Have a happy Monday!!

Hi Everyone!

Deanie ~ I'm glad you had a fantastic weekend and everything went as planned. :):):)

There were no posts this weekend. I was at my parent's house all day Friday and Saturday. On Saturday I did a weight workout and yesterday I ran 6 miles.

Today I'm planning on this workout. I'm having some sinus crud this morning so I'm hoping my head will clear out by this afternoon.

8 Rounds of:
10 Burpees or Squat Thrusts
100 jump Rope
10 Pull ups
10 KB Swings

Waves hello to the rest of the crew.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Jane, I like your workout! :)

Deanie, are you suffering from what I call post-celebration depression? ;) Big high ^^^s to DS!!!

Marcy, no I am not sure that I am ready for a 3 month rotation! :p Is it possible to do ETK one month at a time?

I am doing the workout that Lauren Brooks posted on youtube last night. Here it is:

40/20, 5 rounds:
tactical lunges
3 swings/3 pushups
high pulls
squats (but she does 1L squats)
Turkish GUSU

It looks fun!

DH and I went to see Paranormal Activity last night. I really wasn't able to sleep after that, but at least I got to sleep in to sorta make up for it! :p:D

Hi Gayle and MISS YOU RHONDA! :)

Melissa

Good Afternoon!

I did the original Squeeze this morning plus the pretzel segment from the custom workout. Used 5# for shoulders, 8# for biceps, 5# for triceps and 3# for waist. Had a great workout.

Did chinups, pullups and walking over the weekend.

Deanie - Great workout and nice job on the 45# TGU! I'm glad DS had a wonderful bar mitzvah! I'm sure after all the planning, excitement and the big day, it's normal to feel let down now that it's all over. But you will have another one to plan for....

Jane - How are your parents doing? Great run yesterday!

Waves to all!

Marcy

Hello ladies!

Deanie - It sounds like you have what's akin to the "post-wedding blues". I'm glad everything went so well. GREAT job on the 45# TGU! Outstanding!! :)

Jane - Nice run yesterday! Looks like a sweet workout planned for today, I hope your sinuses clear. Have you ever tried a Neti pot for sinus issues?

Melissa - I'm really trying to talk my movie buddy into seeing Paranormal Activity, but he can't do scary stuff. Did you like it? Rotten Tomatoes gave it a good review. I like the workout you have planned. Also, really nice post in the OD (re: the Bible). ;)

Marcy - I love the name "Pretzel segment". :D

I had a great hike on Friday, went to a rainy, but fun football game on Saturday, and was in full cook and clean mode yesterday.

I'm hitting the gym tonight. No real plan yet except some moderate weight DLs.

Have a great day!

Marcy

Hey Marcy,

Mom and Dad are doing ok. I was with Dad and Friday and Saturday and he did really well. Friday morning he was a little mixed up. He got up at around 7am to go to the bathroom and then wanted to go back to bed because he thought it was night. He said I haven't gone to bed yet even though he had slept the whole night. We had to take him to the doctor for a blood test and he did really well. He was walking good and even went to the grocery store with us (he's a good cart pusher)!!

Saturday morning he took a nap and woke up looking really pale. He was clammy and said he didn't feel good. I sat there with him and within 30 minutes he had his color back and was feeling better. I got him to help me unload the dishwasher and to go outside with me to check the mail later in the day.

I read something about the stages of death and dad certainly has the symptoms ~ mottled feet (purple toes), bluish and purple lips and breathing issues. So I think he is on that path but it's a slow process. He has had the purple toes for a long while now.

Thank you for asking. We're hanging in there!

Jane - Nice run yesterday! Looks like a sweet workout planned for today, I hope your sinuses clear. Have you ever tried a Neti pot for sinus issues?

I haven't tried a Neti pot. I have sinus issues from time to time so it usually doesn't bother me but my head is a little stuffy today. This area is the "sinus" capital of the world.

