KK, March Check-In

janiejoey

Cathlete
Good Afternoon,

I am now on a week of relaxing my body with weight lifting. Today I did 29 min. of Rhythmic Step on the board, no risers. Then it started getting too complicated for me today, and went to the treadmill for the rest of the time. Which was 27 min. Altogether my cardio was 56 min. My legs are tired but doable. I may have burned 300 calories, maybe a tad more.

For Breakfast I had shredded wheat with soy milk, lunch was 4 eqq whites with 2 slices of sprouted toasted bread. I feel great. Planning on a huge shrimp salad topped with beans and homemade avocado dressing. Then before 8:00 pm I'll have an apple with maybe just a tad bit of goat cheese. Just a taste. Maybe 1 teaspoon full.

I really need to lose the weight and this week, for me, will be all about cardio and yoga, to stretch those worked muscles. I had a blood test done recently and my cholesterol was kinda high. Shame on me. Now I'm working hard to lower it.

STS is hard, but hey, that's what we have to do to get what we want. Right? Staying healthy is not easy, but it shouldn't be extremely hard either. I modify a lot and I get through it. I have many pounds to lose yet, but I have high hopes that I'll get there. I lost another 1.5 pounds this week. Not too shabby. I'm hoping by August I'll be where I want to be, it's a good start anyway.

Good Morning!

It has been an unual week this past week. I've had a bit of a setback due to illness. Pulled in a really bad cold/flu sort of thing and it's really had me down and out. I haven't been exercising due to this -- plus I haven't been on my course and I'm only about 2 weeks away from finishing.

Frustration!

Please don't think I'm crazy, but the following facts stare me in the face and it's hard to put them aside. Last weekend (not yesterday, but weekend before), there was a concert in the park next to where I study. All day and night long, there were those planes in the sky -- high up, spraying something -- the trails linger all day and night and eventually spread out. They make sort of grids in the sky -- almost like a tic-tac-toe board. It reminds me of what they did with Agent Orange in Viet Nam -- only we're the American public and hopefully not considered an enemy. But anyway, it was the last day of their spraying (directly overhead) and people began to get sick, one by one.

And the thing is, whatever this illness is, it is extremely contagious. I got it from another student who was having stomach trouble. I didn't even touch him and he certainly didn't cough in my face -- and yet 1/2 hour after working with him, I came down with the same thing he was describing. I've taken myself into a sort of isolation since it's apparent to me that this thing is extremely contagious.

What bothers me are the facts as stated above. If it is in fact a sort of bio-chemical experiment, shame on them. Last time I looked our enemies were not allowed air space in order to spray us.

Anyway, needless to say, I've not been exercising, although I lost those two pounds that have been driving me crazy -- but only because I can't eat alot while I'm sick -- they might go right back on as soon as I'm well enough to eat normally. But I'm going to try to hold back and we'll see.

Janie, it's wonderful that you bumped up the blog so it's easy to find, and I love your commitment. That weight will come off -- it's a matter of really concentrating on it and not cheating, if you can. Stay in there, my friend. And your idea on the workout looks terrific.

Hope you, Jeanette & Rhea, have had a wonderful weekend. :D And here's to the start of a terrific week.:D

Good morning,

Rest day for me yesterday, cycling on Saturday and Sunday, and golf on Friday and Saturday. Lots of sewing too.

Just finished STS #5B, good workout. Sewing tonite so no posting time. Excited to see the quilt top come together.

DH pulled his calf muscle really badly last night. Not doing anything, really. It went "pop" and he thought he someone had actually hit him from behind really hard. He can barely walk on it. We iced and elevated it. He is staying home from work today. May go to the dr. too. We'll see. My sister is dropping off some crutches this morning. Of course, I was a good wife and ran and got beer for him whenever he asked for it. Hey, it's the least I could do. Sounds like a pulled calf muscle. Similar descriptions with the "pop".

Karen, hope you get over your flu/cold soon. You've been hit a few times this year. Me too.

