Katrina - Animal rescue donation site

Hi everyone!

I came across a link over at VF to an organization called Noah's Wish, which is devoted to animal rescue in disaster situations and which is currently mounting an animal rescue operation in the Hurricane Katrina-affected areas.

My husband and I have made a donation to the American Red Cross for the human victims, but when I found this link and investigated it, I had to make another donation for the animal victims as well.

I don't know anything more about this organization than what is on their website, so please do your own homework if you feel uncertain about its legitimacy. It looks to me to be on the up-and-up (and WWWendy over at VF apparently thought the same), but that's just MHO. I just wanted to pass along the info. Here's the link:

My family's prayers and hopes are with everyone affected by this incomprehensible disaster.

The Humane Society of the U.S. also has a place on their home page where you can go to make contributions that will be used directly for rescue efforts. They have teams already there trying to help rescue animals.

The link is www.hsus.org.

The United States Equestrian Foundation is also asking for places that can shelter horses or ponies. They currently are only accepting places in TX, FL, AL, MS, LA, GA, and AR. If any of you in those places have any acreage, perhaps you'll consider adding your name to the list. I did!

Kathy, DH and I also donated to Noah's Wish. I had heard about the organization on CNN. It just breaks my heart to imagine any animal in pain.

I have seen so many heartbreaking pictures of family pets stranded in New Orleans. I can hardly bear it. We donated to Noah's Wish.

Thanks for letting us know about the Houston Humane Society! I just made a contribution to them too - I'm sure they need all the help they can get!

Kathy,

Thank you. We donated to both Noah's Wish and the Humane Society. Sometimes the animals who are the most helpless are forgotten.
