Just had surgery and frustrated I can't.....

do anything. I just had a subuerathral sling and tubal. Feeling good but can't workout or lift anything for 6 wks.....ugh. The only thing I can do is walk. Anybody have any suggestions to make the time go faster....

6 weeks!! Awh, that sucks. But on the bright side, just think you'll have an extra hour per day to do whatever!

Hi, don´t know what a subuerathral sling and tubal is, but I just had surgery and am pretty much in the same boat. Decided to make the best of it. The first week I just walked a little, your body did just go through a huge invasion, so to speak. I downloaded some of the itrain outdoor and iclimb outdoor and really like them. My body is glad for a change, but I am dreading the "no weight lifting" for 6 weeks. I am really watching what I´m eating and simply doing what I can. The hardest thing is to "take it slow", good advice, FOLLOW IT :). I constantly have to remind myself about that!!

Get some audiobooks, and use the walking time to catch up on some reading that you wouldn't otherwise have time for. You'll be nourishing your mind as you rehabilitate your body. A self-improvement double whammy!

Reading
Cleaning & Organizing clutter spots in the house (like drawers with bills and stuff)
Collect old clothes for charity
Reorganize closets (without lifting heavy stuff)
Pick up a new hobby :)

Hope you feel better soon.

Do you knit or cross stitch or any of those other hobbies that keep your hands busy? I would try one of those. Also, jigsaw puzzles or playing cards. Anything that keeps your hands and your mind busy should help pass the time.

Do you have other people in your household? Can any of them play board games with you?

And, definitely keep up the walking. Walk for an hour a day. When you're given the green light to exercise again, you'll be surprised at how fast you get your strength back. I took 6 weeks off last fall and when I got back to it, I was shocked at how little DOMS I had.

Good luck on your recovery!
