Kickbox & Flooring Ideas

Cathlete
I did Kickbox for the first time today. What a great change from Classics! It was fun not to mention intense (for me). I really had a hard time with the constant jumping portions (the side-to-side)...very hard on the knees, but I recovered nicely. I'm sore even now and wonder if I'll be able to move tomorrow. I'm feeling it in my shoulders and biceps (of all places) and was actually hoping to feel more in the ab and leg areas. I was wondering if anyone else felt this way?

I took up the padding under the area rug and realized that wasn't the best thing to do for the knees with all of the jumping. I did figure a fix, expensive fix though. While at Toys R Us tonight I saw those squares that link together...$20 for four....it'd probably take three or four sets to make it the size I'd want. Any ideas for something with cushion (but not carpet)?

Sorry to ramble here...

TIA

RE: Kickbox & Flooring Ideas

Hi Sue,

I know others "here" have mentioned those interlocking squares before and said they worked well. I do kickbox type workouts on carpeted floor and have no problems, but then again I have never had a problem with my knees that caused pain. And I started out doing taebo before coming over to Cathe so I was used to the shuffling and sideways movement:+ . If your arms aren't used to the punching then that is where you will feel it. Did you concentrate on holding in your stomach while performing the kickbox moves? You really need to concentrate on the stomach area to feel it.:D Sounds like you had a great workout though, so enjoy the pain, I know you are seeing results.

Gotta run and take a shower!!

Hi Sue

FYI... I got some of those interlocking squares at Sam's for like $7.99. If you have one near you or a Costco, check it out.

Good luck!

RE: Kickbox & Flooring Ideas

Hi Sue, I don't have any flooring ideas because I do the kickbox right in my living room on carpet, but for feeling sore, the next day I felt it in my lats. When I did it another time I felt it in my bicep, shoulders, and lats, so I must of had better form from really practicing.
