Kick Max

BAM

Cathlete
This was one of the DVD's I was planning on buying next. I've heard mixed feelings about this one. I'm not looking for high intensity kickboxing and I believe this one fits that bill. What also appealed to me was the leg drills at the end as my thighs are a trouble area for me. Could you tell me what about this DVD that you like or don't like? Thank you!

Bam

I think this is a great video! The only high intensity is towards the end where she has the blast challange. And the standing leg drills are excellent to shape your thighs i always fell it the next day! The premixes in this video give you the option of just doing low impact.

BAM,
If you don't want high intensity then this IS and IS NOT the right DVD for you. After an great warmup and 4 kicking and punching combos (that IMO are less intense than those in KPC, but still very effective if you concentrate on good form, and snap and recoil), there is an approx. 15 min. "Blast Challenge" that is great for pushing your upper level cardio threshhold, but may be too much for many people's tastes or desires. That said, you can always do some or all of the drills, or even modify them so that they are moderate intensity. The leg drills at the end are invaluable and very different from any of Cathe's other DVD's. I think you'll really like this one, but watch the clips and see if you still have questions that maybe we can fill in more specifically.
Congrats on your elliptical score by the way! I love tag sales and second hand stores. That's where I got all three of my barbell/weight sets, 2 full size club steps w/ 4 risers each (for $2.50!), and numerous handweights.
HTH,
Mattea

Thanks Randidiane and Mattea. It sounds like I can really tailor it to low intensity plus those leg drills I think are calling my name. }(

Mattea, congrats on your great buy! I think I'm going to find a salvation army store and see what they have. They're might be a monster in the making here, lol.

Hi, Bam,

Hey, didn't I see a birthday thread for you? Happy belated birthday!

Early this year when I checked out both KPC and KM, just by the look of them I chose KM, even though I'd read on the forums how much everyone loved KPC. I got the KM and really liked it. Because I liked it so much, I decided to go for it and get KPC, too. That's when I realized why everyone really raved about KPC.

Now I rotate them both in my schedule, but like Mattea said, the blasts are a bit much for me and now I always end up skipping them. When I see KPC coming up in my rotation I feel happy, and when I see KM there's a bit of dread factor because I know I'm going to want to skip the blasts again. The leg drills at the end are really fun and challenging (in a good way) so if you already have KPC, I'd definitely so to go for it! (Of course the KM boxing section is great, too...it's just those darn blasts!)

August

P.S. Mattea - I don't know if you'll see this, but I've really got to thank you again for the date/peanut butter idea! It has completely gotten me off of my daily chocolate dessert (now it's a daily date/peanut butter). And that is near a miracle because I'm a major chocoholic!

Thanks August so much for the birthday wish! I'm planning on using my b'day money to purchase my new DVD's. I already have KPC and love it. On Kick Max, I'll probably skip the blasts as they do seem too intense for me right now. I can't wait to post here when I get all of my new DVD's! I know, patience, patience! :p

Bam

Hi August,
I don't know if you'll see this;-) but you're welcome! I feel your chocoholic pain and wanted to let you know that I just made a trip to the store where I found rootbeer extract and french vanilla extract and combined the two to make what tasted pretty much like a peanut butter rootbeer float! Have you had the time to try any of the other recipes yet?
:9
Mattea

Okay BAM, sorry to highjack your thread! And just get both KPC and KM when you can, you'll probably end up with both eventually anyway, and you won't be sorry! You can always sub in the High intensity drills from KPC for those in KM if you like!

Hiya, Bam,

We look forward to your Kick Max report! If we've succeeded to convince you that the blasts are too much - you'll probably do them and think, "What in the world were August and Mattea talking about? These are nothin!" ;)

Chef Mattea,

Peanut butter root beer float?! What a riot! You pioneer! I did try out your steel cut oats soaking in soymilk and for the first time ever I actually LIKED the steel cut oats! A miracle! :9 The only problem - the portion was TOO SMALL!! I've been following BFFM and am now in search of balanced foods with volume (LOL), but I'm going to try out some of your other recipes soon. Yum yum! If you figure out any more chocolate candy bar alternatives - I demand to know A.S.A.P! }( }( :p }( }(

I HAVE to go and buy some more dates now.
