Jogglers Sept. 2012

I am doing my 'Hula Buns/Abs' dvd this morning. I have finally put away my laundry. Sheesh. Tomorrow will be a walk/jog/walk and some yoga.

I did buy my Magic Bullet yesterday. I figure that it will make eating raw veggies that much easier.

Tricia- So far, my kitty is just happy to see us. Take it easy, don't workout too hard or too soon. How do you like to prepare your zukes?

Jane- Congrats on your race!!

Alisha

I am taking a rest day today. I had trouble falling asleep last night which never happens. Then this morning we had a BIG storm which knocked out our internet and email at work but unfortunately there are ways for us to get email here. The lightening was pretty.

Alisha ~ I hate putting away laundry. What a pain!

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better soon. I wish I would have picked you up some peanuts. I will see if I can find some around here. They were giving away bags of stuff (I'm assuming peanut stuff) at the peanut festival but the line was too long. The first time we ran this race, I though we were running between fields of peanuts but it was cotton instead because there were big rolls of cotton on the side of the road and cotton still growing.

I went for a jog/walk this morning. I plan to do some yoga this afternoon.

I saw 'Para Norman' yesterday. It was a really cute movie. I enjoyed it a lot.:)

Tomorrow will be a rest day. My Dad and I are going to a one day training seminar about ADA compliance. He is an expert on the subject and is training me to become an ADA inspector as well.

I've been sneezing a lot and my glands are swollen, but I feel ok.

My Collage video order arrived. I got some Jillian DVDs: Ripped in 30, No More Trouble Zones, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism; and Shiva's 'Core Yoga.'

Jane-Enjoy your rest day. Laundry is a pain, it just gets in the way. bleh.

Tricia- How are you feeling?

Alisha

Hi ladies!

Alisha - I hate laundry too and it usually sits in the basket until it's been used up and needs to be washed again! lol

As to my zukes, I prefer them raw done in my spiralizer for noodles! I eat them with a raw marinara or you could make an alfredo or just eat them with a little olive oil and herbs.

Have fun with all those new workouts!

Jane - Thanks! Don't go out of your way for the peanuts! We got hit with that storm too.

Pups were up and down all night last night. Add that to my lack of sleep the night before from my head hurting so much and I'm exhausted. On the bright side, all the pain seems to be gone today and I can breathe again! I still have a little congestion and am still blowing my nose a lot, but at least I'm on the mend! If I get a good night's sleep tonight, I'm going to get to working out tomorrow, nothing too intense, maybe a Cathe Timesaver - short and sweet with a little cardio and a little weights.

My eating is out of control, but I finally got into a raw food bootcamp with Brandi of Raw Food on a Budget. 28 days of learning and raw eating. I'm so excited! It doesn't start until October 14th, but she's got me doing an early start phase beginning Friday to get in the right mindset. My eating has been out of control. I buy sweets, pig out on them and hide them in the back of the freezer. What is wrong with me?!?! I can't fit into anything with a waistband and feel like I'm resigned to wearing moo-moos! I've got to get it all under control! Whew! That's finally off my chest! I've been eating way too much junk food. Anyway, that's where I'm at.

On the downhill to the weekend! Yay! Take care you two!

Yesterday I ran 4 miles. Here is today's workout. I can't wait to do it.

5 Rounds

Bear Crawl – 50 yards
20 Sandbag Lifts (each shoulder)
20 Tire Flips
20 Bicep Curls
20 Slasher to Halos (each side)
Sled Pull length of yard

Tricia ~ I'm glad you're feeling better. When I came back from my vacation I wanted to eat all bad stuff but I finally got it back under control. Congratulations on getting into the Raw Food Bootcamp. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Alisha ~ Have fun with your new workouts and at the seminar. It's great that you have your dad to teach you.

Hi Jane!

That workout does look like fun! Hard, I'm sure, but fun! Had a bit of a relapse this morning. My head hurts a bit again AND I pinched a nerve in my right shoulder getting something off the printer! Only me, right? I think I'm going to give myself another day or two and see if this clears up more. Nights are always the worst! I went through a whole roll of toilet tissue at the office between Monday and yesterday. Got a new roll this morning. Doesn't seem to be going as fast. I hope that's a good thing!

