Jogglers Sept. 2012

I am such a goober. What a ridicul-bear. I can't believe I forgot to make a new thread until the 5th of the month.

Ok. .

Well.

I went for a hike/jog this morning in Folsom on one of the nice trails. I saw lots of quail, dogs, and people with strollers. I think tomorrow might be a rest day. Maybe not. We shall see. I plan to do some yoga this afternoon while dinner is cooking. I got us a really nice piece of pork and I plan to put it in the pressure cooker with some carrots, celery, and red potatoes. I love a red potato with some salt/pepper. Yum.

Catch ya later!

Alisha

Alisha ~ What time is dinner? It's sounds delicious! Red potatoes are my favorite.

Your morning hike sounds lovely. September already? Time just keeps flying by.

I am going for a 4 mile run tonight after work if it isn't raining.

Hi Tricia.

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Don't worry about it! I hadn't thought about the month change either! It's all just going by too fast! (Not fast enough to get Stephen through school though!) Of course, now I've forgotten all I read on the August thread before coming here! lol

Was ready to workout tonight, but ended up with an awful headache that throbbed worse when I move! I think it's the humidity and rain. I'd been feeling fine for a long time. We had a torrential rainstorm today all day long. It was the leftovers of Isaac visiting us. Glad it's finished! The roads were terribly flooded at lunch time, but I made it home and back to work. Ended up going to Panera right after work and picking up a half avocado BLT and veggie soup. I came home, put the dogs out, changed clothes, took Advil and ate dinner.

Jane - Going back to work after vacation stinks. It's hard not to be depressed to be back in the office!

Oh! I remember something! Alisha - Yes, networking is very much important to finding work. Often, it makes a bigger difference than anything else! I hope you find something good soon!

Okay, I'm going to go relax and read a bit and try to get rid of this headache!

We may or may not play golf tomorrow. It's starting to get dark earlier and, even if it's not too dark, it may still be too wet after all this rain yesterday and today. Well, there's still the weekends for golf!

Have a great night ladies! Catch up tomorrow!

I managed to get my run in yesterday. It stopped raining but it was humid.

Tricia ~ I hope you are feeling better today. I usually get sinus headaches from the weather. It's been so rainy and humid here but I think next week we will be in the 60's in the morning. I can't wait for that.

Hi Alisha.

Today was a rest day. Tomorrow may be a rest day as well. I'm feeling a bit blah. I will be back at it come Saturday.

Jane- That looks like a great workout.

Tricia- How was your run? Thanks, I hope I find something soon too. I keep trying to program myself to be more focused during my meditations, and its just not working. My brain is on walk-a-bout, like they say in Australia.

Alisha

I am taking a yoga day. I will workout tomorrow. I don't know what else I will be doing next week yet. I am just a tad bit sore.

Alisha

Alisha ~ Enjoy your yoga day! Hope you're feeling better and less blah!

Hi Tricia

Hi ladies! Forgot to check in yesterday! Surprise, surprise! lol

Alisha - I didn't run yesterday, but we didn't play golf either. Guess we're done for the season. It's getting dark around 7-7:30 and we need at least an hour and a half to play. That's okay, I still have the weekends to play with Stephen! Woo-Hoo!

Sorry you're feeling icky. Hope you're better soon!

Jane - Headache gone! With the rain cleared out, I feel so much better! Hoping to get some working out started this weekend. I've committed to a fit group with some Beachbody friends of mine that will hopefully give me the push I need! We shall see! I'll keep you two posted!

I love your workouts! I know where to find them when I get ready to pull out my KB again! Maybe I'll put 2 8 kg. bells on my birthday list this year.

Alisha - I think my whole self went on walk-about and got lost for a year!

Enjoy your weekend ladies!

I did 45 minutes of Yoga Today with Sarah Kline. That is a very advanced yoga workout. I will do a workout tomorrow, I just don't know what yet.

Tricia- I am starting to feel better, thanks.

Jane- That looks like a great workout. That reminds me, its time to buy a heavier KB.

Alisha

Ouch! That must have been some yoga workout Alisha!
I did Athletic Step yesterday. Goofing off today. We didn't go play golf. Stephen's had a cold. I'm supposed to start working out with a 90-day group of friends. We shall see how that works out!

Not much else going on. Finished one book yesterday and picked up on Nefertiti last night. This book is fast-paced and I'll probably be done before the week is out. It's historical fiction, which I like.

Going to try again to get my running up starting week after this one. It's starting to cool off, but the temps are still up and down. Going to give it one more week.

Jane - Hope you're having a nice weekend!

Happy Monday!

Saturday was a rest day. I went to Mom's for most of the day.

Sunday - 11 mile run. Went better than last week. It was cooler and a little breezy. Then I hung around the house for the rest of the day.

Tonight will be a leg workout - most likely 300+ squats, some deadlifts and calf raises.

Alisha ~ That must have been some yoga workout!! Hope your legs feel better today.

