. Once in a while (like last week) I'll go back to it just to add on a different cardio. Variety is the spice of life. Hopefully your daughter will get a chance to get it out and try it. Okay, I promise I will order another DVD this week too. I've been looking at HSC as I hear the fun factor is good. Not sure if I want all the leg presses in HSTA. I know they are good for me, though. My butt is much less gravity bound lately, also somehow gives the "illusion" of having longer legs.

I've never read the Harry Potter books, but hopefully this winter I will start reading more.

Karen, I remember you saying that you may be going to Reno while on tour for a Romance Conference or something like that. It would be nice to meet you over there, if possible. Let me know.

Will be a busy week for me (again), but should have time to post each morning. Still watching the TDF each day. Today is a rest day for the riders and then they start back up again tomorrow. They are absolutely amazing athletes.

Take care everyone, and have really nice, productive workouts too.

Jeanette

Hello all!

Boy it sure has been hot here. Makes the workouts a little rough since there is no AC in my house. We normally don't need it much, but this year is working up to be quite a hot summer. I guess somebody thought we needed to make up for the long cold winter with extra hot.

Glad to see your ride went well Jeanette. How was dinner on Sunday? Did you do anything else special for the anniversary?

Wow Karen, it sounds like you might never slow down. An assistant would be good. Stress is such a destructive device on our bodies, need to get rid of as much as possible (geeze, look who's talking!)

Natalie - so good to hear from you. Please come back more and visit when you can!

Oh, I'm impatiently waiting for my Harry Potter book to arrive. I should have just bought it at Walmart.

Good evening all!

Am posting my rotation while I'm thinking about it:

Monday: GS Legs Timesaver #1, Lowmax 1-3

Tuesday: Legs & Glutes (floor), Cardio & Weights (step only)

Wednesday: Pyramid Upper Body (Up only), cycling evening

Thursday: KPC/Legs & Glutes premix

Friday: Pyramid Lower Body, Imax 2 1-4

Saturday: Bootcamp

Sunday: Rest

Will check in in the morning.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Natalie, I agree with Rhea -- do come and visit more often.

Rhea, I can understand how hard it would be to exercise when it's so hot. Luckily we do have an AC -- you really have to here in LA, even though it cools down at night.

Oh, did you order Harry Potter? I'm almost through -- about 150 more pages to go. This is a really good one.

Jeanette -- your rotations are inspiring. And hearing about your leg work is also inspiring. I wonder if the same would hold true for me? If I were to do more leg work, would my thighs slim down a little? It's worth a try probably.

Also, Jeanette, I'd love to see you in Reno -- thank you so much for suggesting it -- the convention is coming at the end of this month. Don't know my way around Reno -- and I have to look up the actual dates of the convention -- I think it's the 27th through the 30th -- I think -- I'll look it up and see. It's also being held at the Hilton Hotel -- not sure where that is. It's too bad that I'm not a part of the booksigning on Wednesday that's open to the public -- but I didn't have a book to promote this year and so did not sign up for the signing. But we could meet at some restaurant there or something if it's not too far out of your way to drive. I would love to meet you...and you, too, Rhea, if you have the chance.

Well, workout wise, I only did 5 of the intervals of IMAX2 today -- not IMAX the original -- only got 6 hours of sleep -- up late reading Harry Potter -- and had an appointment early, so made it short. I think I'll try to make up for it on Wednesday, by doing the cardio and intervals of Body Max -- that will give me a bit of endurance, as well as anaerobics. I might be able to add in the stretch there, as well, but if not, I'll tack it on on Saturday or something.

Well, it's off to finish up Harry Potter -- I am so hooked on these stories.

Have a terrific workout.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was Legs & Glutes (ankle weight exercises) and Cardio & Weights (step only) for me this morning. Boy, was I sweating with the cardio. Partly because it's been hot, but also think I'm letting go of the water from the bike ride this weekend.

Karen, I would love to drive over to Reno to meet you. Friday works out best for me. I could hook up with Cass and we could meet you at the Hilton and go from there. Think that will work?