Alisha - Hope you've been learning a lot!

TGIF!

Today is a rest day. Last night's workout was a smoker. Whew...we had 98# on the sled plus the weight of the sled. It's hurt but in a good way. On the down we pulled the sled forward on the way back we walked backwards with it so it hit every part of our legs. My shoulders are feeling it too.

Tomorrow I'm doing a race in Albany at Chehaw Park Zoo. I'm looking forward to it.

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better today.

Hi Alisha!

Jane - CHEHAW!? I remember that place! Went there lots back in the day! Have a fun time tomorrow!

Not much better today. Pain in my upper teeth from pressure on the left side only all day. Broke down and bought some decongestant. Hope that will take care of it! I so don't want to have to go to the doctor for this crud.

Not much going on for me other than I'm glad to be home for the weekend!

Hi Alisha!

My Cat went in for her dental surgery today. They had to pull 13 teeth. :(:(:( I am so sad. I love that kitty. sigh. I will get to bring her home tomorrow, they are keeping her overnight for observation. They tell me it was a genetic thing and that there was nothing that I could have done. I'm depressed about it.

I did not exercise today. I was too stressed out. I didn't really eat dinner either. I just had a green smoothie. I don't know what I will do tomorrow. I might go for a hike. I'm probably too stressed for anything with choreography. I might fall. I'm going to try to do a meditation before I go to sleep.

Tricia-I hate going to the doctor. I much prefer an otc, hot bath, and steaming my head. Your zukes sound so tasty, I like your recipe. I'm sorry that the junk food has got you by the addiction. I still think you might benefit from IOWL's 're-do' and 'pre-do'. That has really helped me cope with food. When we set aside the food, whatever is bothering us bubbles up, often we are protecting ourselves from something that we just can't deal with in the moment (either logistically or emotionally), so we put it off. By putting treats that call your name in the back of the fridge, you are saving an escape hatch for yourself. Its your 'break in case of emergency' axe. I don't know what boogey man is in there, but until you slay him, you won't be free. I hope that the raw food plan works for you.

Jane-That sled workout sounds exhausting! I would have folded and called it a night in that much heat.

Hugs everybody,

Alisha

Hi Alisha - Sorry about your kitty! :(

I'm sure some meditation will help at least a little bit! Like the vet said, when it's genetic, all you can do is your best.

Thanks for your support. I know what my problem is. I just haven't been dealing with it. Looks like I'll be calling the doc first thing Monday. I probably would have done it sooner, but our insurance plan has been changed to where we have to pay $1500 per year (single) before it covers everything. A sick visit is going to cost me, so I was avoiding it, but I think I have a nice, lovely, deep infection on the left side now. I'm in so much pain! I can't even get any flow from my neti pot on the left side! Hope all I need are antibiotics. I also hope those are cheap! Yes, I have to pay a portion of my drugs now, too. Sigh.

Taking Peanut for her blood work to check her thyroid levels today. Poor baby has to get stuck! :(

If this goes well, she won't need to have it done but once a year! yay!

Anywho, that's about all the excitement here today. Was going to go play golf, but it rained last night and the sun is just coming out. Maybe tomorrow. Stephen also has 2 exams to prep for this week's class. It would have been one, but 2 students had a grandfather die (yeah, right) and he has to create a makeup exam as well now.

Going to relax and enjoy what I can of the day with all this pain. I also slept funny trying to ease the pressure, so my neck on the left side is in pain, too. So far, no amount of massage or Advil has helped that either. I'm just getting old, falling apart . . . gotta get my act together again! I think if I were eating right and working out, this would not have happened! I'm guessing my immune system is weak and out of whack from not taking care of myself like I should.

Can you say "wake up call?"

Ta-ta!

Good News!

Kitty (aka Maria The Cat), is doing well. She is high as a kite and eating like there is no tomorrow. We have her home now. She was very happy to see us.

I did go for a hike this morning. My brother will look after Maria this afternoon/evening. I have to go to an audio club meeting and then I have a book club meeting.

I am leaning towards a Cathe workout for tomorrow. Maybe S/G. I haven't done any sliding discs in a while.

