KK's April Check-In

Good Evening!:)

As usual on Sunday eve I like to check in just to figure out the week ahead workout wise (and sometimes work wise). This is the last full week that I have to finish the book -- I'm taking my time on the ending, since this is the end of the four book series -- so I'll need to tie things up pretty well, I think.

Oh, some exciting news. We went to hear Ron Paul speak on Saturday. I was so excited because I so very much respect him. So I got to shake his hand, get my picture taken with him and tell him that I think he is a hero. :)

Anyway, I didn't exercise on Sat. -- not a great week for me exercise wise. Hopefully this week will be better. Oh, and today was the 51 minute premix on HSC. Good workout. Here's the plan for the upcoming week.

Mon: IMAX2 -- going to start to try to do more than 5 intervals -- I'll take it on a day by day basis.
Tues: ME -- premix (hopepfully I'll be up for it)
Wed: BodyMax cardio & stretch
Thurs: Supersets
Fri: IMAX1 -- as many intervals as I can
Sat: KPC
Sun: Off

I'm kinda in a rut here workout wise, but am not going to rock the boat on my last week before the book is due -- I'll look more closely at it after deadline.:)

Have a super day everyone and some terrific workouts.:7

Good morning,

Pretty quiet weekend at our house. I did pick up the new woodstove on Saturday. DS and Cass's son were here visiting for the weekend, which was very nice. Didn't get a workout or bike ride in yesterday as it was drizzly pretty much all day.

Rhea, wasn't the hail something? Lightning too! No riding for me this weekend, but a friend of mine (Ceci Cesmat) rode the Chico Wildflower yesterday. Said it wasn't too bad down there on Sunday.

Karen, you are close to the end of the book now, bet the ending will be great. Hope you get out of the workout rut soon. I've got enough different ones to keep me busy for quite a while. I did the new Squeeze workout and I was feeling it with 2# weights!!!

Got to run, hoping to get my bike ride in tonite as we have a hill climb competition on Thursday.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Yes that lightning and thunder was a change from the snow! Hail too...thank goodness I was inside.

Let's see, wokrouts....Friday - no workout, only a massage. Saturday was the Cardio Fusion, All Cardio mix and then I added on Ab Jam. Yesterday was one of the Timesavers, #1. This week I'm going to try all the timesavers. I've never done them all. So I figure this week would be good and then nex week I can start up either the April rotation or the May one, depending on which one I like better. I have not been very good with rotations at all. I need to get some consistency going so I can see some improvements instead of buying my big size pants. hahaha.

Karen - don't work too hard this week.

Good Evening!:)

Well, I managed to get done 7 intervals today instead of 5. So I was happy with that.

Actually Jeanette, your weekend sounds like it was all warm and fuzzy. Hopefully, I, too, will have all warm and fuzzy weekends in the future. And your rotations are always an inspiration.

Rhea, are you talking about the Timesaver workouts from the Blast series? I gave those workouts to my daughter, but I did them now and again, and I liked them. I, too, am doing Timesaver workouts with almost all the workouts right now.

Hopefully I won't have to work too hard, but I do have to get the book done -- I'm working on the last scene now -- probably a 20 or so page scene. Whew!

Tomorrow is ME -- Timesaver -- for me tomorrow -- hope I'm up for it -- I'm still slightly detoxing. So I'm easing my way up to longer workouts.

Well, I hope you have a super day and some terrific workouts!:7

Good morning,

Looks like it will be another pretty day. I got a bike ride in after work last night and it felt sooooo good. Today's workout was the standing work from Butts & Guts and then 3 lower body exercises from Squeeze. Burning, burning. Tonite DH and I will go out to the woods with the dogs. The gnats are out at work, they ate my scalp all up when I went for a walk during my lunch hour. No more desert for a while.

Karen, hope your writing is great today. Actually, my weekend was kind of low key for me, back to the fast lane this week. Work will be busy today, I can just feel it. The wine is fermenting well in the carboy.

Rhea, Cardio Fusion and Ab Jam sounds like a good, fun workout! Good choice.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Yesterday I did the Timesaver #2. I was going to add on Ab Jam, but #2 had enough tough core stuff (i.e., pikes on the ball) so I opted out of more ab work. I might add it on today depending on when I get to workout and how much core work there is on #3.

Weather is finally starting to look wonderful. It was a nice evening yesterday and today the sun is shining and it is pretty warm all ready. I'm very ready for good spring weather.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Evening!:)

It was Supersets for me today -- had ME scheduled but had a time crunch with work so I opted for the 53 minute workout. Those biceps are pretty tough.