Janie, glad you are enjoying STS. I can see some strength gains here, which is very nice. How's Joey liking it? I'm still on the 2nd week, though it's really the 4th week as I'm doing the 6 month rotation. I did Rhythmic Step the other day, enjoy that one too. Lots of variation.

Hi Rhea, nice rain here, huh?

Good Morning,

KK, I also hope you get over what ever you have, and get back into working out.

Jeanette, My DH likes STS a lot. He and I are seeing terrific results on him. I'm still thinking about which way to go (3 mo. or 6 mo.) Leaning more twords 3 mo. but you never know. We have to start up again this Mon., so I need to decide quickly. I love Rhythmic Step. I think the next time I do it, it will be at a lower highth for me.

Today is a cardio day for me. I chose to do Power Max. I love these classics and always seem to them before anything else. I like the continued movement throughout the workout. Steady state steping. This one is around or almost an hour. During STS I like to do these workouts around 30-40 min., but this way I can really go to town and just lose those calories.

Hi Rhea, how are you doing?

Janie

Good Evening!

I think I'm better today. This cough thing seems to be the last thing to go. Hangs right in there and sometimes it's so great, Georgie looks at me as though I'm from another planet. Still no workouts for me -- just trying to get over this. Bitting at the bit. It's really only about 2-3 weeks left, if I can only get over this and get back on the bandwagon.

Jeanette, I think that's great that you're doing so much sewing. I love Rhythmic Step -- I must admit that I lean toward the older workouts. The steady state workouts -- although I do like the anaerobic workouts, also. Can't wait to be better.

Janie, you'll lose that weight -- just hang in there. Don't know about you but as I get older that weight seems to cling to me. But it does eventually go. I also swear by the two workouts a day -- one in the morning and one in the evening, if you can do it -- I can't right now.

Rhea, hope all is going well with you.

Have a super day tomorrow, everyone!:D

Good evening!

Well today was a rest day for me. I did Push Circuit #3 yesterday. It was good to get back on the workouts after having round two of the darn cold.

Karen - hope it goes away fast for you. Glad you are feeling better. My little twerps want all my attention when I'm sick.

Jeanette - rain? You must have posted before you looked outside. I can't believe that it is still snowing. We were supposed to have Bunco at my house tonight, but it got canceled due to the road conditions. OH well, now I have lots of chili to last me awhile. The only thing is I caved and still made the corn bread. And ate too much of it. Well, at least I can get some sewing done tonight. I want to get back to my quilts.

Janie - sounds like you are enjoying that STS. I can't wait until I can add it to my routine.

Good Evening,

KK, Sure glad you are feeling better. Just think, in a few weeks, you'll be home. I'm so happy for you.

Rhea, I am enjoying STS, and will start Meso 2 on Monday. I hope you can start it and combine it with your routine. That should be awesome. Enjoy your sewing.

Jeanette, Are you enjoying the snow! Lucky you.

Janie

Good morning,
Today was a total 45 minutes of Amy Bento's Dome Challenge (hi-lo) and SJP (Hi-Lo), then did the STS Abs no-equipment. Tonite I will skip my Garage Boys workout. Last night was snowing pretty good and I slip slided around coming home from Mom's. We started sewing the blocks of the quilt together. I will continue on with the sewing at my house, get the borders on and hopefully baste the batting next week at Mom's.

Janie, I know we need the snow, but don't know how "lucky" I am to have it around. Just a pain to get around in sometimes. Lots of cars off the road yesterday morning and a 3 car accident on the way to work. I avoided that route.

Karen, hope the 2-3 weeks can fly by for you. Don't know how you can do it. Way to go, though! Glad you are feeling better. I hate it when a cough lingers.

Rhea, LOL about the rain. This snow has lots of moisture in it for sure. Sorry about the Bunco being cancelled. I love cornbread and chili. Of course, I can't just make plain cornbread, have to add all kinds of goodies to it. Have you made lots of quilts? I'm already thinking about my next one, probably a log cabin type.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'm planning on just driving home from work and vegging a bit.