I do like the leg work. They feel so much stronger, even though I use lighter weights. No more fatigue in them!! I used to feel it even when walking at work. I think the tape is moving downward a bit too, though I dare not measure with this added water weight. I'm learning not to stress out so much about that as it seems to come off within a couple of days.

Harry Potter sounds wonderful. I will probably buy the books later in the year. Which one should I start with? Oh yes, I ordered High Step Challenge (hard to decide, but I picked the fun factor and music comments) and Kickmax. Lots of differing views on Kickmax but I thought, what the heck? The leg drills sound good too and I can use the premixes.

Well, must go and get ready for work. Have horse class tonite, but may skip if it's way too hot. Then I'll watch the TDF instead :7

Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Good day. Well, I did it. I bought the Legs & Glutes & KPC DVD and the High Step Challenge, as well. Finally...

Haven't worked out yet today -- am trying to catch up with many, many things and so have been working steadily since I got up...

Will be working out, soon, however. Within the hour... Plan to do ME today.

Anyway, Friday seems good -- let me rummage through my things and find the address of the hotel and email you privately on it, okay?

Can't wait to try these new workouts -- I've been drooling over them for quite a while.

Anyway, must get back to work -- so very much to do. Good workouts everyone.:7

Oh, one more thing -- Rhea -- if you get your Harry Potter and read it, let me know what you think of the ending...

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie!

It was Pyramid Upper for me (up only) and stability ball abs. I almost did all of the pikes. Our puppy picks that time to come out and give me kisses while I'm trying to do them.

Karen, glad you ordered KPC/Legs & Glutes and High Step Challenge. I got HSC also, so we can compare notes on this. Mine will arrive next week. I really do like KPC/L&G and it has tons of premixes on it that are really useful and help if a person is in a time crunch. Legs and Glutes has a lot of variety to it. I have a shorter version of it on Timesavers, but the full length version is very good. Mostly, I split it up between floor and standing work. Personally, I find CTX Leaner Legs kind of boring, though I use CTX a lot for other workouts.

Due to the heat (and wanting to watch the TDF after work) I didn't go to horse class, but will go on Saturday a.m. when it's cooler out. Tonight, will do about an hour of cycling after getting my hair cut.

Karen, I'm looking forward to meeting you next week. I've been reading the threads on the Roadtrip that was last weekend in New Jersey at Cathe's place. Sounds like a super successful weekend for everyone. Sure wish I could have been a part of it. Cathe sounds like such a special person. I feel very fortunate to have found her workouts. My sister (age 48) lives in Atascadero and has been working out for about a year and a half, but has plateaued on her weight. She's been doing a Jorge Cruise program, which has weight work, but she doesn't do much cardio, which I think would really help her. She's a bit frustrated that the scale is heading up and not due to muscle building either. She tries to eat cleanly, but hard when she has to make desserts for Grandma (to fatten Grandma up). I've suggested the Cathe DVD's, but I try not to push too much. So hard not to be enthusiastic about these DVD's! She's only about 4'11 so any weight really shows up.

Oh yeah, my DH gave me 2 nice comments yesterday about my legs feeling stronger. He said that the flab (inner thigh, etc) has really changed for the better. He doesn't give compliments out too much, so I felt pretty good about it. The freestyle leg work must be helping, though I knew it was!!

Good workouts everyone.

Jeanette :D

Good morning!

Jeanette - congrats on the compliment from the DH! When the guys actually notice, you know something is working right. You will like HSC, it is a fun one and very challenging. I wish I had been able to go to the roadtrip too. It would have been so fun and awesome to meet Cathe. I think I would have been a bit intimidated to do a live class with her though. Yikes. At least with a dvd, you can pause to catch your breath if needed.

Karen- Well, got the book Monday, finished this morning. I totally loved it, but I'm really bummed about the ending. Sigh. Just not right. I keep thinking he'll come back to life. Of course, she really set it up for the next book. Is it done yet? LOL.