Jeanette, Butts and Guts is a pretty tough workout, I think. And am so glad that you're back to getting in the bike rides. It was nice here today, as well, and yesterday, too. I even got a bike ride in yesterday after work. None today, however.

Rhea, those Timesaver workouts are fun -- like I said, I gave mine to my daughter, who loves them. Am glad the weather is starting to cooperate, though.

Jeanette, is that a saying about the wine and such? I've never heard it before.

Got in 8 pages today but had hoped to finish to the end of the book -- well, almost to the end. But had hoped to finish the dramatic scene -- had trouble with it, though. Am hoping nothing is wrong with it... Hope to get the dramatic scene done tomorrow -- then the final scene that ties up everything, and then onto edits.

Edited to make a comment about those gnats -- didn't know the desert could get those that badly. Shame to have to stop going there -- but hopefully it will only be for a little while.

Tomorrow is cardio and stretch. After these many years of stretching, am starting to notice that I'm a little more limber... slow but sure, I guess.:+

Have a super day tomorrow and come terrific workouts!:7

Morning,

Today was the hi/lo and weights premix from Step,Jump & Pump. I added on the abs and planks and stretch for about a 55 minute workout. Fun and I always love the music in this one. Will try to get in an easy spin after work today. Got to go out to the woods last night with DH and the dogs. It was relaxing and warm. Administrative Professionals Day at work so acting boss is taking us to lunch. Should be nice. Oh yeah, my buns are really sore from B&G and Squeeze yesterday. B&G was only the standing work. I think that Squeeze really got in there good in my tush. Noticed the soreness while laying in bed this morning. That's rare for me to feel it there.

Karen, glad to see the stretching has helped. Not sure I've asked before but have you ever done any yoga? Today's the day for the dramatic ending to your book? How exciting! Bet your mind is always running ahead. I remember either Push/Pull or Supersets had the really tough bicep work.

Rhea, I'm also enjoying the weather. I need to get out and do some yardwork. Glad you are enjoying the Timesavers. They are good ones. I'm really enjoying my Cathe DVD's now. Just needed a break from them. The Body Blast Series is one of my favorites and she's so cheerful in them, but not in a fakey way.

Jeanette

Good morning...

Yesterday was Timesaver #3, plenty of core, so no ad-ons. Today I think I will be working through lunch and leaving a bit early, so I'm toying with the idea of doing Drill Max. I'd like a little bit longer workout and want to sweat just a little more. I can feel the detox effect and I really need to work off those darn dark chocolate M&Ms. They are very tasty, but so bad for you. :p

Talk to you later! I sure hope these clouds go away, I really liked the nice bright warm weather yesterday.

Hello ladies!

I do still exist, I am just a studying machine. Only 6 weeks till my boards. I only have 4 more days of classes and then tons (well, actually only 5) tests. My brain may just explode.

I hope you are all doing great. I have been keeping up w/ my workouts, just not my posts, but I am going to try and correct that now. I have been doing Cathe's rotation for this month (although I did have to tweak it a tad to fit my schedule). Today I did IMAX 1. Crazy how that works me like crazy.

Tomorrow is supposed to be PUB plus the bonus cardio.

Sorry I have been so absent.

Becky

Good Evening!:)

Becky! Hi! It's great to see you. We knew you were studying like mad. But it's great to hear from you again and hear how you're doing. So glad that you're able to do the rotation. I've been going through a bit of detox and so have limited my workouts to a more intermediate sort of rotation.

It was no workout for me today. I was up until 3:30AM last night working on the book -- something was wrong, cause the ending wouldn't come and so I knew something was wrong earlier, so I stayed up writing and such until it finally came to me what was wrong. Then I was up around 9:00AM this morning and I've been doing nothing but writing all day -- I had to go back and fix what was wrong, coming forward -- and only now -- it's 11:32 PM -- I just finished the dramatic ending. It's not the end of the book yet, as I have to explain the things that have happened and tie up the ends, but at least the dramatic ending is done. It'll need to be tweeked, I'm sure. But at least it's written. I'm going to get ready for bed now. Whew! What a day -- haven't even gotten out of my pj's.:+ Guess I got in about 15-20 pages -- am not sure -- at this point, it's just get to the end of the book.

Jeanette, I love SJP and once this deadline is over, I'm going to vary my workouts a bit more. I haven't done SJP for a while and I, too, like it. Also, love the blast series.

Hope you have a lot of fun tomorrow at lunch with the boss. Sounds great, actually. Oh, I don't usually do yoga only cause I'm so not limber that I tend to injure myself, so I stick with the easier for me stuff -- and of course, I've totally gotten into Cathe's stretches, but even those I had to ease into. But yes, after all these years, I'm finally noticing that I'm just a little more limber.

