Jogglers Oct. 2012

I enjoyed RS yesterday. I got 585 calories burned. Yippee. Today I did MMA Kickbox. I will do one of the Yoga Relax premixes this evening. I will do something tomorrow. I will know when I get there.

Tricia- Thanks for the ideas, I am definitely thinking about looking further afield for work.

Jane- Thank you for the positive energy. Gah! It sounds like your boss is a real jerk. Good job on your workouts.

Alisha

TGIF!

I did Step Moves this morning before breakfast. I skipped yoga last night, too tired. I plan to get some yoga this evening before bed.

Catch ya later.

I am doing a Tabata workout tonight with some running mixed in. I haven't figured out the exercises yet but I'm thinking squats, rope slams, step ups and halos.

My boss is gone...yay! Yesterday's all-hands meeting was interesting when someone brought up expenses and how everyone has to use a spreadsheet to keep up with expenses. Everyone has an AMX card and the company pays directly to AMX but the employees never get other expenses paid...stuff like mileage and things that are paid with cash. My boss brings out his lap top and starts to show his spreadsheet and one of the Director says, "we shouldn't have to keep a spreadsheet." And my boss is talking about his spreadsheet still...and I said you're not getting paid because of cash flow and I tell him that I have had tons of job and expenses were always paid within a month. So everyone was agreeing with me. At the end of the meeting he asked who was going to the dinner tonight and everyone's hand went up except mine and he says, Jane isn't going because she thinks the company can't afford it and I looked him in the eye and said that is exactly right. Afterwards my boss came into my office and asked "Do you Hate Me?" What boss says that? So we talked about things but basically agreed to disagree. Then this morning he comes and asks if I'm still mad at him? Seriously? Be a man...we were having a discussion about money. Let it go.

Alisha ~ I'm still sending you lots of positive energy.

Hi Tricia!

Hi there chilly ladies! Brrr! It is only 32 degrees right now! Yikes! Too cold for October! Can't believe I missed writing 2 days! Feels like I was just on yesterday!

Alisha - Wow! I used to burn calories like that during workouts! Gotta wear my Garmin again during regular workouts just to gauge where I'm at. I'm almost afraid to do it lest I get addicted to the numbers again! I'll keep sending positive energy for job searches for you!

Jane - Good grief! Your boss just doesn't get it, does he? Seems like everyone else understands where you're coming from, not that they chose to side with you and skip the dinner! He needs to just get a clue, grow up and accept that you are more fiscally responsible than he is! Sheesh! I'm glad he's gone so you can just get back to work now! Sending you positive energy too!

I did Cardio Kicks Thursday night and took a break last night. I will be back on today with PUB. I ordered Rev Abs from Beachbody yesterday. It's on sale for $29! Couldn't pass it up! The regular price is $89 and I hate core and tend to skip it at the end of workouts if I have to put in another disc or select another download, so maybe this will be good!

It is way too cold! I hate it! Waaahhhh! :(

LOL! I'm never happy! Too cold, too hot . . . oh well, it's Fall and Winter is coming. I just hate being cold indoors. Trying not to turn on the heat before November 1st. It's supposed to get back up to 68 on Monday, but cloudy and rainy so I don't know if it will warm up the house any. Hope so! We shall see!

Have a great Saturday you two! d

Today is a Yoga day. I was up with a lot of GI discomfort so I wasn't ready for a cardio. Tomorrow will be a Cathe workout. I need to make sure my workout clothes are washed.

Tricia- I will send some of this warm weather your direction, its in the high 80s this week.

Jane- Way to tell your boss!!

Alisha

Alisha - Sorry about the GI problems! Hope you're feeling better soon! We hit 67 today! Yay! 72 tomorrow, then back to more reasonable fall temps in the mid-60s. Whew!

Watched the Space Jump today. 2 hours of waiting and anticipating watching the capsule climb hoping nothing went wrong, then 30 minutes to 45 minutes of going through the egress checklist - that was unnerving! I think I held my breath through some of it! When he opened the door, the small view I got was magnificent! Can't wait to see from his suit cameras what it all looked like! Then, he jumped! The video of him spinning down in freefall was frightening! He finally got control, broke the sound barrier and cam down for a soft foot landing! It was amazing!

People are calling it a stunt, but this jump means a lot more than that! This means astronauts in trouble have a way to get out and potentially live! That's worth the money, publicity and everything else this jump looked like, Felix Baumgarten is a hero and just amazing in my book! With all that, I did not do a workout! Still had laundry and stuff to do, wine making, too! Never made it to the grocery either! Oh, well, it was worth it!

Hi Jane!

