Ken Burns

I am trying to decide wether to buy his documentary "The War" for my husband. DH loves the Civil War series and I thought he would like this one. So, i'm looking for reviews from all you peeps in the know! Thanks.

Phyllis, I thought the series was wonderful. My DH has been watching the tapes we made over and over. I should probably buy him the book or the set of shows myself.

Yep, I concur with Robin. Historical accuracy coupled with personal stories make for some interesting viewing.

ITA with the other responders. DH and I have watched the aired episodes over and over again. A good friend of ours put the word out that he wanted the boxed set on DVD for Hanukkah, and got two sets - wouldn't let either of them out of his hands.

Burns is really a preeminent documentarian.

My Mom & dh absolutely LOVE "The War". My Mom even got to hear Ken Burns speak & met him in person last month! She was so excited, it was funny to see her so excited about meeting him!! And did you know he's MUCH younger than you would think??

Anyway... totally off topic, but I think he would love it!

I think he's only in his early 40's maybe?? I saw a pic my Mom had of him and he's really good looking too!! Very surprising, I just had a picture in my head that he was like 70!!