Melissa... really nice post in the OD (re: the Bible). ;)
Thank you. :) I know that everyone has different beliefs and even if I don't agree I absolutely respect everyone's ability to make up their own minds and beliefs... I just hate it when someone is spreading inaccurate and out of context information about something they really don't know anything about. I know it is probably still continuing, and that's why I won't go back... some people just have their minds made up and are stubborn... you know exactly what I am talking about. ;) :p

I loved Paranormal Activity, but I wish I would have seen it during the day and I wish that I would have watched it at least 6 hours before I went to bed. Seriously, all night I kept feeling like someone was watching me. I fell asleep only because (please don't laugh at me) I tried to concentrate on me and Jesus having a picnic next to a stream with beautiful trees and white mountaintops in the distance. I am such a dork! But you would be proud of me: during the Colts game y'day I had a Killian's with my wings. Killian's is good! It is the one beer I really like so far.

Jane, HUGS, HUGS, HUGS, HUGS, HUGS AND MORE HUGS! My thoughts and prayers and with you! You are a huge blessing to your family and your dad is so incredibly lucky to have you there with him. I hope that my children are as loving as you are when I get there someday.

Can you believe that I still haven't worked out? Ugh, what's wrong with me! First day of fall break and I can't get off the computer or the phone. I will workout as soon as I get of the phone just now I promise, ;) At least I did change the sheets on my bed. Like that will help me sleep any better.

Melissa - I guess you could start out with the 1st month of ETK which is just the swings and turkish get-ups to get yourself doing the proper form and increase your reps. In the second and third months (Rite of Passage), each succeeding workout builds on the one before with more reps and more ladders (basically chins/pulls, cleans & presses and swings) and progressing in doing more and more of Providence and Newport until you work up to the full workout. So I guess you could do the first month, maybe take a two-week break and then start the Rite of Passage. If you stop in the middle of Rite of Passage, you might lose a little of your momentum and strength. I find with pullups that consistency is best and it helps doing them all the time to keep up your strength. Deanie might also have some thoughts.

Marcy

I finally did the workout and it was great! My legs are going to be ubersore tomorrow, though, I can already tell. I did my workout in the backyard in front of the sliding door so I could watch my form and my legs were jiggling during the swings so they deserve it. ;) It felt good to be back outside! (I channelled you, Jane... did you feel it?!?)

Marcy, thank you for the advice with ETK. Just one more question that could be a deciding factor: how many days a week do you do ETK? SIM was 3-4 days, and doing just 3 days a week I saw and felt results but was still able to do other workouts in between so it kept me sane. Is ETK similar? TIA! :)

Melissa

Melissa - I know the first month was 4 days a week. I think the Rite of Passage might also be 4 days a week as well. Sometimes I felt a fourth day was a bit of overkill since I didn't have enough chance to rest and sometimes you were doing snatches, clean & press, pullups day after day. It was just too much. Sometimes if he had Providence in for that week, I left out certain exercises.

Marcy

Okay, still can't figure out the picture thing and ds13 was getting really annoyed!!:mad:

Melissa:: I agree with Marcy about doing the program min. (first 4 weeks) and then taking a short break and then starting ROP. Once you start ROP, I wouldn't stop though. Also, you could tack on the prog. min. to other workouts or have them stand alone. ETK prog. min. is 4 days a week, ROP is a 3 day a week program with 2 days of variety, meaning you can do what you want - take it easy or workout. I highly recommend the program, and like I said, I am going to do it again!...but I would also get the ETK book by Pavel and really read and study it, it is a little different than the AOS workbook. AOS has you doing Providence and Newport, and the book doesn't really recommend doing a tough workout on variety days, so I wouldn't recommend doing Providence when doing ROP. Hope that all made sense:confused: Glad you got your workout in!

Jane::: (((((HUGS)))) to you and your family. Its great you all have such a strong support system!! It says a lot about your parents and what a great job they did, as parents, with how well you and your sisters care/take care of them!! I hope you feel better and good job on your run!

Gayle:::Sounds like you had a fun weekend. Enjoy your dl's

Marcy:::prezel segment sounds interesting. Glad you had a great workout. ETK by Pavel (the book) is a little diff. than the one by AOS. I agree about hte over kill thing, but looking at the book, Pavel does only 3 days of work and 2 variety days of not "heavy" work. I really like Pavel's stuff as compared with AOS. There are definite goals, and definite ways to get there. NO confusion about how to use the workouts.

have a great evening everyone!
waves to Rhonda!!
....will ask DH about pictures tonight....