See you tomorrow!

Happy Sunday!

I ran 12 miles today. Yesterday was a rest day. It was around 60 this morning but there still was 94% humidity. We are in the 80's for another couple of days and then we will be in the 70's.

Tricia ~ I didn't know about the space jump until today. I was at mom's cutting up veggies for her stew when my sister called and told us about it. So we turned it on just in time. It was so amazing. I would never have the guts to do that.

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better.

I am off work tomorrow as we have to take mom to her oncologist appt. in Gainesville, FL. So it will be a day of driving back and forth and sitting in the car. I'll definitely get a workout in afterwards though.

Today is MMA Fusion. I woke up early, but I had to drive my Mom to her carpool, so I haven't done my workout yet.

Jane- Good job on your run. I hope that your Mom's appointment goes well.

Tricia- I missed the space jump.

Alisha

Hello!

Hope you had a lovely Monday!

Jane - Glad you caught part of it! Glad you had a nice run! Hope your trip was uneventful today and your mom's appointment went well!

Alisha - Hope you managed to get your workout in today! I didn't.

Missed 2 days now. Yesterday because of sitting in front of the tv fascinated by all the science and information watching the ascent, then the jump. By the end, I was exhausted! I can only imagine how he must have felt! Today, I went to the grocery after work, then read a little, washed dishes, fed the pets and now, I'm waiting on a call, then I'll eat my seaweed salad and watch a little tv. I'll get back on track tomorrow.

I have to get moving again! My Rev Abs program shipped today and should arrive on my birthday next Monday. Can't believe it's supposed to take that long! Oh, well. I'll work it into my rotation when it gets here. I've been doing well with keeping my weekday breakfasts all raw and most of my lunches. I'll keep increasing a little at a time, meal by meal. Once my weekdays are all raw, then I'll start working on the hardest part, the weekends! Yikes!

Have a great night! See you tomorrow!

I am going to do the 31 min. premix for LIC and then Patrick Goudeau's 'Aerobic Dance Workout'. I got on Netflix. Its supposed to be a mix of 'ballet, Latin, and jazz'.

Tricia- Do you find that being all raw is more doable than just doing it during the week? 7 of 7 days seems like a lot.

Jane- Did you get a workout in today?

Alisha

Hi!

I managed to get a workout in yesterday. We left at 6:30am and got home at 2pm. I managed to make some lunch stuff for the rest of the week and also to wash my car. We did 2 rounds of a card workout. It was fun! Today will be a rest day.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you will get a workout in today. It sounds like fun!

Tricia ~ Good for you in going raw. It would be really hard for me.

I did MMA Kick box this morning before breakfast. I will do something tomorrow but I know it won't be a hike or a run. There was a sheep killed by a mountain lion about 1/2 mile from my house on Saturday. :( It was just a pet, kept for wool, we don't eat the sheep here. I'm so sad about it :( He didn't belong to me, but I would see him all the time. So, in consideration of that, the cat is staying indoors, I am doing Cathes all the time, and until the cat has been gone for a couple of weeks, I'm not going outside for a long run. I'm short, slow, and soft, I definitely qualify as tender vittles.

In other news: My Dad and I are going south to Long Beach this weekend for a business trip. We are also looking into getting an apt. in Monterey Park, CA because it looks like my Dad has a job starting on Nov. 5th.

I had a couple of home cooked muffins this morning and my stomach is hating me right now. I guess I can't do sugar anymore, even home made. I feel like crud. I did feel good during my workout, so I know it was the food.

Jane- Good job on your workout!

Tricia- I'm doing better with the raw smoothies these days, they cause me less tummy trouble. You may convert me yet.:p

Alisha

I am going for a 4 mile run tonight. The weather has been nice.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry to hear about the sheep. That is so sad. You are doing the right thing by staying indoors.

Congratulations to your dad!! How exciting. I am so happy for all of you.

Hi Tricia!

Hi ladies!

Stephen was home early last night and I didn't get on to check in.

Alisha - That is sad about the sheep, but we, as humans and our pets, are invading their territory. It would be tough to relocate the cat, but I wonder if the wildlife people could try to trap and relocate? Smart to keep working out indoors!

Right now, I'm doing breakfast and lunch raw mostly and during the week. I plan on making the transition slowly. Breakfast was the easiest because of the green smoothies with fruit! I have no problem having that for breakfast every day! I usually do a salad of some kind for lunch - a green salad with veggies and my favorite homemade dressing or seaweed salad occasionally. Dinner is cooked right now. One step at a time!

