Just got back

I came back from the doctor and my knee is really full of fluid, he drained some in the office and gave me a cortisone shot and now I am in so much pain that I hate to walk! so I guess I am back down for the count, he says my knees are in pretty bad shape. Right now I feel like I am 90 years old in a 37 year old body LOL.
What can I do that won't be much of a bad impact on my knees. I want to stay in shape while I heal my knees

Hi Leslie! I'm so very sorry to hear about all your knee problems. Would you be able to concentrate on just your upper body? Say do all your upper body exercises but in a seated position? Hope you feel better soon. Kathy:(

Ouchx( I'm sorry to hear that. I agree with the previous suggestion. Are you allowed to do floor exercises for your lower body like leg lifts? When I had my injury and I couldn't do high impact cardio I used Winsor Pilates Buns & Thighs to get me through and I still use that tape weekly. I don't know if that would work for you. I wish you the best on your recovery. Take care.

Hi Leslie Marie,

I hope you feel better very soon! Maybe you can go for some Pilates or Yoga- floor exercises with no stress on the knees. Good old walking is also an option. Good luck!

Gina

I am so glad to be OUT of bed today!! I was bedridden yesterday as I couldn't move my leg or bend it or even move my toes because the pain was so bad, The doctor had me in bed with ice packs under my knee and on top of my knee at same time, I feel better today but real bad squishy cracking sounds coming from the side of my knee. I can do steps as soon as my knee heals but no more trampoline, he said I shouldn't be doing that with knees like mine. I am going to get me a pilates and a yoga tape to workout with for right now. I am going to hold off on any workouts for about a week or so.

Hello Leslie,

What caused your knee to fill up with fluid? Was it from an injury? It sounded v. bad and made my knees weak just reading your post.

I have a slight pain in my knee so I would like to know how you injured yours.

Thanks

Yen

It started as an over use injury, thought I had it healed and was jumping on the trampoline. I layed down on it and let the kids use my feet as a launch and threw them in the air to bounce on trampoline. That is where I really injured them worse and caused my knee to fill with fluid. They drained it yesterday and it still feels really tight and very stiff today. I am walking though now. But now since I could only lay in one position in bed I made my scoliosis in my back and my hip hurt today! I feel like there is no winning with this body of mine, If I have one peice of advice for the youth of today is this, Take care of your body now! eat right get proper sleep and exercise and your body will be your friend. I had abused my body when I was young and now I am paying the price.

((((((( Leslie )))))))))) I haven't been keeping up with your posts on this, so forgive me if this has been asked and you answered, but have they given you some sort of a diagnosis on all this? Just curious.

You know they never gave me a real answer, just over use injury.
When I went in the other day he said my knee was full of fluid and to relieve the pressure he had to drain some fluid and it was so gross. It was a brownish orangish color.
I am going nuts here too. I was thinking of going for a small bike ride but I don't know if I should since you can hear the weird sound on the side of my knee when I walk up and down the stairs. I am grossing out my kids and my hubby LOL. And to make things worse for me my hip that was giving me trouble and had me wheel chair bound is starting to act up on me. But I am fighting it and not laying down. Just got done cleaning my house and cleaning carpets and making cookies for my hubby and kids, ok I had two or maybe three cookies LOL.

Leslie, it's time they gave you more concrete answers. Are you seeing an orthopedic doc - one who specializes in knees? "Over-use injury" is not a medical diagnosis. It's unfair for them not to give you more specific information. Ask them for one, and ask them for specific recommendations on how to exercise now, and in the future. You and your insurance company are paying these people to treat you, and you have a right to know this information.
