KK's April Rotation

Hi Everybody!

So nice to hear from you, Natalie! It's been a while. Sorry the work schedule has kept you away, but at least you're hanging in there on workouts.:)

That Shape It Up workout sounds like it really worked you well, Jeanette. Yes, I really love these pre-mixes -- you can really decide for yourself what you're doing that day.

Mentioning taxes reminds me that we have to file an extension until I can get all the tax data together. Glad you said something about it.

Well, it was Supersets for me today -- that's a really good workout and not too terribly long for an all body workout.

Hope everyone has a terrific weekend. Sorry about all that rain.:-( Hope the weather holds up here for a little longer, since I have this tour to do. Great workouts everyone!:7

Hi everyone,

It's nice to be back, Karen. I'm hoping for a less busy April.

I am disappointed to read about Cathe's continuing orthopedic problems. I may have to order one of the workouts that I don't have as the new ones look like they won't be here for awhile. I'd like some of those Slow and Heavy workouts, maybe or the Pyramids. I've been trying to substitute those Pyramids this week for the March rotation.

The weathe has finally warmed up today, so I'm going to go for a run/walk.

Have a great day everyone,

Natalie

Hi Natalie, Karen, Rhea & Jeanie:

Good to hear from you Natalie! Nice you have good weather, our's still isn't cooperating so it's really put a damper on outdoor aerobic activities for me, but still getting cycling in a couple times a week. I love the Pyramids and Slow & Heavy. I've been doing Slim Series, alternating with Cathe cardio every other day to see if I can get a little slimmer in my legs and arms. So far, I like how my arms are looking and the legs are firming up little by little. Not sure if they are any slimmer yet, but it's only been a couple of weeks. I'm trying to see if less weight, more reps will work better with my short body structure.

Karen, glad I reminded you of your taxes. Our appointment went well, if you call getting money back going well. I also started putting together the Bowflex and it has good assembly instructions so we'll see how far I get today. Had a nice time with mom and dad last night. We all watched March of the Penguins and they enjoyed it. I'd seen it before but thought they would like it. I also activated their new Tracfones for them.

Today's workout was fun. I did MIC (Maximum Intensity Cardio), omitting the high impact on the Hi/Lo and then did the rest of the step routine. It was a lot of fun. I'd never done the step from it, but it's pretty easy, but not too repetive with the instruction, which I liked. I will definitely do this one again! It has some interval blasts in it at the end of the step routine. You get a nice stretch too. The way I did it ran altogether about 1 hour.

Well, must get my shower, do a little housework and then start putting together the Bowflex. Tomorrow, I hope to do the Sunday group ride (weather permitting).

Good workouts to everyone!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Natalie & Rhea & Jeanie!:)

Didn't post on Saturday as I got really busy and hadn't slept well and so slept in till 12:30 to get enough sleep. So I missed my workout. But today, I got back on track with a Sprint 8 -- Natalie, a Sprint 8 is sprinting as fast as you can for about 30 seconds, slow down, turn around walk back, grab a sip of water maybe, then do it again for 8 consecutive times -- includes a warm up -- I usually walk and then jog for about 10 minutes -- a cool down and stretch and usually takes me about 40-45 minutes with the stretch and all.

So it was a good day.

Natalie -- I'm with you -- I've preordered the new ones, but I think what I'm going to be ordering next is the CTX series -- I don't have it and Jeanette loves it -- and I think I'll like it, too. So I think that will be my next purchase. I love the Pyramids and Jeanette loves the slow and heavy -- which I don't have.

Jeanette, I think you're incredible to try to put the Bowflex together -- those things tend to perplex me, I must admit -- the directions are usually more daunting than the equipment in general for me.:+

Loved the movie March of the Penguins -- I'd love to see more movies like that -- particularly about wolves or bears, I think. What are Tracfones, by the way?

Ah, now I understand your rotations, Jeanette. Very smart, and I think you may be right -- lighter weight and more reps -- as it is -- maybe cause of my age or whatever -- I don't go up in weight very much -- stay around 16 pounds on my bar and 3 up to 8 lbs hand weights -- although for bent over rows, I'll often go up to 10 lbs. But I think that's fairly light. And yet the definition in my arms and legs is pretty good and keeps getting better and better,I think.