Been working on setting my purpose in a more detailed way and writing up my story to give myself the right mindset to succeed. I will probably never be 100% raw or even 100% vegan because I love my seafood too much to give it up! At least right now!

Jane - Hope your short run was a good one! It is hard to switch, but I feel better when I eat vegan and even better raw. I'm trying to focus on that as motivation not to eat crap! Like Alisha, when I eat anything with processed sugar, my stomach just rebels!

I'm going to really focus after my birthday on increasing my raw a little bit more.

Havent' worked out in 3 days now, but will get back in it tomorrow.

This morning as I was leaving for work, my steering went wonky. It was extremely hard to turn the wheel. I called my mechanic and he said it should be okay to drive it in, just take some muscle! I got it to him and he checked everything and it was all okay. I have an electric pump though and he said it could have been the electrical. Of course, when he turned the car on and went to turn the wheel, it was fine. It had cleared up on its own. Now I'm paranoid! He's going to research the cost of replacing it for me so I have the info just in case it keeps doing that, but it was completely fine the rest of the day. Go figure. Our cars are getting old again and I'm nervous, but we can't afford to buy a new one until Stephen goes back to work now. Sheesh. Always something, right?

Well, my Rev Abs will be here Saturday. Excited to get it! Hope I'll be as excited to do it so I can get more consistent! lol I have heard lots of good reviews from people who've done it not just coaches trying to sell it. We shall see.

Have a great night! One more day of work, then 5 days off! Woo-Hoo! :D

I'm doing a workout this morning (in about an hour). Tomorrow will be a workout.

Tricia- That cat is not from around here. He does need to be relocated. I don't know what drove him down here. He only showed up about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I am suspicious that another one of those unnecessary housing developments pushed him down here. We have very large yards, the smallest one is 5 acres the largest is 200 acres. So, it would be very comfortable for him down here. Sheep and chickens are easy pickings, and I can't blame him for eating a chicken or a sheep. They are tasty and penned in, they can't run away. They have no protection. Nobody is keeping dogs that are trained to chase down a mountain lion. There are no bull mastiffs in here.

I can see why eating a raw breakfast/lunch is easy. I would find a raw dinner harder to digest. I also love seafood!!! I could give up chicken, beef, pork, eggs (except in my baked goods), but I couldn't give up the occasional broth, milk, and seafood.

The 'steering' going hard could have been steering fluid or a belt that was not working right. Most cars have power steering these days, and when it goes, steering is nearly impossible. That happened to me and was very scary.

Have fun on your 5 days off!!!

Jane- Great job on your run!

Alisha

Here is tonight's workout. It is suppose to rain so this will be a good one to do indoors.

Weighted Squats – 3 sets – 10-15 reps
Stiff Leg Deadlifts – 3 sets – 10 -15 reps
Calf Raise – 2 sets – 15-20 reps
Barbell Bench Press - 3 sets – 10-15 reps
Barbell Rows – 3 sets 10-15 reps
Shoulder Press – 2 sets – 8-12 reps
Standing Alternating Dumbbell Curl – 2 sets – 8-12 reps
Tricep Dips – 2 sets – 8 -12 reps

Tricia ~ Sorry to hear about your car. That can be scary. There are certain foods I could not give up like eggs. I love eggs! I also love seafood too. I eat lots of salmon.

I hope tomorrow goes fast for you!!

Alisha ~ Hope your enjoyed your workout today!

Hi ladies!

Alisha - I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Poor kitty got booted out of his home. I think I would invest in a lovely bull mastiff as a running buddy! Maybe they can relocate the cat. That would be nice!

Jane - That is an awesome workout! Good luck on your race tomorrow!

Well, I muscled my car all the way to my mechanic and it fixed itself. Oddly, it was difficult to steer, especially on the right angle turns, all the way there. The fluid was full, the fuse was find. It's an electric pump so he said it could be an electrical problem. I think it may have been driving over a pile of large gravel rocks in our street when I cam home the day before. They weren't huge, but maybe palm sized. Don't know where they came from but they bounced the car and made the steering jump some. When he turned the car on again, the steering was fine. It's been fine ever since. May have just been a fluke. I'll keep an eye on it. If it keeps happening, he'll have to replace the pump.

I did HIIT 40/20 last night. That was hard! Today is Kick Max and I can do it whenever I want! Yay!

Work yesterday was busy and pretty much flew by! I love those days! Slept in a bit this morning and am steeping my coffee now. Weather's not going to be great these next couple of days - rain - but I'll enjoy them just the same!

Zombies, Run! came out with a 5k training app! Bound to be more fun and interesting than the typical ones out there that just tell you to RUN . . . WALK . . . to the beat of the same music you listen to every single day. I'm going to get it and give it a go! Their other app is really fun! This one should be as well!