Tricia ~ Hope the workout with friends goes well. Sorry your missed your golf game on Sunday.

I'm taking a Yoga Relax day. I am finally recovered, mostly, and I need to put away a mountain of laundry before I can find my floor to workout.

Tuesday, we had a neighborhood meeting with the Equestrian Center owner. He answered questions. He was slick, and a liar. I exchanged emails with another land owner and we are doing our best to see to it that our homes are not badly impacted by the noise, the traffic, and the light pollution. Sigh, I don't have the money to move (being between jobs.) Many of the neighbors are up in arms. I am hoping that they will be able to help. We have gotten the services of an attorney and a sound expert.

My Uncle Wink has been put in hospice care. He has congestive heart failure. I am hoping to see him this weekend. We will be driving up probably on Friday. Its about 300 miles north of here. I am sad to see him be ill, he was always nice to us. He is actually my Father's uncle on my Dad's mother's side.

I am so stressed out. My brother is stressed, he is in bed, depressed, hardly able to eat. He can't work because of his sleep disorder. I know that he feels badly about that. I can't work because I can't find work, not because I wouldn't or can't. My Dad has just a couple more weeks of work with his current employer. It was always going to be a short term employment.

I am doing lots of meditations to help keep myself sane. I am reading sci-fi/fantasy books. I am also taking a course in speed reading. I just bought myself a copy of Win7 and VMware, I loaded it onto a separate hard drive (won't infect my OS Leopard drives). I am now able to learn Win/Microsoft software, without having to learn it on the Mac version first. I love my Mac, but I need to be employable. My plan is to get my reading up to speed, take the LSAT, use my Microsoft skills to get a job, use the job to pay for law school, and well, get enough money to get myself and my brother out of here. We love it here, but we won't love it after the new place goes in. They plan to have weddings two times a day, less than a mile from our house.

Hi Chicklets,

I took a rest day yesterday. Today I am going for a 4 mile run. The weather has been a little cooler - in the 80's instead of the 90's.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry to hear about everything that has been going on with your home and family. {{{Hugs}}}. I'm sorry to hear about your Uncle Wink. I hope you will get to see him this weekend.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother too. I hope you all will be able to find jobs too. Is there any temp work available that you could do? You seem like you have great skills. I hope you all find something soon. Continue to do what you are doing and stay positive. You never know what is around the bend.

Evening ladies! Sorry I've missed a couple. Mostly just too lazy to walk into the other room to use the computer!

Alisha - I hate that this is happening to you! Was there not a meeting for abutters with the Town/City before all this was approved? Here, you have to get all kinds of approvals from the City and you have to notify all the neighbors before you can do anything, especially if it is non-conforming to local ordinances and regulations. I hope the attorney and your expert can help! I'd hate to see you, all of you, lose your beautiful area!

Sorry about your uncle. CHF is very bad stuff and there's no cure other than a transplant. Sending healing and strength to your uncle, your brother for his issues, you and your family.

Jane - Glad you had a better run this weekend! It's been great up here too! Cooler and no humidity! Yay! Ooh! A friend of mine is sending me some fresh GA peanuts! I can't wait! Do you know you can't find raw peanuts up here? It's silly!

Well, this week's workouts started slow. I didn't do Monday. Ended up at the office a bit late and ready to kill someone (ahem, one of the attorneys). He forced a closing and messed everything up, as usual when you push something that isn't ready, and kept myself and another girl to late because of it. Did a tabata and some KB swings yesterday just to get something in. Tonight is a bust. I can't believe, but I'm starting to get the itch for Insanity again. Stupid and crazy, but I feel it might push me into improving a bit faster even with all the rest breaks I know I'll have to take. Figured I'd mix it in with my running training, so I'll have a good calorie burner and high intensity workout, then a low cal burner and so-so intensity run until I can get myself back up to 1-3 straight miles without walking breaks. I'll keep you posted on how that goes!

Have a good night you two! Stephen is staying over at a co-student's place tonight after classes so I won't see him until tomorrow night.

Our Dr. Who sonic screwdriver (remote control) came today! He'll hate he missed it! We thought it was on back order! Can't wait to use it!

Take care!

At lunch today I went to my boss's wife book signing at a local store. I already have a copy of the book and actually read the first draft. It was self published. I ended up buying some handcream and another book to donate to the library where I live. The store was more of gift shop but they had lots of different stuff - books, jewelry, lotions and clothes. She had a good turnout.

Tricia ~ Good job on getting those workouts in. Tabata and kettlebell swings are a great workout. I love Insanity. My sister and I want to do it outside one day on using my portable DVD player but we haven't done it yet. Even if you can last at least 20-30 or so, it would be a good start.

I'm glad you are getting some GA peanuts. We are going to the Plains Peanut Festival 5K on Saturday. Mr. Peanut is always walking around. It's a cute little town and if you win an award President Carter hands you the award. Unfortunately it usually a larger race and I haven't placed in my age group yet. I think last year, the top 3 runs ran it in 27 and 28 minutes. By the time I could place in my age group he will probably be long gone.