Rhea, did you manage to get in Drill Max today as well as Timesaver #3 -- what a schedule you've been keeping. M&M's huh? You know what my passion is at the moment? Cream - kefir cream, actually. Have to watch it on that stuff, I so crave it.

Well, it's bed time for me -- tomorrow I plan to do the workout I missed today, which was a cardio and stretch. Have some super workouts and a terrific day! :7

Morning,

Today was 30 minutes of LIC and then 30 minutes of Baron Baptist Level 2 Power Yoga. I have a club competition hill climb tonite after work. Spun the legs out yesterday afternoon on the trainer instead of going for an actual ride. Felt good to get them moving as they were a bit stiff. The lunch yesterday was really good and fun. The crew at work put on a wonderful spread for all the ladies and their bosses.

Becky, glad you are still working out, know you are busy hitting the books.

Rhea, how was Drillmax? What about dark chocolate M&M's? I hadn't heard of those. Oh my gosh..... wish I hadn't known that. Me and dark chocolate are good friends.

Karen, sounds like you made some good progress and persisted in getting the ending you wanted. Can't imagine how you formulate stories in your mind. You are such a hard worker and I really, really, really admire that in you :7

Great workouts today ladies!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Becky!! So glad to "see" you. It is almost over and then what will you do with all that time?

I didn't end up doing Drill Max yesterday. Just didn't feel like it. I was tired, so I did MIC, the non-step portion and then decided I was still too tired so I did a bit of the Ab Jam and then hopped in the hot tub. Unfortunately last night I moved wrong and pulled my neck/shoulder/back out, so now I'm sitting here in pain. Thank goodness I was able to get a massage appointment. Maybe she can get all those knots out.

Well, got to run, typing hurts....:-(

Good afternoon!

Karen, great job on finishing that ending.

Rhea, I hope you feel better.

Jeanette, I am lazy and haven't read previous posts on this thread. How did P90x work out? We are thinking about getting it for DH (I may do it too, but right now I think my next rotation may be Cathe's 1 body part per day from way back so I can listen to audio lectures while lifting and running)

What will I do with all the time? Well, my house is "booked". We live by the beach now (Gulf coast of Florida) and have family coming down every day except 2 starting the day I take boards to the day I have clinical orientation! AND THEN...my first rotation is surgery!!!!! I love surgery, want to be a surgeon, but didn't want to have it first. I wanted to have something else first so I could get the kinks out of clinical work. Oh well, just gotta jump right in there. Surgery (w/ obstetrics and gynecology being a close 2nd) is the hardest rotation of all. There is night call, up to 36 hours at a time at the hospital, TONS of reading, pompous surgeons always asking questions, and then the issue of being a woman entering a "man's club".

Anyway, must get back to studying. Oh yeah, I did PUB today. Didn't get around to doing the bonus cardio. I worked out this AM when I first got up and was feeling a bit hypoglycemic. I actually have felt fairly "fainty" all day, so I am taking it easy and upping my glucose intake (oops...did I stop by TCBY today? :) )

Have a great night everyone!

Becky

Good Evening!:)

Well, actually typed THE END today. Whew. Now I have to scramble on the edits, get it off to my editor and then BREATHE. Have a new editor now -- and I worry whether she'll like my work or not. I guess I'll soon know.

It was cardio from BM1 today -- love that warm up -- and then a stretch with the band. Felt good.

Jeanette -- how did the hill climb go? Hill climbing -- lots of muscles used in that. But after I typed THE END today, I went to Sports Authority and bought some new workout pants.;-)

I bet the lunch was nice, too. Lots of good food and good company. Oh, Jeanette, thank you for the compliment. Goes straight to my heart.

Rhea -- I was sitting here reading that you were too tired to do Drill Max, but then did MIC -- MIC is a tough workout -- at least I think so. I like that you thought it was "easier." But am sorry to hear that you are in pain. I bet, however, that the massage will work it all out so that you're back to battery really soon.

Becky -- How cool is that -- you really like surgery -- and I like the fields that you mention. OB/GYN. And a house on the Gulf side of Florida. It must be absolutely beautiful. I love the Gulf coast -- beautiful, really beautiful. Good on getting in PUB.

