Kettle Popcorn?????

Can someone please tell me what's in this popcorn! I went to Cowton yesterday for the day and the rodeo and there was a Kettle Popcorn stand there! I asked the man what was in it and he said try some, it's low fat and a healthy treat. Hmmm I love popcorn gave it a whirl and NO WAY can this stuff be low fat! It tasted too good! It was sweet, kinda reminded me of cracker jax but not as caramelly! I said this to the guy who of course insisted it was low fat blah blah blah but hey he was there to make a sale! I understood that and I also realized that this stuff was too tasty to pass up so instead of the med or large bag I went for the small and went on my merry way! I never had this before and enjoyed the treat but am curious to what's really in the ingredients! Anyone know? TIA}(

I think the microwave kettle popcorn is even better than what they sell at the fair. I'm waiting for them to come out with a low-fat version. ummmmmm!

I also love kettle popcorn, so I did some research and found a recipe for it:

Ingredients
1/2 c. unpopped popcorn kernels
1/4 c. white sugar
1/4 c. vegetable oil

Directions
Place the popcorn and sugar in a large pot with vegetable oil. Over a mediu heat, begin to pop the popcorn. Constantly shake the pot to ensure the popcorn kernels and oil do not burn. Once the popping has slowed, remove the pot from heat. The nutritional information lists this recipe at 5 servings with 209 calories, 2.4g protein, 11.9g fat, 24.8g carbohydrates, and 2.9g fiber.
(My source was http://appetizerrecipe.com/AZ/KttlCrn.asp)
I have found that you need to be careful not to cook over too high of heat or the sugar will scorch and turn dark brown.

Not exactly healthy, but boy is it yummy!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Kettle corn is lowfat. The microwave versions are fatty and high in sugar content... But its yummy!

I think the kettle corn that you buy in the store is greasier than the kind you buy at the stands. And lowfat, I doubt it lol. .... Rhonda :7 :7

Did you guys know they have a 94% fat free kettle corn. I swear I eat a whole bag every night, crazy but true. I love this stuff! Its hard to find the 94% ff but, I buy mines at Top's and K-marts. It taste just as good as the regular. As a matter of fact, if you are following WW its' only 2 point for the whole bag.

Hi Francine,

Just to let you know that Orville Redenbacher has a 94% fat free smart pop kettle corn. It is pretty good, of course not as good as the full fat kettle corn. You can find it at your local grocery store or at Target/Walmart type stores.

I am really glad to know that there is a low fat version of Kettle pop corn!! I love kettle pop microwave popcorn and get a real craving for it especially after doing cardio and weights for some reason. I stopped eating it though because I thought it was too high in fat. I'll be looking for the low fat type next time I go grocery shopping. Thanks for the info!