Have a great Friday ladies!

I have an ear infection. I am going to the doctor this morning. I suspect I will get the dreaded antibiotics. I am hoping for a topical treatment. I won't be exercising this morning. I may do some yoga until my ear is getting better. I am watching my diet like a hawk, only healthy carbs, good fats, and plenty of good coconut oil. I have put on a couple of pounds, but I think that its just water from driving for two days. My ankles are swollen.

I really enjoyed the trip to Long Beach. We rented a prius and drove down. We also scoped out Monterey Park, CA. Its really nice there. My Dad definitely has a job down there. I don't have one yet. He wants me to come with him so that he won't be lonely. He hates being lonely.:p Initially, my brother will go with him to get his IT stuff set up. Then, we will switch, and my brother will come home and I will go down.

The only thing is: I don't have a car that can drive down there. My T-bird wouldn't survive the drive (according to the mechanic who told me not to drive to far from home.) However, my Dad and I could share a car. He is probably going to buy a Prius. He likes the gas mileage.

Well: I have to buy a new phone. Thats just a necessity. It tried to kill my ears. It just randomly went into 'speaker phone' mode and blasted my ears. OMG, it was so painful. So. . .Zombies here I come!

Tricia- I hope they can relocate the cat. I hate to see any predator killed just for being a meat eater. I may have to get a dog. I love dogs, thats not a terrible burden. Its a good excuse to visit the dog shelter. :p Have you tried the car talk website for advice? There is a forum where you can post questions about all things automotive. I have found them to be helpful. I hope that your car remains in good shape. HIIT is super hard, and Kick max is super fun. I love that one. That reminds me, I should get that out.

Jane-That looks like a great workout.

Alisha

I missed the whole weekend!

Friday was a rest day.

Saturday I did a 5K race in a nearby town. It was for breast cancer. It was a nice race. I ended up finally setting a new 5K PR (my old record was from 2008) so that was cool! Then I ended up getting 2nd place in my age group. YIPPEE!! I stayed away from the food after the race. They had cupcakes, cookies and cake...as well as some bananas.

Sunday I ran 12 miles.

Today will be a mostly cardio based circuit:

Complete 5 rounds of the following circuit doing 40 seconds of work and 20 seconds of rest.
Take a minute rest between rounds.

  • Battling ropes
  • Shuttle Run
  • Crunches, Russian Twist or Ab exercise of choice
  • Jump Rope or JJ
  • Tire Flips

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRICIA!! I hope you have a great day!

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better. Ear infections are terrible. I'm very happy about your dad and hope you can get a job down there as well.

Not much else going on. It's Monday. :(

Hi ladies!

Stephen had the computer down over the weekend while he reworked a different one to a linux system for research and running R stuff. I don't remember the technical term right now!

Alisha - Sorry about the ear infection! Those are the worst! Congrats to your dad for getting a job! Hope you get something soon! I've never been to that area of California. Sorry your phone is deciding to attack you! I can only imagine how painful that had to be! Yay for Zombies! I just downloaded their 5k program! It's bound to be more entertaining than the usual 5k trainers!

Jane - Congrats again on your PR! Thank you for the birthday wish! I've been off since Friday and tomorrow is my last day. :( Back to work on Wednesday.

Stephen got me a nice Canon T3i for my birthday! I'm very excited! There's lots to learn about using it, but my ultimate goal is to use it with my telescope for astrophotography. The Learning Connection here gives a class on that, but I need to take the time to familiarize myself with it and learn how to take regular pics first!

My dad for the first time ever sent me a birthday card and some money so I ordered a few things for the camera like a bag and a gorilla pod and, yes, one more workout program - Tapout XT. It's a martial arts based program that actually uses martial arts moves! So many of them advertise themselves like that, but you get very little martial arts. My BBX program was like that. I was very disappointed. The good thing about this one is it's a 90 day program and you actually get a 90 day guarantee. Most of the time, you only have 30 days and that's not enough time to try out the whole program or even a good chunk of it. I'll let you know how I like it.

I did Leaner Legs today. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow. I was following the October Cathe rotation, but I've wandered off it a little. Mostly just moving stuff around or skipping some and doing strictly cardio.

I'm a little behind on my raw foods program due to the birthday celebration this weekend. Have to get my budget worked out and a grocery list done for next week. Her recipes look really good and are very simple. I like that!

Hope you two had a lovely day!

Oops! Almost forgot! My car has been fine ever since that one event. I think it was driving over all that mess of gravel.