Good Evening!

All this talk of cornbread and chili has made me really hungry. But I'd better be good. I lost those two pounds that were lingering and I don't want them back. But it sounds so good.

Today I did work out -- started with a beginning workout cause I'm still not 100% over this yet. Did Body Fusion from the Basic Step DVD, I think. Can't believe it butit really had me sweating, even with 4 lb. weights.

Gee, that chili sounds really good -- some more sips of the green drink and then I'm going in the kitchen and make some supper.

Jeanette & Rhea, have either of you ever heard of a quillo? My mother-in-law makes them and I love them. It's a small quilt that folds into a pillow for convenience. This goes with me everywhere. It's perfect as a throw and yet again, it keeps so easily when folded. Georgie is particularly fond of it.

Janie, Jeanette & Rhea, okay so what's the meso again? I know they're body types, but I kinda forget what's what with it. I notice that Cathe's selling those on her site right now. Do you do the workouts according to your body type?

Snow? I just talked to my DH and he says there's lots of rain in the LA area. I must admit that it's a beautiful day here in Florida -- not that I've been out in it very much -- but it is sunny and pretty. In truth, there's alot of pollen in the air. And it's all over my car -- which I'm sooner or later going to have to wash.

Please take it easy there with those slippery roads. But also please have a super evening and a wonderful day tomorrow.

Oh, Janie, I wanted to tell you, I've finally gone through bar #1 of the soap -- it really lasts a long time, too, doesn't it?

Okay, I'm off...

Good Evening,

KK, Meso is Mesocycle from the STS Series. There are 3 meso's in the series each one lasts for a month, and I'm going to start my 2nd one on Monday. So glad you like the soap. I see you are feeling better. I was hoping you would soon.

Jeanette, I guess since I'm not working that if it does snow here, I can play in it, therefore thinking how lucky you were when you got it. I would hate it if I had to drive when it snowed. Be careful driving. Have fun with your mom and quilting. What wonderful memories you must be having.

Hi Rhea, did you enjoy your rest day?

Janie

Good evening!

Yep, yesterday was a nice rest day. Today was Push Circuit #1 and I upped the weights again. So much that when I was going back to work and carrying my bag of recycle paper that my arms were shaking. Must have been a good workout. LOL

I'm not sure what I'll do this evening. I think I might cut some of my quilt blocks out. It is pretty cold back here in my sewing room, so I might shuffle everything to the living room. Not like I'm going to have any company any time soon, so who cares?!

Well, talk to y'all later.

Good Evening!

Actually I think I worked out yesterday when perhaps I shouldn't have. Today I felt like I backslid a bit -- this cough is what's getting to me. I just hack away. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

So the meso philosophy -- aren't there 3 different body types? Is that what it's referring to? Or is it something else?

Rhea, so glad to see that you're working out so regularly. Have you ever heard of the quillo? I really do like them.

Janie, glad to see all is going well with you, too.

Hi Jeanette.

Have a super evening and a terrific day tomorrow. I'm sure hoping that tomorrow will be better. I'd like to be over this yesterday.:D

Oh, I forgot to post yesterday.

Well, yesterday was the Burn intervals and then Extreme Abs. Love these workouts, but the abs...oy...tough. Today was the last Push Circuit weight workout. Next week I start the Lean Phase which is weights, but with lighter ones and combination exercises i.e., lunges with biceps. A little like the old Firm stuff, but not I bet the reps are not as fast.

Take care Karen - might have to slow up on the workouts while still recovering.

Have a great rest of the day. TGIF!

Good Evening!

Well, I actually felt back to battery today and so I worked out -- a cardio -- I did Power Circuit -- cardio only from the CTX series. I still have the cough a little, but it's not nearly as bad as it was.

What I have now is allergies. Goodness! I've been in the house all the time for the past week and so haven't been out and today when I walked out the door, I was hit with allergies. There are trees here that I am very allergic to, unfortunately for me.

Rhea, looks like you are really doing well. How's that weight? Keeping it down? I bet you are.