Tricia- I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well. A heating pad turned on low can help relieve some of the pressure. Hugs. I hate taking anybody to get stuck! Give Peanut a hug for me. I don't suppose that any eating right would have prevented this infection. Don't get too down on yourself.

Jane- How is your Saturday?

Alisha

Alisha - Very happy to hear Maria The Cat is well! Yay! Glad she's happy to see you and not mad at you for doing that to her. Glad you were able to enjoy a hike today. Have fun at audio club and your book club meetings!

Got a few inches cut off my long, long, scraggly hair today. (It was pretty darn scraggly since it hadn't been cut in a couple of years and I had Stephen do that with the kitchen shears! lol) Hope that makes it look better now.

I want to start writing, but haven't figured out about what yet. Certainly going to be fictional since I don't want to start out with something that requires heavy research. Have no clue where or how to begin or why. It's just an itch I have right now. We'll see how long it lasts! If it lasts long enough for me to come up with an idea, that'll be good!

Hi Jane!

Happy Monday!

Alisha ~ I'm so glad your kitty Maria is better. Please give her a big hug from me. I love cats! Have fun with your meetings today.

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better soon. When I had my bleeding sinus ear problem last year the antibotics did nothing. The only thing that worked was Sudafed and it took about 2 weeks for it to go away.

Writing...a little know fact about me is that I have written 2 books but they were never published. This was back in the 80's. There are 2 known copies...me and my mom. I asked my mom to destroy both of them but she won't do it. Still it was fun and I enjoyed it and always have an itch to start again.

My co-worker's wife has written a book. She was a criminal defense lawyer and her first book is called "Southern Justice" and is on Amazon. I read the first draft and gave her lots of feedback because I read lots of books. I haven't read the finished copy yet. It was self-published.

Give Peanut a hug for me. I love dogs too!

Saturday I did a 5K race. It was in a zoo and it was pretty good. It was nice to run by the cheetahs, monkeys, black bears and buffalos but the course was tight in spots. The 5K ended up being longer than a 5K so my first was over 4 minutes slower than last week. Since it was a pretty run.

Yesterday I ran 11 miles. Today will be a traveling leg workout with swings and other stuff tossed in plus some ab and push up work.

Have a great day!

I went for a run/walk/run this morning. I got a 516 calorie burn. It is really nice out but the sun is coming up later in the morning, so I'm not going out until 7 am because its still a little dark out there. I am going to a book club meeting tonight. I will do a workout tomorrow, I just don't know which one yet.

Maria is a bit 'meowy' now that she knows when we go in there she will get scruffed and medicated. She hates the medicine. Its just a tiny little drop on her tongue, but being forced makes her hate it. She is a very independent kitty. She doesn't like being pushed around. It rubs her the wrong way.

Jane- Your book sounds interesting. That Zoo 5k sounds like a blast. I would love to do something like that.

Tricia- Are you thinking about that 'write a novel in a month' challenge they have every year? I forget what its called. I was thinking about doing it this year because I am not working and it would be easier for me to fit it into my schedule. I hope your infection is better today.

Alisha

Evening ladies!

Jane - Chehaw is kind of small so I can imagine it getting tight! Cool that you wrote a couple of books! If you don't mind me asking, what were they about? Fiction or non-fiction? Just curious.

Alisha - Poor Maria! No kitty likes getting medicine! Nice run/walk this morning! Enjoy book club tonight! I don't think I could do that book in a month challenge! Yikes! I'd never get to sleep! lol I still need to decide on or absorb a topic to write about. I'm in no hurry.

I am finally feeling better! Besides still have some drainage at night which makes my throat a bit sore, I'm better. The pressure is all gone! Thank goodness! That was the worst! Hopefully will be back to "normal" :p by the end of the week or close enough!

I went for my first run tonight. Did 30/30 intervals for 30 minutes. Loving that GymBoss! Of course, it took me a few minutes to figure out why it was only giving me one interval. Doh! Had to switch to auto mode! It hurt to breathe as I got farther along, but that's just this gunk still in my head. Well, that in combination with my lack of conditioning, but it'll get better! Tomorrow will be an at home Cathe workout. I'm thinking of doing the Timesaver workouts between runs. That'll give me some extra cardio until my runs get longer and I can burn more calories and some weights so I can get started on building my strength back up a little bit at a time.

