Does anyone else eat Kashi's cereal for breakfast? if so how often do you eat it? and what does everyone else like for breakfast?

I love Kashi cereal. I usually eat Good Friends, but I think they may have changed it. I recently saw a new box design and the box states that it's different and the nutritional info is different.

I love the Good Friends Cinna Raisin Crunch - my favorite. I also like the Heart to Heart also.

I eat it almost every morning. I like the Heart to Heart and another one, but I can't think of the name. It's also in a white box, like the Heart to Heart. I like the varieties that have the higher fiber and protein (not all of the Kashi cereals are high in fiber).

I put cranberries on it, so I can get in a serving of fruit (and some more fiber), and then put Vanilla Silk soy milk on, instead of regular milk.

I have an unopened box of the Good Friends at home that I got in a 3-pack. I haven't tried that one in a while. I'll have to have it soon. It may appeal more to me now.

That is what I bought this time and I loved it!!! now I am going to try and stick with fruits and vegitables and water when I get the munchies! I have a bad habit of sneaking into the chocolates! grr!!!!!!

Yep-I love Kashi for breakfast. I mainly eat it for breakfast on the weekends, and sometimes for dinner during the week-adding strawberries when available.

I used to like Kashi very much- Good Friends, Good Friends CinnaRaisin Crunch, GoLean Crunch, and Cranberry Sunshine. I don't eat Kashi anymore, even though it's one of the healthiest cereals out there. My very favorite cereal is Barbara's Puffins, and I alternate that with Nature's Path Optimum Zen cereal which has more calories but is still high in fiber.

Good thread.

I eat Kashi cereal almost every morning for breakfast. On the days I don't, I eat eggs.

My two favorite cereals lately are Kashi's Autum Wheat, delicious, and Nature's Path Optimum Zen which is delicious, too! Other choices would be slow cooked oatmeal or scrambled eggs (one whole egg and one egg white).:)

My nutritionist recommends certain Kashi cereals, but not all of them. I eat Good Friends a lot, which is one of the recommended ones. If you want the list of which ones she thinks are less healthy, let me know and I'll go dig out my list. :)

I'm not surprised that your nutritionists only recommends some of them. Some have a good amount of protein and fiber, and some don't. I posted yesterday, and couldn't remember the one I like a lot. I checked this morning. It's Go Lean, although I saw someone else mentioned Go Lean Crunch, which I also like a lot.

I'd be interested in seeing the list, if it's not a lot of trouble, although I think I can guess by looking at the labels.

Thanks!

I Love the Kashi Go Lean Crunch and I mix it with Fiber one. Sometimes I eat oatmeal. The women's oatmeal. Brown sugar.. MMMM

I've been on a Kashi Heart to Heart kick lately. Love the stuff. I will eat Kashi, oatmeal or a seft boiled egg for breakfast.

Hi Nancy ! :D
I too, would love to see the "bad Kashi" list if it's not too much trouble.

Thanks,
Susan

Nancy,

Please tell me Go Lean Crunch isn't on the "bad" list! I love that one! I bet it probably is, though, since I've glanced at the amount of sugar and thought it was probably kind of high. My favorite cereal (though it is not Kashi) is Maple Pecan Crunch. I love MPC! I think Post makes it. I try not to buy it very often though since I end up eating practically the whole box at once! Ugh!

Well, please don't blame the messenger. My nutritionist wrote that for breakfast I should have the following cereals:

"Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal (not instant, quick cook, packages, one minute)
McCann's Irish Oatmeal
Kashi Go Lean (not puffed or honey or crunch)
Kashi Good Friends (not puffed or honey or crunch)
Kashi that requires cooking
Kellogg's All Bran
General Mills Fiber One"

Sorry, guys. I've never tried any of the crunch cereals because I was told not to, so I don't know what I'm missing. Are they great? Also, Heart to Heart is not mentioned. Is it a new product?

The oatmeal takes 3 minutes in the microwave, and it's my favorite breakfast.

Hope this helps.

I have 1/2 cup Fiber One and 1/2 cup of Go Lean. This fills me up with the high fiber content in both. Love the protien count in Go Lean. Other days I have eggs. My husband love the Heart to Heart, Good Friends and Go Lean Crunch!:)

Hi all. For breakfast this morning I had 1/2 Cup of 2% cottage cheese with about a cup of sliced strawberries. Boy did I enjoy that! I have not bought cottage cheese to keep Dh from eating it so we'll see how he does with it in the house again.

And thanks for posting that list of 'approved' cereals. A friend gave me two books this week...Body Rx and Atkins For Life. I have read through both of them cover to cover and am going to incorporate the ideas of eliminating white flour, sugar, rice and pasta from our diets. My Dh has dangerously high cholesterol and it's been a real struggle this past year and a half to try to get him to change his eating. He has given up chips...or so he tells me, but he's still eating alot of things he shouldn't be when he's not at home. Anyway, his cholesterol numbers have barely moved in a 12 month period of time so this is frustrating and scary at the same time. So I'm hoping by FORCING Dh to eat more veggies/fruits and fill him up on fiber, maybe we can turn this around. He has 4 months to get his act together or the doctor want's him on cholesterol lowering medication...something I don't want him to take as I'm not a fan of taking pills.

So, I go out and buy a box of Fiber One...you can imagine his reaction to eating it...him being a Wheaties/Corn Flake guy. I didn't think it was THAT bad...just different certainly but something a person could get used to and like. But I like your ideas of mixing it with another high fiber cereal and see if he will like that instead. You have to understand, Dh is not the least bit concerned about his cholesterol and he refuses to give up his meat and potatoes diet for any reason. I am going to get some of these other cereals you guys have mentioned and maybe we'll hit on one he WILL eat.

Oh, and before people start jumping on me about Atkins...I don't see what all the fuss is about?! The guy is stressing a low carb diet. I expected to see menus calling for you to eat 2 T-Bone steaks and drink a glass of whole milk to wash it down. Granted, some of the recipes in this book (and this isn't his diet book so maybe that is different) do call for heavy cream and the like...but common sense can prevail in these situation's. The Atkins diet really isn't a whole lot different from the Body Rx...both authors are stressing the need to eliminate all the processed products out and especially sugar. The Body Rx book goes into plenty of detail about all the hidden sugars in processed foods but I had to laugh when that guy says he goes to McDonalds and orders TWO chicken sandwiches and two salads (this sounds like my H!) and then he throws away the buns and tops the salads off with the cut up chicken. Now that makes perfect sense although I could never eat that much meat in one sitting but he apparantly does...and so does my H. Anyway, interesting reading both of those books and now I'm just going to incorporate their advice with the AHA guidlines for cholesterol and maybe we can get Dh heading down the right track before his next doctor appt.

Geez, sorry for the novel...all you wanted to know was what I ate for breakfast this morning!

Speaking of Kashi, you have just got to try Kashi's TLC crackers. TLC stands for Tasty Little Cracker. They are the tastiest crackers I've ever had, and they have no trans-fatty acids. Yummy!!