Well, it's Sunday, the time when I think about the coming week's rotation. This is a hard one because I start the tour on Tuesday -- I'll try to be regular about posting -- am hoping my computer problems won't follow me on this trip -- but this rotation could be a hard one for me. So here's what I plan.

Monday: HSC premix

Tuesday: First day of tour -- sigh -- cardio and stretch (easy day)-- perhaps a fast walk

Wednesday: IMAX2 -- at least 8 intervals -- maybe less depending on time

Thursday: (hubby flies in this day) Supersets

Friday: cardio and stretch -- perhaps one of the new Blast step premixes

Saturday: Sprint 8

Sunday: Off -- Sunday is a big day for me -- so this will be the day to take off.

Well, that's it for now. Have a wonderful evening, a great day tomorrow and terrific workouts everyone!:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie!

Today I chose to do Cool It Off, a stretch tape from the Slim Series and it was exactly what I needed. I also have a massage after work today so am looking forward to that too. Yesterday was a 40 mile bike ride in some windy type conditions, a good workout with 4 of us cycling. After that, I came home and watched the Tour of Flanders bike race on the Outdoor Life Network. Those pros are just incredible. There was a section of cobblestones on a hill that was soooo steep that most of the 199 riders got off and walked up it. Think it was like a grade of 22%!! I enjoy watching the bike races and can really appreciate how hard and fast they ride.

I finished setting up the Bowflex in my computer room. It wasn't hard to assemble at all. The instructions were perfect! I did a short workout on the Bowflex last night, just figuring out the power rods and what weights work for me. It does work more stabilizing muscles too. Hopefully, tonite I can help DH do a workout and write down the weights that he will use. I've also asked him to ask his physical therapist today which exercises to avoid for his shoulder.

Karen, sounds like you will be busy this week. Nice that DH comes in again this week. Will he be joining you on the tour? How is your hip? Sure hope it is not nagging you any more. Last week when I was in Chico, I worked out in a weight room at the hotel and attempted a shoulder lat machine that was set too high up for me. I strained my neck just a bit and have felt it all week. The stretching this morning feels pretty good on it and I will have my masseuse work on it a little more tonite.

Yes, Karen, I do recommend CTX highly. It's so easy to insert bits and pieces of these shorter, intense segments into a schedule. Also, the Upper Body workout is definitely an endurance one and will challenge you if you do the whole thing.

Must get a move on now. Great workouts to everyone today! Oh yeah, woke up to snow on the deck. Am I in Narnia?

Jeanette

Good morning all!

Natalie.....so great to "hear" from you. Sorry you have been so busy. Glad that workouts are still there for you though.

Karen - good luck with that road trip. At least it is the tail end and the light at the end of the tunnel is home at last!

Jeanette - not Narnia, but Siberia. At least it manages to get a little warmer in the day. I even worked in the yard this weekend. Sweatshirt and hat were warm enough. Well, at least until I fell in the pond. Yes...go head....it was funny. I actually was working on the pond (raising the leaf skimmer, called a wier) I finished that horrendous chore and was attempting to clean the green slime off the water fall and around the first level of the pond (which was only about 2/3 full) Dang that stuff is slippery. Well, since I fell in I figured I might as well check all the plants, etc. Somehow I'm missing a water lily. I think my doggie went swimming/diving and got one. I do remember a water plant basket being out and wondering how in the heck did it get out of the water.
The garden area got my attention on Sunday. One thing for this continued moisture, the ground is soft enough for the grass weeds to be pulled. There is one area in my garden that gets rock hard and it is almost impossible to get the grass weeds out. I cultivated that entire area and put Preen down. I found that Preen (controls weeds by not letting them seed) really works well, especially around my roses. So hopefully this year, no more grassy stuff!

Well, got to get back to work. Have a great day everyone!

(don't know what workouts will be... probably P90 circuit and the new Cardio Party #3 from Turbo Jam)

Hi Everybody!:)

A quick post before bed -- have to be up early tomorrow.

Rhea, okay, I did laugh -- felt good, though. Can just picture you falling into the pond.

Jeanette and Rhea -- both your workouts sound good. I sympathize with you, Jeanette, with the neck pull -- I've had that happen before -- but like you, I found that the stretching helped and I bet your massage will help, too.

