Jogglers Sept. 2011

Tricia- Did you do your leg workout?

Jane- ??<chirp chirp chirp>

I went for a long hike this morning. Tomorrow will be LM.

Alisha

Change of plans

I did Jillian Michaels 30 day shred this morning, workout 1. Surprisingly effective at making a sweat. Its more athletic than dancey. Overall I had some fun. I don't know why her outfit was so ugly though.

Catch you girls later!

Alisha

I'm sorry I've been MIA lately. I haven't really worked out since Monday and that wasn't much of a workout because I felt that I couldn't really push myself as hard as I like. I took both Tuesday and Wednesday as rest days. I am going to try to do something today but it will most likely be indoors unless it stops raining.

I had to go to the doctor today because I had bleeding in my ear. It could have been related to my sinuses but they think I scratched myself but who knows. One guy told me that you can get them from swimmers ear but I haven't been swimming in 3 weeks. So I'm on an antibotic and steriods to reduced the swelling from my sinuses.

Seriously I think all this ear bleeding was from the fact that we didn't get paid yesterday like we were supposed to because financially we couldn't make payroll. They did not tell us until 11:00 yesterday but they knew about it on Monday. I actually knew about it on Monday because I talk to the corporate accounting all the time. I was so pissed off yesterday...not necessarily about the money but because no one was told and them my boss sends around an email that it was a glitch. Why do they have to lie when the truth came out a hour later? The VP and Directors did not get paid at all and won't until we have money. We get no directives from the corporate office to cut expenses. We have cut them here but then 2 guys got new cell phones (that weren't needed) and it costs us $500. It drives me NUTS!!!!

Anyway...I'm glad to see that you guys are still working out. I have a race on Saturday. Do you think the steriods will help??

Alisha - YES! I got legs done! I had myself talked out of it by the end of the day, but when I went up to change I told myself just 20 minutes and ended up doing just about the whole thing. Gave up with 8 minutes of floor work to go. I have 30 Day Shred! Did it once. I have way too many workouts to do any of them too often and get bored! lol

Jane - I hope your ears are better before your race! lol I don't think these are the kind of steroids that will help you run faster/longer! lol It would be nice though just once! On the other hand, I was doing a stage production one time and I got sick with a bad sinus infection. Called my doc and by the time I got in and got a prescription for steroids, antibiotics, etc, it was late afternoon. I ended up taking my 3 doses for Day 1 pretty close together and I was bouncing off the walls by curtain! lol I was able to sing and was pretty revved up! lol

Sorry about the troubles at work! Sending you positive energy! Hope things get worked out.

Today was a scheduled stretch/yoga day. I was going to switch things around, but changed my mind. I'm still on schedule!

Jane- You could try some colloidal silver drops in the ears, that is supposed to work on topical infections rather well. I do think the steroids will help but it depends on how you feel on race day whether or not you have a good time. I'm sorry your office is being run by dumb people.

Tricia-I love yoga days!

I went for a very long walk/jog. I plan on getting a nice yoga session this afternoon. Two days ago I made my first batch of home made quinoa, it is so delicious! I made it with chicken broth, celery, apple sauce, and organic butter. Yummy!!! This morning I added some dried cranberries and black pepper.

Tomorrow will be a Cathe workout, I don't know which one yet.

Hi Alisha! Your quinoa sounds delicious! I did housework max in anticipation of my friend coming to visit! Unfortunately, because of the weather, all the flights got delayed and messed up to the point they were asking people to give up their seats, so she wasn't able to get a standby flight up. We were both really bummed out. On the bright side, my house is clean! lol

We're going to try again for another weekend. I love when she visits! She's the only one who ever comes to see us!

Will pick up with my regularly scheduled workout program tomorrow.

Hi Jane! How was your race today?

Rest day

I was going to workout. I might do some yoga later today. I'm waaay sore and my Mom has a flu bug, she is resting now but was up for several hours being very ill. Its only going to be in the upper 80s today. Its been around 100 all week which is a weird combination with the sun not coming up until after 7 am. I'm going to get some rest this morning. After that I probably will watch some lynda.com videos about filemaker. I'm thinking I need to get the upgrade for my computer and my brain;):p

Tricia-That sucks, I hope that your friend gets to come for a visit soon.

Jane- Were you able to race?

Happy Sunday!

