Kathryn-Core Foundations

Kathryn,

I received my Core Foundations dvd last night, previewed it, and did it this morning. I thought it looked very cool watching it, and I think I enjoyed it. I know some people have said that they didn't exactly know how to do the moves. I felt like I knew how, but I think I need to do it again to decide what I think. I'm curious as to how I'll feel tomorrow, physically also.

I know that I did get worked out though--my face was red afterwards, which usually only happens with intense cardio or weight work. I had seen the one legged ball roll-ins in a magazine, and was curious as to whether I could do them. I did(!), but they were tough, and I'm sure my form needs some work. Oh, and those side planks with the ball, I had to stay propped on my elbow for those (I fell off the ball when I tried to straighten my arm).

I have two questions for you. One is regarding the dvd itself. Mine said it has bonus material, but it's really just the credits, with some film from the workouts (I think maybe the other workouts). Maybe Cathe has spoiled us to much--I don't think of the credits as a bonus, and I'm sure the people who made the video don't! Is your dvd like that also?

Secondly, have you worked this into a rotation? I'm trying to figure out how I could do that.

I lied, I have another (couple) of questions. How are you doing with this now that you have had it a while? Have you tried the other workouts? Do you still have the same impression of #2?

Thanks, as always!

Bump!

Out of curiousity, what side med ball do you use? I have a 2.2 lb ball and a 6 lb ball. Since the moves are more balance and core oriented than strength, I think the 2.2 lb ball is more than sufficient (actually, I can't imagine using the 6 lb ball), but I was curious what you were doing.

Thanks!

I still do a couple of the straight-arm exercises on my elbows (and those "tic-tocs" are still tough ones for me!).

There is no bonus material on the individual discs that I know of (maybe they mean the little clips of the other workouts that play during the credits?) There is, however, a bonus workout on a separate DVD that you get if you order the whole thing. It's a compilation of all the workouts. Also, there is a 20-minute informational segment on the extra DVD (which is due out soon) that gives more instruction on core training.

I had a hard time trying to figure out where to put this in, as it isn't really cardio, and while it does work my muscles, it's not a full weight workout. I finally ended up using it on the same day as upper body (after upper body) and another time I used it a day after upper body, and it seemed to work alright.

I seem to get better each time, and feel the moves deeper and deeper in the core. Some moves I couldn't do at all at first (the tic-toc--I couldn't even get into postion first time around!), I can do "kinda"! Other moves that I modified, I'm doing better at. I'm just a big core weenie!!

I'm still sicking with my plan of using this until I feel proficient at it (I've got a ways to go!) before using the second one. But if I get bored with it, I'll move on.

I haven't had any additional experience with it to change my opinion about workout 2. Have to wait til I actually try it.

I started out using a 3# ball. The last time I did it, (the fifth time), I tried a 4.5# ball and it seemed o.k.