Those rides -- 40 miles -- sound good -- and I'm still impressed with your setting up Bowflex.

Would say more, but really have to get to bed. Good to hear from you both, though.

Have some wonderful workouts and a terrific day tomorrow!:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Rhea, I just busted out laughing when I read how you fell in the pond, I somehow could just picture it happening. You're really good to get out and start working. This weather has not made me want to be outside for anything yet, except cycling and that's only cuz I need to get ready for events. I keep looking ahead on the 10 day weather and don't see any sunshine faces :-( How do you like the Turbo Jams? Are they the new ones? Which ones would you recommend as I'm interested in getting some of these.

Karen, hope you have time to get in some good workouts even though your schedule is tight. Makes us feel soooo good when we do. I really can't wait for you to get back home but know the tour will be good for you.

Yesterday's massage was fantastic. Sometimes I'm just more receptive than other times and it was a good one yesterday. My neck feels much better and I had her work the muscles on the tops of my hips. Don't know what they are called but they get really sore when I just stand around. Standing in line while shopping makes them hurt. I feel like I have to squat down to stretch them out. Wish I knew of some exercises to help with these. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Today's workout was Firm It Up. I've got to say this is one tough workout for lower body for me. The pelvic tucks really get me good. Last night, I helped DH on the Bowflex and wrote down various exercises and the weights for him. Think I'll get on the Bowflex tonite as tomorrow is a cardio day and I haven't done much upper body in a while. Will also do a bike ride with a girlfriend tomorrow after work, weather permitting.

Hope everyone has a really good day today and has fun workouts. Those endorphins are great, aren't they?

Jeanette :7

Good morning all!

Hope you slept great Karen....I know I did. 9 wonderful hours. The only good thing about this weather is the fact that it is still darkish at 8:30 so I can manage to get myself to bed early.

Jeanette - I would start with the first set. It has the instructional video with the Elite 11's (the TJ moves) Then she works you into the routine with Learn and Burn and then the 20 minute workout. I use the 20 minute one all the time to add on a little more cardio. The Cardio Party #1 and #2 are about 40 minutes. The sculpt one and the ab jam one are quite fun too. Hmm, I haven't done them for a while, I might have to add one of them today.

Workout for me yesterday was the P90 circuit and then the new TJ Fat Blaster (it has four intensity turbos, yikes)for about an hour workout. Was just right. This weather is starting to get to me. I just want to burrow away and hibernate.

Have a great day....

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Love the sound of these workouts that both of you are doing. They seem to be really effective. Jeanette, did you see Cathe's new rotation? With the lower body stress? Looks good. I, however, will be having a bit of a hard time getting time to workout. It's up early, but I can't work out right away because the person below me is still sleeping. Sigh... I'll have to figure it out for tomorrow.

Hmmm. Do you suppose that Cod Liver Oil -- high in vitamin D -- might help with the "no sun blues"? Just a suggestion.

Jeanette, I do know what you mean about the muscle on top of the hip --- am wondering if rolling up a towel and placing it below the hips and just relaxing that way for about 10 minutes might help -- it sometimes helps with my hip. You'll have to figure out the best placement of the towel, probably what feels best.

And yes, I do love those endorphins.

Well, it'll probably be a month before I see 9 hours of sleep again. Touring is tiring and to boot, I just don't get enough sleep.

Tomorrow is supposed to be IMAX2 for me, but I don't see how I can do it with the woman below me sleeping. Sigh. I'll try to figure something out.

Well, have a terrific day and wonderful workouts -- oh, by the way -- it was a good kick-off day for the tour 3 out of 4 stores were incredible.:7

Good morning ladies!

Rhea, sounds like you are getting some really good workouts in. Thanks for the info on the Turbo Jam. Are Cardio Party #1 & #2 on the first set of Turbo Jams (not the recent release)? They sound like lots of fun, which I'm always up for.

Karen, the tour sounds like it's off and running well. Bet it's exciting meeting new people. Hope you figure out a way to get your workouts in. What about some power yoga? Would definitely be quieter than aerobics but still work your body. I have Bryan Kest's Power Yoga and remember it as being pretty tough. I'd be shaking and sweating.

