Kick It Up--- May

The no junk food day is going quite well! I did Pure Strength Legs & Abs when I got home from work. I used heavier ankle weights b/c my old ones had a hole in them and the metal stuffing leaked out all over. I definitely felt the heavier weight in the floor work section!

Hi Stace, Kelly,

arggghh, pizza, well I guess I had better not indulge on the rest week with stuff like that & snacks, oops. Found this article on fitness personalities, maybe that makes the difference in your routine?

http://life.gaiam.com/gaiam/p/Whats-Your-Fitness-Personality.html

Maybe that's why I make rotations, like the kickbox, & avoid writing down what I eat everyday? Most of the time I think if you measure enough things, i.e. weight, length & intensity of workouts, waist, or steps you can get an idea of what works & what doesn't, or just try changing one thing, like not eating pizza on the rest week! hahahaha.

What's your personality?

Linda

Interesting article, my personality is about 75% "relishes routine" and 25% "conscious contemplative".

Finishing up my coffee then time to do STS Ch/Sh/Tri before a loooong day of work.

Hi Kelly, Stace

Hope all is well with you guys, that article Stace, also had a link to the 8 Colors of Fitness, a little quiz to show what your fitness personality is, I did it it was really accurate for me, purple, like a 9, I think.

http://www.the8colors.com/cfit.asp
the link is in the article I linked to before, try it out girls, what's your color?

Fitness fun, composting today, clutter removal, going thru clothes to give away...

see ya,
Linda

Speaking of pizza....that's what we had for dinner, so eating was so-so today.

My STS workout this morning went pretty well, I felt a bit stronger this time, and will try to increase the weight a bit next week. I did chest flys with 20 lb dumbells for the first time, and over head lying tricep extensions with 12 lb dumbells....I used to only be able to do those with 5 lbs! I may have to look into some sort of weight bench though for barbell chest presses b/c if I go up in weight a bit more I'm not going to be able to hoist it into position. Gonna have to ponder that. I dont really want to buy anymore major equipment b/c I really dont have the room...unless my husband parts with his Bowflex (that he never uses!!)

Way to go Stace, (5 lb tri ext, that's me, lol, think I'll try with the body bar first, that's 15 lb.) there are some things I think I can go up on, bench, deadlift, rows, maybe... I'll have to work it out this week before I start next...

Hey Kelly, hope you're still out there gettin' it done!

Linda

hi ladies - just did the color test - I am a gold. what a fun idea. a lot of the description did fit my personality (way too structured and detail oriented! ha).

just found it in me to complete Athletic Step - one of Cathe's new shock cardio ones. I have done it a couple times before so it is getting a little easier. a good sweat for 47 min.

I am going to start working on the Timesaver DVD...I like that it's 45 min less and each one has cardio and weights....gonna give it a try and see if I can find consistency. will report in!

hope you both are having a good friday! Kelly

Hi Stace, Kelly

I'll be doing the Timesaver Mon-Fri next week, ready to get going again , today, went to market for salad stuff, made an awesome batch of chili,(boyfirend likes!) oh and if I didn't tell you he's perpetual boyfriend like 15 years and counting or so, and he puts up with me! :p

Those questions on the test were telling, so if I start talking before I know what I'm saying , you'll know why, lol. Don't even get me started on stuff we don't use around here Stace, might use the total gym for pullups/chins , hmmm? and those froggy things?

Have a great day

Linda

Hello there, my fitness color was Blue ("tried and true"). Today was a rest day. Hubby is trying a new recipe for dinner....cajun halibut with praline sauce and dirty rice. Yum Yum and I dont have to cook or do dishes so even better!

So you two are doing Timesaver next week, you can compare notes! Tomorrow I'm going to see how much of 3 miles I can jog vs walk, and then Sunday is STS Back and Biceps.

Morning girls!

Nasty headache this morning, & carry over from last night, ughh, not dehydrated, don't no where this came from, because we don't imbibe.(maybe once in a while for special occaision, not recently though)

Hey Stace, maybe that's why the STS suits you (blue) that's funny how a simple test like that can kinda go with what you do, for me it's planning & rotations, this is my next rotation, Kelly, I used the timesaver before after a rest week & liked it a lot, next time I'll probably go directly into another monthly rotation after the rest week, it's a "wave" pattern. It's not fancy just what I want to do now, my flexibility exercises are simplified too, think I need to get back to everyday though. I think I want to be green today...

Here's a link to my next rotation if you'd like to see...