Alisha ~ Thinking of your and sending you lots of hugs!

Hi Jane!

Congrats on your race today! Saw the pic and your post in S&L! I've been sick since Thursday. Started with a horrific sore throat that had me wondering if I had Strep it was so bad! No sleep because it hurt so much to swallow all night. Fever yesterday, but like a fool, I went to work anyway, but ended up coming home at lunch and laying down. Felt better after that and some Advil. Using the neti pot and was feel better this morning with a reduced sore throat. Losing some of that energy and better feeling about now. Hoping to be over this enough by Monday. It's going to be low 70s next week and I want to work on my running!

Alisha - Hope things are better and you're having a good Saturday!

I'm sorry I've been MIA. My Uncle Wink died on Thursday, we had a phone call that day saying that he was fading fast. We piled into the car (all 4 of us) and headed north, but he passed before we got there. We spent all weekend with the family in Arcata, CA. Its been a long, exhausting, and sad weekend. He was quite elderly, had congestive heart failure, and leaves 5 grown children, lots of grand kids (my generation, I'm a great grand-neice). He was beloved by all.

Anywhooo, I did get a joggle in on Saturday. It was nice and foggy, and drizzly, and a classic Eureka coastal town morning. I got over 500 calories burned. I took my yoga matt but didn't get around to using it. Instead, we went to the beach and in the morning I took lots of great shots at the 'Sequoia Zoo Garden'. which is hosted by the 'Staff Cat', who is a great big tabby with his own bib that says "Staff". He is so cute and friendly.

I don't know what tomorrow will bring. I will drive my Mom to work and then hustle home to pick up the cat from the kennel. She has never been in a kennel before. I do know these people and the vet where she was boarded. She is a sweet cat and easy to care for, so I'm sure that they had no trouble. I just feel awful, because she looked at me like "Where are you going? Have I been a bad cat? Are you giving me away???":(:(:(

Anyway. So, I don't know what exercise I will get this week. I have no idea. We aren't going back up north for the services. They really don't need us for that. The family is a large one.

My Aunt Peggy gave me 20 dollars in coupons and a 50 dollar bill to buy a 'Magic Bullet' at Kohl's. She has been having a lot of success with it and has lost a lot of weight. So, I'm going to give it a try. I need to watch my diet, getting exercise seems to be the easy part, getting enough yoga, vegetables, and relaxation is the tricky part.

Tricia-I hope that you are feeling much better. Don't go to work when you have a fever, you are contagious and whats more, sick as a dog. Stay home and take care of yourself.

Jane- Great job on your race!!!

Happy Monday!

My weekend was busy. The race was great...won 1st place in my age group, set a PR for the course and accepted my award from President Carter. I love this race for a variety of different reasons but basically because it just has a nice home town feel to it.

Yesterday I ran 11 miles.

Tonight I will be doing the following workout:

Thrusters - 15, 5, 20, 10
Weighted Walking Lunges - 20, 15, 10, 5 (each leg)
Weighted Squats - 5, 10, 15, 20
Weighted Step ups - 10, 20, 15, 10
Then - 3 Rounds
20 Weighted Deadlifts
20 Calf Raises

Alisha ~ I'm so sorry to hear about your Uncle Wink and that you didn't make it on time. It sounds like he was a wonderful guy and that he had a nice long life and lots of people that loved him. I hope your kitty isn't mad at your for long. That's great about your Aunt Peggy and the magic bullet. I always could eat more veggies.

Tricia ~ I hope you're feeling better today.

Alisha - I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle! He sounds like an amazing man! Your poor kitty! Simon just gets UTIs if we leave him without anyone to interact with. The last few times we went away, I had someone come check on him once or twice just to talk to him and make sure he had enough water and food. He did okay. He's a very social kitty. Hope your kitty managed without you okay and doesn't take vengence!

I hope you love your Magic Bullet! I never had one, but I've heard a lot of people really like them!

Jane - Great race and a great workout! I'm jealous you got to meet Prez Carter! A friend of mine sent me some raw peanuts fresh off the farm, but they seem to have gotten wet in transit and aren't useable. :( I can't find any up here that aren't in a Planters container! lol

Well, I took my running stuff with me to the office, but was feeling badly by the end of the day, so opted not to workout. I think I'm going to have to give myself at least a few more days. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and Wednesday anywho.

Going to feed the babies, turn on reruns of Big Bang Theory at 7:00 and crash for the night. Take care of some laundry and that's going to be it for me. I already took out the trash and watered the garden. Hey! I found a big zucchini when I was watering! Surprise! That's the first zuke and I saw 3 more hanging off! Woo-Hoo! Didn't think the zukes made it!

Okay, I'm being looked at like I'm going to be dinner if I don't get up and dole out the food. See you two tomorrow!