Well tomorrow I plan...hmmm...ME -- shortened version -- have to get down to work on those edits -- I took the night off. Since I usually post at night, I'll say to you, Jeanette and Rhea -- have a super weekend. And a super weekend, to you, too, Becky, in case you don't check in on weekends.:7

Good morning,

Today was Supersets Upper Body Blast and ME abs. The Upper Body Blast is going thru the upper body 2X. I didn't have time for the last segment of 2X so only did once. The biceps is a killer in that one. I use a 10# and still struggle. ME abs was good. Enjoyed my workout today. The hill climb competition was awesome. We had 12 riders show up, 8 men and 4 women. I had a good time and beat my last year's time by almost 5 minutes. Last year we had a headwind for part of it so is part of the better time this year.

Rhea, MIC is tough!!! It's like flight of the bumblebee. Hope the massage helped you out. Sorry you are hurting.

Becky, P90X is great. I had good results. I recommend it.

Karen, way to go on getting to type "The End". Glad you rewarded yourself with the new workout clothes. I've got my Champion catalog here so will look for some new clothes maybe tonite. I could sure use some. It was nice doing the ME abs. I thought of you and your love for ME while I was working out.

Hope everyone has a good weekend! I need to do yardwork on Saturday and will have a tough, longer climbing ride on Sunday.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Yeah Karen!! Hope the edits go as well as the book. I'm sure your new editor will love you.

Becky - what a tough schedule with company. Did I read it right, you will have company at your house while you are taking the boards? Yuck.....when I was taking the bar, nobody could be around...too distracting.

Jeanette - I only ended up doing the first part of MIC....but you are totally right....faster faster faster. Massage helped a bit, but I keep having to get up and move around. Sitting is the worst and typing does not help at all. I'm going to be leaving early today, that's for sure. Thank goodness there is not much I absolutely have to do today here at work. The thing is....when I get home....I have no idea what I'm going to do because I can't sit or lay down too long there either! Believe it or not, I might try to paint a bit or something just to keep my upper back moving.:7

Short post cause I'm not sure anyone else will be checking in.

Was ME today -- premix -- still was a good 53-54 minutes -- and Jeanette, I did the ME abs today, too. ME is such a workout. I think it's the toughest of all the strength workouts -- and I usually feel so good after doing it.

Tomorrow is some sort of anaerobic workout -- not sure yet. Edits are going slow cause my printer is broken. Whew!

Jeanette -- way to go on your time! WOW! 5 minutes.

Rhea -- yeah, keeping moving sounds good. Any chance of getting a massage on Saturday, too?

Becky -- have fun this weekend.

Okay, gotta head off to bed. :7

Good morning ladies. I took yesterday off and today I did a 3 mile run w/ DH. Will probably add on some abs later.

Rhea, I will have a lot of company in June, but not while studying. Our first set of houseguests arrive technically right when I am physically taking the boards. :) I'll come home that night and they'll be there (w/ strict instructions to have a margarita waiting for my arrival :) ) Company isn't allowed until that day! I just won't get a break is all. Such is life.

Jeanette, just might have to get P90x after all. Now we just have to decide when to buy.

Karen, so happy you finished your book. You deserve to treat yourself.

I basically moved back in w/ DH this weekend (we have been doing the Becky in Tallahassee during the week and in Pensacola during weekends since November!) I have to go back to Tally Monday AM but get to come home Tuesday at noon. (last 2 days of classes!!!!!) Then I have a test there Friday the 4th, Wednesday the 9th, Friday the 11th, and Friday the 18th. So, it will be a lot of driving, but except for this coming Monday, I will be home for dinner every night from now on! (Not to worry, driving is efficient study time as I have audio board review lectures I listen to) :) I am so happy to be back w/ DH again. This past few months were really rough. BUT IT'S OVER NOW!!! Yeah!

Anyway, must go get some breakfast. Have a great weekend everyone. I'm going to be studying by the pool/beach this weekend!

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Just finished the edits on the book -- have been working all weekend long on them -- probably a total of 8-10 hours each day and now, except for anything my hubby finds that I missed in going through it, it's ready to print and get off to my editor. Whew!

Becky -- wow, your boards and then company -- wow! But at least it's family -- and I know that margarita will be probably taste a little like heaven.

So glad you're back with your hubby, too. Being away for so long -- and newly weds, as well -- can't have been easy. You sound great, Becky, so fresh and full of energy -- go get 'em.

Actually, as soon as my book is off, I have to swing into heavy promotion mode. A tour in June -- and I have some scheduling to do -- and then of course this close to deadline, nothing has been done -- no housework, etc.x( So no rest time for me, either. But like you said, such is life.

Jeanette -- hope your weekend was terrific and that your bike ride -- you had one today, right -- was good.

Rhea -- how's that injury? Did you make it better by painting all weekend long?

Well, it's off to bed for me. Hope my printer doesn't give me problems tomorrow. :+

Have a super day, everyone and some terrific workouts!:7