I did race yesterday. It did do that great...I was sluggish and tired and the steroids did not help. They only make me chatty. It was a fun race in Plains, GA - home of Jimmy Carter. I saw Mr. Peanut. It was a tad humid.

In the afternoon I took my friend's dog for a walk. We ran a little as well. She was so enchanted with everything and was sweet and well behaved.

This morning I ran 11 miles and felt really good!!! I might take the dog for another walk this afternoon - just not sure I can get it all in today.

I told my boss that they way they handled the no paycheck thing showed a lack of integrity, judgment and was disrespectful to the employees. I was on steroids but I let loose on them but in a professional way. They are totally dumb. I could go on and on but I don't want to get in a rant.

Hope you guys are well. I'm heading off to my moms.

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies!

Hope your Sunday has been nice.

Alisha - Sorry your mom's been so sick! Hope she's better soon!

Jane - Sometimes it's good to just get it off your chest. I wouldn't be so eloquent, so I keep my mouth shut. Hope things get better or you find something more stable and with a more professional managerial structure!

I did do Fit Club last night, but that's been about it for exercise this weekend. Back on the hard road tomorrow!

Nothing too exciting going on. Have a great night! Tomorrow it all starts over again.

I'm taking a shiva rae yoga day. I will go for a joggle tomorrow at the park.

Tricia- Mom is feeling better but she is taking today off to recover. I think the reason you don't really want to work out is that you think of it as a hard road now, maybe its time to just think of it as play time, its recess and you can play however you like. Do you want to jump rope or kick box? Do you want to do a dancy video like belly dancing or hula? How about some ballet with hip hop music? I don't want you to end up hating your workouts.

Jane- I am glad that you are feeling better today. Steroids-a one way ticket to assertive-ville! I just took a class on how to be assertive and here you are doing it! Good job, they needed to hear it!

It's leg day today.

I think we are going for 10 rounds of 10 reps of back squats, zercher squats, thrusters and sumo squats ~ 400 reps which a 40# barbell.

My legs do not hurt at all from my 11 mile run yesterday. Usually they are achy or I have to get up slowly.

I would have said what I said even without steroids but I was thinking to myself. Tone it down because sometimes I can really let loose. I can't believe how clueless these people are. It's really scary. We did finally get paid today although the Directors and VP aren't getting paid for the last pay period until sometime between now and December.

Alisha ~ I hope mom is feeling better. Yoga is good for Mondays. I not always as assertive as I want to be or should be. Frustration makes me assertive and not doing the right thing.

Tricia ~ Hope you climb back in the wagon today. I know it's easier for me to workout on a daily basis because I have my sisters and we push each other to workout when we don't feel like it.

We didn't do the leg workout tonight. My sister's legs were too sore so we did the following instead.

4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 reps of:

Kettlebell Swings
Mountain Climbers
Double Kettlebell Upright Rows
Squat Thrusts
Weighted Sit ups
Double Kettlebell Thrusters

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Gotta love Shiva Rea! Hope you get a nice joggle in tomorrow. Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm too much in a gotta do it or else mode and I'm fighting that. I'm not working out as much as I used to, but at least I'm getting some done. I may try your way of thinking for a bit. Thanks!

Jane - Nice workout! Looks really tough!

I did not get my workout in today, but not because I didn't want to. I got started in the kitchen and was enjoying myself cooking and before I knew it, it was 6:30! I started some brown rice in the steamer and started some red beans cooking that I had soaked all day. Next, I cleaned and chiffonaded my kale and made my kale salad for the week. After that, I got some fish cubes marinating in teriyaki sauce with some ginger. Stephen got home and ran out to Bed, Bath and Beyond to use a 20% off coupon before it expired. While he was out, I fed the kiddos and sliced some red bell pepper and onion, started some olive oil heating in the skillet, then threw the veggies in with some ginger, cumin, garlic and teriyaki, added the fish and cooked that all up. We had the fish stir fry over a little brown rice for dinner. I have the kale salad and brown rice and red beans for lunches through the week. I know I should have done the lunches over the weekend, but I just totally forgot to soak my beans! lol

I'm so unorganized!

I had fun in the kitchen! At least I was moving! I should get something in tomorrow!

Happy Hump Day!

Still no workout for me. I keep running errands. Tonight, I should be able to come straight home with no side stops and get home early for a workout! Woo-hoo!

Have a great day you two!