Heh, I would love to come meet you in Reno. Were the days the 27th through the 29th? That would leave only Friday for me too since court on Wed and Thurs. Now if court doesn't spill into Friday. :p

Hey Karen, I just saw that you might be there through Sat? That would be better with my darn schedule next week.

My goodness, I keep forgetting to put my workouts in....

Yesterday, while taking a break from Harry Potter, I did ME. I haven't done that one for such a long time. I forgot how fun it is, Cathe is just a crack-up. I think I need to put this in weekly or at least bi-weekly. I even kept track of the weight amounts this time.

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was KPC/Legs & Glutes premix for me this morning. Karen, I think you will really like these workouts. They just keep moving and you don't get bored. Also did the stability ball abs. So many mixes to hit different parts of the body AND get your cardio in too.

Cycled after work and haircut yesterday. Was warm. Met one of the Gold Rush Randonee riders yesterday. They are ultra distance bike marathon riders. They have to complete their ride (Davis to Davis Creek, CA and back to Davis, CA in less than 90 hours, 750 miles or so). He said it was incredibly hot climbing up from the valley up to Susanville and that a lot of riders were not going to finish the ride, which is too bad. I rode back with him for about 10 miles. Fun to talk to, even though he was incredibly tired and had not slept in over 24 hours. The rest stop was in Susanville so he didn't have far to go to get something to eat and sleep for a few hours. Our bike club is helping on the rest stop and I will do a shift of 4 hours today from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. I also go back for a shift tomorrow 6-10 a.m.

Rhea, I will be meeting Karen next Friday at noon, and you are more than welcome to come along with me. Will probably stop at Home Depot and a couple shops also, but will be back in the afternoon.

Am enjoying the TDF, looks like Lance has this one wrapped up. Looking forward to the individual time trial on Saturday, where I think Lance will try to win that stage as that's always been a pretty important stage for him to prove he's the strongest rider.

Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette! Hi Rhea! And Hi Natalie!:)

Jeanette, I'm really looking forward to meeting you on Friday -- Rhea, we are meeting at noon at the Hilton Hotel if you'd like to come. Or if Saturday would be better for you, we can work that out, too. We could email on this privately, if you like, the three of us -- but I could work in Saturday, too. I think I have an appointment with my editor around 10AM on Saturday -- let me look -- yeah, 10AM -- will probably go about an hour and so could see you around noon on Saturday, as well, if that would work out for you. Really staring to look forward to the trip now.

Workout wise I did Power Hour today -- sort of a cousin to ME, but not quite as much fun as ME, in my humble opinion -- though it's still a great workout. ME is still my favorite -- Cathe is a scream on it -- and ME always kicks my butt.

Can't wait for the new DVD's -- am hoping to have them by the weekend. If so, I might do HSC on Saturday.

Okay, now about Harry Potter. Yeah, the ending was really a bummer for me. My hubby and brother--in-law and mother-in-law and my daughter, too, were very upset by the ending. For me, it would be sort of like killing off Samwise in Lord of the Rings. I've loved these books so much and the movies, too, but was so upset with the ending, I haven't even been able to watch the movies or anything. Of course as a writer, I'm not sure why she felt compelled to kill him off and end the story on such a huge loss -- she could have done so many different things with equal effect and without the loss factor. I know where she's going on it (or at least I think I do) and her reasons for it (I believe) but I really don't agree with the need to kill him off. Darn...

Okay, onto happier things -- I, too, would love to meet Cathe but would be a little shy of doing a workout with her. I never go as high as she does in weights -- except for once today on biceps -- for the first time I was able to match her weight.

Jeanette -- what a great thing -- and sounds like fun, too -- to help with the 750 mile Davis to Davis Creek ride. 750 miles -- no sleep in 24 hours -- goodness!

Anyway, I'm up to my ears in maps and schedules and phone numbers and bookstores -- am scheduling out the new tour... Sigh...

Well, have a great day, everyone. I so enjoy our chats.:7
