Just bought a Stepper

I have never done any aerobics workout other than the stair stepper at the gym. I have been wanting to try one of Cathe's aerobic tapes because you all make them sound so good. I went to K-mart and was going to get a more expensive stepper when I noticed the less expensive one comes with a Cathe tape. So I figured I'll get the less expensive stepper which is smaller (I don't have alot of room to work with) and I get a bonus with a Cathe tape too! I think the tape is called All Step. I can't wait to try it tonight!

Hi Bethmeira

You go girl :-jumpy I hope you enjoy it, its a blast but nice and tricky so you can grow into it or with it.

I thought how hard can it be. Well...it's going to take a number of times for me to figure out all those moves. I'm thinking of buying one of Cathe's older tapes that may be a little easier with coreography. I did feel really frustrated last night just standing there trying to figure out when I could jump back onto the step.

Hi Beth

What I had great difficulty was knowing which side of the step I should be on I would keep finding myself at one side and Cathe and the crew at a completely different place.

What I often do is on the day I am going to do a tape I would watch it first. I will do a new tape for about 4 weeks 3-4 times in a week and then not do it for a while say 2 weeks and then try again.

I think the easiest tape I found was Power Max which is quite old Step Heat is good a bit dancy for that is I don't have any thing older but Mega blast and the Wedding Tape get good mentions here.

Just a suggestion (if I need a complete break I do Cardio Kicks of CTX Kickbox) to get away from all those step moves.

Thanks Babs,

I was having the same problem while doing a little of the tape last night. I have Step Heat and Mega Step Blast highlighted in the catalog as possibilities. I really want a kickboxing tape though. That is my first choice. My old boss told me that his wife was taking a kickboxing class and he was having trouble rough-housing with her because she could rough-house back! So that is a strong motivator since I am so petite, I want to kick some of my boyfriend's butt! :)

I started with Billy Blanks he's a great motivator and gives good tips on form CTX Kickbox and Cardo Kicks are great but you need to have the basics and form down so that you don't injure yourself kicking or boxing.

I found Kathy Smith Aerobox rather dull and boring but that's just my opinion.

Well, I managed to get through almost all of ALL STEP (although not graceful). I kind of impovised when I couldn't keep up with the moves. All I know is my butt is soar today so I must have done something right!

Good for you :-jumpy I am so glad you did it

It took me a while I kept sort of checking in and out until I got it. I also find because of having a few of Cathe's tapes that sometimes I get the moves mixed up. But that the joy of exercising at home no one to see you mess up and my neighbours often hear me laughing at myself as I work out (I live in a small semi-detached house)so as we share a wall they can hear me as I workout.

I just wanted to add I am doing a new tape today I recently received all of Cathe's dvd and I have decided to try Maximum Intensity Cardio, as I'm doing a cardio rotation. I also have my period at the moment but I find exercising helps.

I have watched MIC twice I will let you know how I get on.

:-jumpy, :)

Please let me know how you like MIC. I was looking at the description of it yesterday and was thinking it may be a possibility. Of course, the more I think about Cathe's videos, I think I will eventually get them all.

I would have purchased the DVDs, but our DVD player is in the middle of the living room with a balcony that looks on to it and I just can't have my boyfriend gauking at me while I am working out. Now if he would just join me...

Beth,

Well I did it yesterday and managed to do the entire workout.

I hate floor aerobics because if find it hard to keeping jumping around like Cathe and the crew but I found the choregraphy was really good, I also like the fact that she starts off with low impact then builds to high impact and then step and then intensity blasts at the end. Overall I found it easier to learn than say Rhythmic steps because most of the moves have appeared in previous tapes.

Overall I would say this is going into my rotation at 1 time per week give it a go I would recommend it but keep in mind its 70 mins in length.

Its a pity about your DVD but I like them because the playback on NTSC here in the UK is better than on the VCR. You never know seeing you working out might be the movtivation your boyfriends needs.
