Today I got the Stepboxing workout from Kelly Coffey-Meyer in the mail. She sent a gift (t-shirt) in the package. This was sweet. I wont have time to preview it tonight, but if anyone has already.. what did you think ?

I got mine in the mail today, also. She sent them priority mail. I thought the T shirt she sent was awesome!

I am hoping to try it out this weekend. I have four boys playing hockey, so my weekends are packed. I can hardly wait to try it.

I just finished Step-Boxing. I really, really liked it. The entire workout clocks in at right under 53 minutes but this workout moves from start to finish. When you hit start workout BAM! The warm up is fast paced...no stretching in the WU, which I like. There are four combo's. I was sweating from start to finish and my heart rate was up, but I wasn't wiped out as in say an Imax or BC. I really liked the combination of step and kickbox and I LOVED the fast pace. The music was motivating. Kelly does not cue or explain a lot and I really like that b/c I will do this workout over and over again. Some parts were a little tricky but after a couple more times will be perfected. The cardio sculpt really did have a cardio effect for me. I used 8lb. DB's and I loved the squat thrust/push ups on the step. The ab work consisted of standard crunches but again, very little to no rest in this workout and I was still sweating in the ab portion. This is a definite keeper for me!!!

Upon preview I'm less excited about NYC but we shall see how I feel after I try that one.

Thanks for the review, Angela :) I'm looking forward to trying this one as well. I previewed it and it looks like fun! I also got her Ready, Step, Go and I'm excited to see her using the step in a vertical fashion. She seems like a really fun instructor, too. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Carol, let me know what you think of Ready, Step, Go when you've tried it. I've eyed that one for a while now but haven't broken down yet. I really like the way she gets right to things. Enjoy!Angela:7

Hi,

How is her kickboxing form? I have Ready, Step, Go and like it, but she does a few kicks and some of the form seems a little off. Not much bothers me except bad form in kickboxing.

I'm not an expert on form at all. What seems to bother some people does not usually bother me b/c I'm most concerned with getting a good workout and I know enough to work on my form without the people on the screen having to be perfect. Her form looks good to me but I rarely speak of bad form unless it is just WAY off.

I finally got to preview the workout. I really like it, but the one thing that bothered me was,the 2 ladies in the back could not do the push ups with the squat thrusts.. they look like me doing boy push ups.. I can't do them!!! I have never seen ladies on an exercise video that were not in good enough shape to do push ups..until I saw step-boxing, but I like the rest of the workout..:)

IMO Step_Boxing is a great workout, Kelly is not a black belt and this is not being marketed as a Martial Arts program, it is a fun way to burn a lot calories. I did this workout morning and I love it. I normally focus on the instructor and not in background exercisers. I also focus on what is right, some people are just looking for what is wrong, either way you will find it.

NYC is fantastic also, very different, and time efficient.

I did Step Boxing this morning too. This is a really fun workout. I did it on a 6" step and thought the workout was a tad light, so next time I might try it on an 8". I think she has pretty good cuing, actually, the workout is simply very fast and Kelly speaks very quickly so sometimes I miss what she says. I like workouts that don't go over moves a million times, because they stay fresh longer. She also doesn't do a ton of Tifting, and she does 4 segments plus the warmup and the cardio/sculpt, so I didn't get tired of the segments. I caught about 90% of the moves first time through.

I really love Kelly and I have all 4 of her workouts. I haven't previewed NYC yet, but so far, she hasn't disappointed me on a single thing.

I would definitely buy more of her workouts. Very high fun factor, low dread, good solid workouts!

After previewing this workout, I really liked it. I did say this before. No, I was not looking to nit pick this video.. but those girls in the back doing half push ups were obvious. I am not complaining and when I am struggling to do my own push ups, while doing this workout, I won't even notice those girls in the background. :D :D

Did you order from her directly from a website? I've seen her videos rated good from Collage. Is she that good? How does Kelly compare to Cathe? I always somewhat timid about buying new instructors.
What is the t-shirt like? Do you like her other videos?

I found it to be on the light side. I didn't even break a sweat. I have the rest of her workouts and I am sweaty and tired at the end of them. It was fun, but when I was done, I didn't feel like I had worked out. I really like her though. I didn't try NYC yet. I love her other two she put out before these. Maybe I will use weighted gloves next time.

I've really enjoyed her "The Shape Of Things To Come". I thought that was a fun workout with good music and loud enough to hear. That is why I purchased both of these new ones. It was nice of her to include a T-shirt w/her logo. I find her to be less intense than Cathe. But I find her workouts to be fun. And I like to mix in some intense workouts w/non intense workouts. Not many instructors match up with Cathe as we all know. Kelly has a nice personality and is motivating and is not annoying. You can read her bio on fitnessorganica.com as well as on her website coffeyfit.com. I pre-ordered from her directly. She is very good at answering your emails also.

I just got mine today an previewed it. Her form is good (with some of the normal 'elbows sometimes a bit wild' and "hooks a bit big" moves that seem typical of instructors who haven't been doing kickboxoing for a long time). I'm a bit stickler for KB form, and I find hers acceptable.

I developed a girl-crush on Kelly while previewing the Stepboxing workout, LOL! I LOVE the way she puts the two together. The moves look intense and fun, without many pivoty moves. Now,, let's hope that my feet can keep up with the workout the way my brain did during previewing!

Alas, my crush cooled a bit when I previewed her weight workout: she doesn't seem to grasp well the concept that dumbells work most effectively when they work against the pull of gravity, and there are some moves that look risky for the shoulders, including a flye with elbows way below the level of the step and a strange 'arm circles into raise to the ceiling' move.

That blond had such bad form! I'm afraid she'll need to have a chiropractor adjust her neck after the workout!
