Kettlebell mixed with STS?

First, I had to appologize if I post this thread in the wrong place.

I am very excited about STS dvds coming my way. I planned to start next Monday. I would like to coorporate kettlebell training with it in Cardio days. Is it going to be too much on muscles? For those Kettlebell lovers, can you give me some suggestions?

Thanks

I would use lighter weights when doing your kettlebell workouts. It will give you more cardio feel and you won't tax your muscles.

Thanks. So I just did something like swing and make it to 200 reps with 15lb? I normally did The Kettlebell Way by using 20lb for most of moves.

That should be fine. I've done 200 swings a day for the month of January and I didn't experience any muscle fatigue when doing my other workouts. Just listen to your body though and if you feel any muscle fatigue, then just take a day off from the swings.

BTW ~ I got great results from doing the 200 swings a day. My abs, shoulders and arms toned up quite a bit.

May I know if you break up your 200 swings and do during the course of the day? If you do, how many do you do each time?

Thanks

Great topic!! Thanks for asking the question!!

Jane, did you do the swings EVERY day? Did you do any other moves or just swings? I'm planning to start STS next month but I also wanted to incorporate some KB work. I like what it does for my endurance and core ;). I thought I might do swings or a couple of rounds of another move from the Kettlebell Way DVD but I wondered if it'd be too much. TIA for your help!! :)

I will also use the STS and one kettlebell workouts. I will be using a light k-bell (15#)and a cardio machine to make it into a interval workout.

I was planning on doing one KB workout a week while doing STS, but I might wait a few weeks and just do STS on its own to see how tired I might be. That's a great idea, though, to use just a lighter KB!

The actual challenge was to complete 200 swing in 10 minutes. I did them all at once but I broke them into sets of 40, 30 or 20 depending on the weight I was using. I took 30 second breaks between the sets.

Hi Miss Lee,

I did the swings every day, although I think I missed 3 days but made up the 200 swings on other days (meaning I had to do 400 swings).

I started my workout with the 200 swings and then did another workout besides that. My rest days were just doing the 200 swings! :)

HTH,

That's awesome. I read about the 200 swing challenge a couple of months ago, and while I do add them in quite often, I haven't made it to daily!

Jane, thank you so much! It helps a lot!! I think it's a great idea to start my planned workouts with KB swings and that's exactly what I intend to do. ;) :D

Ladies,

Thanks for all your feed back.

Jane,

For 200 swing, do you alternate each one or you would do something The Kettlebell Way did, such as 5, 4, 3,2,1?

I love Kettlebell because I only need a short period of time to get my endurance and heart rate up. Amazingly, everytime, I did feel my hamstring soreness. But I did not feel the abs. Will it possible that I did something wrong? Can you describe how your abs feel?

Thanks

I don't have KBW but you do mean doing alternating swings from hand to hand? If so, I did one-handed swings, hand to hand swings and regular swings.