Today was CTX cardio only segments from 10-10-10, Power Circuit and Step & Intervals for a total time of 1 hour with the stretch. Great workouts and Karen, I don't think you'll regret owning these, especially with your somewhat hectic schedules. I think of it as a tougher Timesavers. When I first started logging on here, you were doing Timesavers quite a bit, if I remember right.

Worked out with DH last night on the bowflex. Think he enjoyed it, we helped each other move the power rods for our individual settings and helped each other on form. The ab crunches he could really feel. Total workout time together was around 35 minutes. Easy enough to add into an evening. I have a bike ride today after work with a girlfriend. Hoping it's not raining. Have jury duty Thursday and Friday.

Must go now and wake up DH for him to go to work. Great workouts today, love hearing what everyone is doing!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Sorry that you can't get in the workouts in the am Karen. I like Jeanette's suggestion of a yoga, even the power type. Believe me I have Rodney Yee's power yoga and I've been too afraid to try it yet!

Jeanette - the Cardio Party #1 is part of the first package and you can get the #2 as the "deluxe" package (I think that is what it is called). I would recommend the deluxe because CP#2 is worth it. ( I think the deluxe also includes the Ab Jam and that is a great different type of ab workout. It is either that or the booty sculpt which for a weight workout, pretty fun. Aftr doing that one a couple of times, I find myself sort of beeboppin to the music in my other videos while doing weights.

Jury duty tomorrow and Friday? Hmm, I wonder whose trial....I'll have to look. If you have a chance, stop by the office and I'll also try to remember to bring those balls! The PD's office is in the second building in the back where the filing office is....tomorrow is preliminary hearing day, so look for the crowds. Off to write myself a note about the balls.....

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!:)

Another quick post. Thanks for all your suggestions, by the way -- I am going to have to look into these other workouts as soon as I am able and I really appreciate both of your imput.

No workout for me today -- sigh -- didn't sleep but a few hours last night -- tossed and turned with worry:-( -- and couldn't sleep probably due to the tour. Am hoping to get a good night's rest tonight, however. I'll make today my "rest" day, I think.

Hubby flies in tomorrow. Oh, I will be so happy to see him.

You know, this new book is getting some really good reviews. I am so thrilled with that, too. Always forget how tiring touring is -- think it's one of the problems with my sleep, is that I'm over-exhausted. But whatever it is, hope I get a good night's sleep tonight.

Have some terrific workouts, everyone -- and Jeanette -- I think it is so cool that you are working out with your husband on Bowflex -- what good support that is. Just thought I'd let you know that, once again, you have impressed me.:7

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Rhea:

I will be in to see you today. Wonder what the trials about. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

See you later today,

Jeanette :D

Good morning all:

Goodness, almost forgot to post this morning. Got my car warming up outside so will be quick!

Did Mix It Up this morning. I've got to say, I'm on my 3rd week of this rotation and feel like it's doing some good. It's slimming down my upper body for sure, though that was not as much a problem. I was getting to the point that I'd look at myself in the mirror and think my head was too small for my body. I did feel like my muscles were bigger than I wanted, though probably I had too much fat covering them, but really, for now I like the results I'm starting to get. More of a leaner body look with slender muscles, though still defined. Also, DH commented that my butt was firmer now. I haven't done any measuring yet, but will soon. I'd say the workouts are not as much fun as Cathe's but I'm looking for some slimming results here now. I'll keep you informed.

Did a bike ride yesterday with a girlfriend. We climbed a long hill (with a nice tailwind) and both felt real good. It was one of those days that you probably wouldn't get outside and ride if you were by yourself, but having someone else with you motivates you to do it. I'm always glad when I do. Actually, the sun even came out a little bit.

Today the weather should be better, but I have jury duty to go to. Tonite, our little band of lady cyclists will go over the various places in Oregon and CA and vote on where we want to do our cycling trip this summer.

Will help DH do a Bowflex workout tonite. Think I will not work out with him, but will do the leg extension machine only. Like that feature.

Must run, Karen, so great on the book reviews. Hope you can get some better sleep. I've been sleeping GREAT since I gave up that leetle cup of coffee at night. Imagine that!

Great workouts and see you soon, Rhea!