Major achievement for me......I ran 3 miles without stopping on the treadmill today!! It wasnt the fastest pace by any means but with my knee problems and me not being a runner I am in amazement!! Yay!! I hope I can walk tomorrow!!

Hi Stace, Kelly

Just have to say again Stace, great job on the run, that's still on my someday list, you're great inspiration, keep it up! How about the timesaver Kelly? did you start yet? let me know how it goes!

Today, stretching, yesterday borrowed a bunch of things from the library, some DVD's & 2 books on nutrition. I hung some plastic cat toys from the kitty jungle gym, it was fun seeing the little ones discover them for the first time, they're so funny to watch.

Linda

Today's workout was STS Back and Biceps, was able to increase my barbell weight a tad for barbell curls. I did the "weights and plates" workout from Ab Circuits and was able to get thru a few more of the plate exercises than I have in the past, they tend to tweak my wrists a bit. Thankfully, my legs/joints have recovered nicely today from yesterday's jog. It probably helped that I took Ibuprofen twice afterwards.

Off to the grocery store now for some chicken to grill for dinner, having that along with roasted tomatoes with melted goat cheese/oregano.

Tomorrow is a rest day!

Hi Stace, Kelly

Today Timesaver #1 & stretch, went up a little in weight, boy did it seem short this time (uh, not during the pushups :( ), good stretch after then mulched part of the flowerbed, looks better. Made some new goal lists & to do's for this week, there more like "ta-da's" though 'cause it's a real trick when I get it all done!

Let us know what you're up to Kelly! have a great rest day Stace!

Linda

hi Linda / Stace -

Linda - I did the first Timesaver segment on Sunday - liked it ok but was a little bored. yesterday had good intentions of exercising but because I didn't do it before work (am), it didn't happen. yuck.

I got up this am - and did 30 min to fitness - Kelly Coffey Meyer - Cardio Blast / Athletic Step....feeling better.

Tomorrow - I either plan to do one of those Timesaver ones - because I want to do both cardio and weights tomorrow, or something similar. So glad I had something positive to report today!

Have a good day. Kelly

Hello,

Timesaver #2, maybe I shoulda had a look at that step on rest week? It was embarrassing, in the past when I hit a kinda off day, step wise, I'd give a couple tries & give up if it was that bad, somehow today I just kept going, it's really not that long in the timesaver so...oh well. Still got a decent workout. Good stretch after.

I think one of my new goals will be a food log, seems like I do better some weeks than others & although I have variety, I may remember it more positvely than it actually was, especially fruits & vegetables.

No comment yet Stace?

Have a great day all, Go on! Break a sweat!

Linda

Hello. Yesterday was a rest day so not much to report there. Today I've been out running errands and havent worked out yet. I plan on trying one of Cathe's newere ones...Cardio Core Circuit. It'll be a first time for me.

Good Job on the workout Kelly! The more you do, the more it'll become a habit so dont beat yourself up too much!

Linda...a food log sounds interesting for you especially if we're going to have a "Veg Out" theme for next month!

I'll report back later with my workout. I'm still not sold on doing CCC yet today.

Alrighty, Cardio Core Circuit is completed! I did pretty good. I had to modify some of the impact and hit pause a few times, but this is definitely a no-nonsense workout that produces quite a sweat! I'll definitely incorporate this one into my rotations.

I got Insanity in the mail yesterday but havent looked it over too much yet. I got the nutrition guide which is pretty with colorful glossy pics/recipes. It contains the equation to figure out how many cals you need per day factoring in your activity level. The same formula can be found online though. I havent quite figured out how I'm going to approach Insanity. I'd like to say I'll just jump right in and do as-is but I'm fairly certain that will be too much impact for me. I still have 2 weeks of Mesocycle 2 left so I have some time to think about it.

Hubby was supposed to grill steaks tonight but they're still frozen even after supposedly thawing them in the frig overnight so we'll see. It might just be a grilled veggie night which is okay since I love grilled veggies!

Hi Stace, Kelly

Timesaver #4 today, think I'm gettin' back in the groove, great going on the workouts Kelly! I use the timesaver as transition between rotations for right now, it's great right after a rest week, might be really good after a vacation too. How about that CCC Stace, that does look like an interesting one from the that series, I'd probably go for the MMA & that one first when I get that far! Glad you liked it! Good luck with your new ones!

Maybe along with the food log I'll start tracking some exercises, the ones I modify, vs. others I can do now, things have changed quite a bit.