I took a rest day on Tuesday. I took Maggie for a 30 minute walk to the park. She had fun and we ran a bit together. Tonight will be the 400 rep Leg Workout!!

It's still warm out but next week it will be cooler with lows in the 50's and highs in the 80's.

Tricia ~ I love puttering around in the kitchen. You did a good thing in getting your meals ready. Hope you have a fantastic workout tonight.

Hi Alisha!

I was MIA??

I did go for a jog/walk yesterday. Today will be a Leslie Sansone DVD because we have smoke from a fire, I can't go outside. I am spending the day on the computer studying my database stuff. Tomorrow will be Step Reebok with Gin Miller. I am really looking forward to Cathe's new series.

Jane- OMG 400 reps???

Tricia-Which workout did you do? How about only doing a workout 2 days in a row rather than planning a whole week? Just 1 cardio, 1 whole body, then a day off, rinse and repeat? Your eats sound really good.

Alisha

Hi Ladies!

Jane - Glad Maggie's having fun! Your friend is going to have to keep that up when they get back! lol 400 reps, huh? Yikes!

Alisha - Yes, for once, I was alone here! I'm usually the one who's MIA! I did High Reps Upper Body Premix! I loved it! Speedy and fun! Your idea sounds good. If I fail at this rotation, I'll do that!

Here's my new plan for October: 4 days - run. On same days, Chest, Shoulders & Tris on one day, legs the next, Back & Bis and another leg day if I'm feeling it. Gives me 3 weekday nights to relax, catch up on chores and stuff. I'll do Sat, Sun, Mon and Weds. I'll be doing weights in the mornings when Stephen has to be up early anyway. We'll see how it goes!

I have High Reps and STS Total Body on loan from a very dear friend from Ireland. I think I told you that already? My almost-50 brain. Sorry if I'm being repetitive!

I'll do lower body mix from High Reps tomorrow.

Have a great night!

My legs are screaming right now. Yes...that is 400 reps - 10 rounds of 10 reps of 4 different squats with a 40# barbell. The last 2 rounds were TOUGH!!

Here's my circuit workout for tonight:

30 secs work/30 secs rest - 4 Rounds

Squat Thrust to an upright row w/kb (in boot camp we call them barfies)
Training Rope
High Step Ups w/weight
Med Ball Toss and Run
Walkouts
H2H Swings

Alisha - Blech...hate the smoky air. It's good that you are staying inside. I've been looking at the clips of Cathe's new workout and they look good. I'm not purchasing them because I haven't done a dvd in a long time.

Tricia ~ I love High Reps!! It's a great workout and it moves really quickly. I like your new plan. It sounds doable. It's slow at work today so I putting together 2 weeks worth of workouts.

My friend who has Maggie is around but she is not used to a playful pooch. She used to have a chihuahua who was an older dog and more sedate - meaning you didn't have to take her for long walks. Maggie is 6 but has been stuck with a 90+ year old lady and never got outside except to use facilities. She didn't even know how to play. Now she is in heaven and is very curious and loves to play. Right now my friend is fostering Maggie. The 90+ year old lady is in the nursing home but I'm sure my friend could keep her however she works long hours and isn't one to get a lot of exercise. If she lived closer I would take her for walks every day after my workout. She is rather well-behaved and doesn't bark or bite.

Not much else is going on. Can't wait for the cooler weather that is just around the corner.

I didn't do a thing today. Its so smokey. And, I just didn't feel like it. I have to go out tonight for my book club mtg. and I have to pick Mom up from work. I could do something right now but my stomach is full from lunch. I don't know what I will do tomorrow, but I do know it won't be a run, this won't be cleared by then.

I would feel a lot better if it wasn't so smokey.

Jane- Good job on those workouts. Maggie sounds like a sweetie.

Tricia- Don't worry about being repetitive, we are Cathletes, we understand about high reps;):p

Alisha

The workout yesterday was tough. I was so tired but I managed to pull it out anyway. Those training (battling) ropes were tough. Wow!!! I really felt it in my chest, arms and abs and what a cardio workout!!! I need to remember to add the drills to my workouts when I have time.

Tonight is a 3-4 mile run then a walk with Maggie as a cool down.

Sunday morning it is suppose to be in the high 40's!! I don't know how I'm going to react to that. I can actually sleep in a little later as I don't have to beat the heat.

Alisha ~ How is the smoky situation today? What workout did you decide on for today?

Hi Tricia!!
