Jessica,
In my opinion, you can work this video anywhere from intermediate to advanced level. Janis works up to several moves (ie: first doing a knee up, then a knee circling up and out, then a full crescent kick) and once you know where she's going, you can go right to the more advanced move. The first section seems a bit short on its own, and wouldn't really be a good workout as is, but combined with sections two and three, I personally get a really good workout from it. The second section is skills/target training. The way they do it on the tape is to have two people working together, one holding a target clapper, and the other doing the punches or kicks. They also show two exercisers doing the moves with no target and no partner, thus getting twice the opportunity to work on punches and kicks. It's more of a strength section. (Think of the arms drills section in Cathe's tape). The third section continues with strength, alternating punches with leg moves (squats moving into side leg raises, for example).
The cardio portion of the workout isn't the "dripping sweat, panting for breath" kind of intensity that you would find in a Tae Bo video, for example, but I like the variety. It may not be your cup of tea, though, since you seem to be looking for something more intense. (I'd hate to recommend it to you, and then have you hate it and think "Kathryn is full of #%@(! Why did she recommend this video to me!....";-))