Hope you two have a great night! See you tomorrow!

I am taking a rest day. My legs are really sore and now my abs and upper body is feeling it too. Did lots of squats, abs and push ups yesterday. I was so proud of my sister because she did decline push ups for the first time!

Tricia ~ The books I wrote were both series romances (like Silhouette and Harlequin). That is what I was reading back then (in my 20'). I actually submitted one to be reviewed and I got some valid feedback. They did say that I did a good job of moving a variety of characters around but my grammar wasn't the best. I think I typed the whole thing on a typewriter (no computer then) so I had typos too. My character was a little edgy or dark and I don't think it was right for the genre. I would love to get back into writing someday but that was before I had a career and a home and other responsibilities. I have so many really good ideas so maybe when I am retired I could get back to writing.

When I was taking care of my dad, I did entertain the idea of writing a book about caring for someone with dementia...something that shared the more lighthearted moments instead of something dark but I should have thought of it sooner and started taking notes. I even had the title for it.

Good job on the run. Isn't the Gymboss great?

I'm glad you are feeling better. I woke up with some stuff in my throat and sinuses this morning so I popped a Sudafed and feel much better.

Alisha ~ Hope your book club meeting was fun. It is darker here in the morning as well but it is getting cooler too. It was in the low 60's this morning and it's in the 80's during the day with no humidity. It's starting to feel like fall here.

I did 'Tantric Toning' Now before you jump off the deep end and say "WOOO that must have been a fun workout!" its really just Tai Chi and Pillattes. I can't spell that this morning.

Tomorrow will be a workout. I don't know what yet. I just can't commit to any kind of schedule anymore and I just don't care. I like to exercise, but a set rotation is completely out the window.

Jane- I wish I could do a decline push up, I have a hard enough time with regular ones. It is most definitely feeling like fall, its only in the 90s:p

Tricia- Great job on your run!!!

Alisha

Evening ladies!

Jane - I'm not surprised your legs are sore! Yowza! A rest day was a good idea! Interesting choice of reading and writing topic! I read gothic novels back then, but never the straight romance novels. A book about caring for a loved one would have been a great idea!

Alisha - Well, okay, it sounds interesting! lol Hm, I can't imagine those two modes of exercise together. I used to be able to do decline pushups! Now, I can't even do shoulder work with more than a 5 lb. dumbbell. It's depressing. Unfortunately, instead of having the effect of inspiring me to push harder and get better, it's depressing me, but I'm still going at it.

The weather was too iffy today to run. I could have gotten caught out in a thunderstorm, so I came home and after trying to not work out, I forced myself into my workout clothes and did Cathe's Timesaver #4 Kickbox & Shoulders. I was not happy when I started, but after about 10 minutes, Cathe had me smiling and laughing, not a lot, but she made me feel better. Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty and around 68 degrees, so I will make up my run. Friday through the weekend is rain, so I will push myself to do Cathe stuff indoors.

I have GOT to keep moving! Everything is suffering from being out of shape!

Yes, now that I have figured out how to keep my GymBoss going (lol - auto mode helps a lot), I am loving it!

Well, I'm going to get some reading done, then I have an online seminar on raw foods at 9 p.m.

Have a great night you two! Chat at you tomorrow!

I am doing my belly dance tape today. I will do something tomorrow, I will know when I get there.

Tricia- I find that the first 10 minutes are the hardest in a workout. Once I get into it, I often ask myself, "Why didn't I want to do this?" and I can't remember.:p why I didn't want to start.

Good Afternoon!

Alisha ~ It's ok that you can't commit to a workout rotation. As long as you are working out that's all that matters. I was really surprised my sister would try to decline push ups. I made her take off her glasses though. :p

Tricia ~ You need to push through your workouts and you'll be back in tip top form in no time. You know the Gymboss can really help you get your mojo back and will give you a great 20-30 minute workout. You can write out a bunch of exercises and throw them in a hat. Pull out 3-5 exercises and then set your Gymboss for 40/20 and hit them for 4 or 5 rounds or do Tabata with the exercises. There is so much you can do in 20-30 minutes.