Jeanette

Jeanette - wish I could have told you earlier. Looks like a prison case, since you work there, probably can get off the jury. Did you?

Today I did the P90 Sweat (cardio one) but the longer second half..and added Cathe's Low Max premix of the combos only. Great workout. It was my goal today to try and keep the hr in my zone. The zone is very limited for the "moderate" setting 123-139...really hard to keep the heartrate there. I ended up not using my arms very much. Was mildly sucessful, out of the 1 1/2 of the workout, 40 minutes was in the zone.

Hi Everybody!:)

It was IMAX2 for me today -- interesting your comments on what you're doing on workouts, Jeanette and how it's affecting your upper and lower body. For myself, I can't go very heavy in weights -- although what I do work out with is challenging enough, that's for certain. It's great that the body is responding like you would like it to.

Hi Rhea, your workouts sound great.

Have a big day ahead of me tomorrow -- hubby is here -- just finished an author chat and so need to head off to bed. Plan some weight work tomorrow -- just what, though, I'm not sure right now.

Have some wonderful workouts, everyone!:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Rhea, I stopped by a couple of times yesterday, but you were busy. Thanks so much for the exercise balls. Let me know what I owe you, okay? Yep, I got out of jury duty due to a couple of things. They sure go thru a ton of prospective jurors when it's a prison trial. Too bad they can't screen beforehand for prison employees, what a waste of money to all the taxpayers, but I'm sure there's some reason/law that they can't. They didn't excuse me until around 3:00 and they still hadn't picked a jury.

Today's workout was Tear It Up. May try to get in a walk when DH comes home. I still need to jump into the shower and then get some housework done. My dad's birthday party tonite so also need to pick up some ice cream for it.

Our summer cycling trip will be around the Bend, Oregon area at the end of July. We're all really excited. We will probably base out of Sisters, Oregon and cycle for 3 days, shopping, eating, etc. after the cycling for the day. It should be a blast! There are 5 of us ladies going.

Karen, glad your DH is there, hope you get your weight workout in.

Must go now,

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

It was Supersets for me today -- I really like this workout. Did it start to finish -- no pre-mixes -- but the premixes are good, too. Tomorrow am planning either a cardio day -- one of the step workouts -- probably one of my new ones -- and a stretch. And Sunday am planning on a Sprint 8.

Jeanette, that bike ride this summer should be something special -- three days of shopping, biking with friends and eating -- what a blast. WIsh it were me -- I'll be under heavy -- really heavy deadline then.

Well, I got lost like crazy in Bradenton yesterday and so today my hubbie bought me (an early anniversary present) a GPS for my car. It's a dream. We've been using it ever since we bought it -- it was an expense and I kept telling Paul that I could use map quest and a map -- but even with these, I get lost so easily...:+ This is a real dream -- it's one of the things I dislike most about touring -- I'm/we/re almost constantly lost in whatever city we're in. And although that's not too big a deal, when one has to be somewhere at a specific time and is lost...well, it's just one of my least favorite things. So this is a really, really great gift!:7

Okay, so this book has made a Waldenbooks list -- it's one the Waldenbooks/Borders Pick List -- meaning, it's a recommended read to readers of this sort of genre. It's the first time I've made any sort of Waldenbooks list -- have been a write in on the NY Times list -- but this is something special -- something done by a company and so it's really a good feeling. Just found out about it today.

Anyway, Jeanette, hope your dad had a terrific birthday party. And hope the rest of your weekend is great!

Have a good weekend everybody and wonderful workouts!:7

Hi everyone:

Today is a trip to Reno for some shopping, so getting ready to go now. Today I did a combo of KPC and then switched to Lowmax for an hour workout.

Karen, sounds like the tour is going well. Wow, I communicate daily with someone who's becoming famous! Good for you, you deserve recognition. The GPS is a good thing. I have one that I use for geocaching. Haven't done any lately but will probably take the grandkids when the weather is better. Wow, technology is great, isn't it?

Dad's party was nice. So good to get together with everyone. I had cake and ice cream and also some yummy pecan pie bars. Back on the clean eating wagon today. I didn't do too much damage as my weight was down a bit from yesterday.

Must go now, have a group bike ride tomorrow.

Jeanette