Hi Janie & Jeanette. Have a super weekend.

I'll be getting myself back on course and hopefully will be doing everything I have to do to get done and get home. I'm anxious to get home.

Again, have a terrific weekend.:D

Hi gals,
I've attached a picture of my nearly done quilt top. More to do on it, but it's progressing. I've added pictures to my album if you want to look.

Yesterday was STS Disk 6B, which I felt today with some DOMS. Good workout. Today was the all step premix from Cardio Fusion, with the med ball abs from STS Abs Circuit. Tomorrow is golf with a couple girlfriends down in Redding, CA. Supposed to be 69 degrees down there. Really looking forward to getting out of the snow and bearing my arms, which by the way, are looking firmer with STS.

Karen, sorry about the allergies. That's a bummer. Hope you are getting some relief. Go to the STS forum and there is a "sticky" that explains all about the mesos and what STS does. I think folks are going to get great results. I'm already seeing quite a difference and I'm really only on the 2nd week of it, though I'm repeating each week. I just finished Disk 6 out of 41!

Rhea, I hear the Lean part of CLX will give nice results. Bet you get them too, what with all the energy you are putting into CLX.

Janie, how's it going? What Disk are you on now? I'm doing the 6 month rotation so I'm behind...

Will check back on Tuesday. I'm not sure if I'm working out tomorrow, but plan on riding my bike on Sunday and a rest day on Monday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good afternoon!

Today was the last day of the push phase for me. I think I will start the Lean phase tomorrow. Today's workout was the Burn It (cardio drills) and then the Recharge (yoga) Felt great. Had lots of energy. Noticed that my flexibility is much better too.

Pretty quilt top Jeanette. DH is golfing in Monterey this weekend. :( I'm not there with him darn it. I might take my golf clubs with me next weekend so maybe I can at least hit some balls at the range.

I finished my skirt and am now working on the duvet cover for the bed. I should try and take pictures of the skirt. It turned out pretty nice. I probably will only get to wear it once this spring since it is wool. Oh well. I have some other skirts to make too that are lighter weight. It is getting easier to adjust to fit. (well, I think it is, maybe I should reserve judgment until the next project! lol)

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

Good Sunday afternoon!

Just finished the first of the Lean Phase. Ouch. I though that it would be an easier type workout. Uh, no..not even. Takes not only strength, but coordination and core. I can see why results would come from this phase. Lots of muscle fatigue for me today.

Well, off to laundry and some sewing. Maybe I'll make myself a latte too since I've got to get some energy back from somewhere!:eek:

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

Good Evening!

I'm sitting here with two air filters around my neck and a mask on my face and only in this way am I finding some relief. I also have both air conditioners going, trying to filter the air also. My car has so much pollen on it -- I'm going to get it washed inside and out tomorrow and I'm hoping that this will help to take out some of the pollen. Goodness!

Well, I have -- all going well (knock on wood) -- about 2 weeks before this should be done. I've had some set-backs, but hopefully it will go better these next few weeks -- knock on wood again.

Jeanette, that quilt is a beauty -- I like the heart knitted in there -- very pretty design. Thanks for the info on where to go to find out more about the meso philosophy and what the workouts are doing. Do you have the link for the new pictures?

Rhea, your workouts look terrific -- I bet the skirt is pretty -- wish I could sew -- but oh, well.

Janie, hope all is going well with you.

Workouts next week are going to be catch as catch can. Trying like mad to get to bed early and it's already 10 PM. Goodness! Gotta get to bed now.

Have a super day tomorrow!:D

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I'll be starting disk 13 Meso.2, first week of STS. Tomorrow/Monday. My only problem though is I didn't eat very well the few days. I'll really be good this month to myself.

KK, I sure hope your allergies get better. My, what a time you are having.

Rhea, You go girl, muscle fatigue is a good thing. I bet you are seeing results.

Jeanette, Again, I love your quilt. You are a very talented person.

See you all tomorrow after my workout and catch up with you all then.

Janie
