Tricia ~ I'm glad you had a great birthday and that you got some cool stuff!

The Tapout-XT workouts look like fun! Let me know how you like them. It's nice to hear that your car is working well. Enjoy your last day of vacation.

Hi Alisha!

I took yesterday as a rest day. Today is also a rest day. I'm on cephlaxin which is an antibiotic for my ear infection. I am feeling a little better. The swelling is starting to go down. Its not a normal infection inside the ear, its an infection on the external lobe/side of my face. Its red, it hurts, it could kill me if it made its way to my brain. So, in spite of the weight gain associated with antibiotics, I'm taking the medicine. Oh well, this week is ttotm anyway.

We went to the phone store and ordered my new phone. It won't arrive for two weeks.

Jane- Thats so funny, 'cupcakes, cookies' cake' as well as some bananas. lols. It was only a 5k. Just how many calories do they think you burn? I might get 250 out of it if I really pushed it, more likely 200. I wish cake was only 200 calories.:p
Great job on your PR!!! Good job on yesterday's workout.
Thanks for the encouragement and I'm already feeling a little bit better

Tricia-OMG!!! What a great present! I would love one of those cameras. I've never done astro photography.

Alisha

Its raining. I'm on day 3 of my antibiotics. Its ttotm. I might do a Leslie Sansone DVD this afternoon. Its tricky because I have to eat something with my meds and I have to take them 4x/day. Its hard for me to workout with food in my tummy.

Alisha

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better soon! What kind of phone did you get?

I am going for a 4 mile run tonight. I took the day off because I have vacation time to burn before the end of the year. Mom and I voted and we ran some errands.

Hi Tricia!

My heart rate is too elevated to exercise right now. Tomorrow I will be in Berkeley for an ADA event.

I am being smart. I have reduced my normal meal size by half. Since I have to eat more often because of my med schedule, I am now aiming for 300 calorie meals, not 3 600 calorie meals.

Jane- I got the iph. 5 I have to wait two weeks or it to arrive.

Tricia- Did you get a workout today?

Alisha

I took yesterday as a rest day and am taking a rest day today as well. I have a 10.2K race tomorrow and I want to be fresh for it. I want to get a PR. This is a small race. They have 3 races - a 1 mile, 5K and 10.2K. Last year they had 75 total for all 3 races, with the 10.2K being the smallest at 32 participants. It's in the middle of nowhere but I like to support these smaller races.

Alisha ~ Sweet phone! I will probably get the iPhone 4 because I can get it for free. I have a very old phone.

Hi Tricia!

TGIF!!

Yesterday was a rest day. I have taken a rest week. sigh. Such is the vagueries of antibiotic week. I am going to clean my room today so I can start exercising again. I might do belly dancing today. It depends on how I am feeling. The ear is much improved. The swelling has gone down, most of the redness is gone. Now, I'm dealing with antibiotic weight gain and constipation ouchie. Probiotics here I come. Kefir for breakfast, lunch, and dinner time.

I went to a seminar yesterday about ADA signage. I never knew just how important it was or how complex. Now I know why many signs have multiple versions of the same information. One is for the vision impaired that read braille, one is for the vision impaired that feel raised text, gray scale variation is for the color blind, large text is for those with short vision, and spoken signs (audio) are for the blind who don't read.

My weight loss plan: cardio in the am, log my calories, healthy carbs, calorie cycles, and plenty of yoga.

Jane- How was your race?

Tricia- Hi!!!

I may try some yoga today.

It looks like the two of you aren't available right now. Thats ok. I just won't be posting unless some body is on this check in.

Btw, no hard feelings.:)

I'm here Alisha!!! I just had a busy weekend. Saturday I was gone all day - from 5am until 5pm and then was wiped. I was at mom's all day yesterday.

My 10.2K race on Saturday went well. It is a small race and the weather was nice - overcast and in the 60's. I PR'd the course by over 4 minutes and did 5 minutes better than last year. I took 1st place in my age group but there was only me and my sister in our age group. I like going there because it is so small and the folks really appreciate it. Unfortunately the course is rather desolate and lonely but I had another racer behind me this year that motivated me to stay focused and on track.

Sunday I ran 8 miles. It was suppose to be 6 or 7 miles but we went longer than we intended. I felt pretty good except my hammies were a bit tight. Then I spent the day at mom's. It was only in the 50's yesterday. I miss summer already.

Tonight will be some sort of workout but I haven't figured it out yet.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you are feeling better. I'm sure once the antibotics are out of your system, you'll lose the weight you gained. I hope you get to do yoga today.

Tricia - I hope you are safe.

Our corporate office in New Jersey is closed today due to the storm and I have to get out some proposal tomorrow. It's all finished, I think. I just need to download to CDs and deliver it tomorrow as it is here in town. Nothing like waiting for the last minute. Our VA office usually does the proposals.

Here is my workout from last night:

[FONT=&quot]60 Lunge Steps (30 each leg)
50 Swings
40 Squats
30 Step ups (30 each leg)
20 Sit Ups
10 Push-Ups

Then, 3 Rounds:

7 Squat Jumps
4 Mr. Spectacular
12 Shuffles(3) with a squat

Today will be a rest day.

Hope all is well with you guys.

Happy Halloween ladies!

Sorry I've been MIA again! This time we were having problems with the computer crashing. He thought he had it fixed, then it started up again. Sandy came and went without any damage in our area except for a tree limb across the street coming down, but it didn't disrupt power.

Stephen spent the last 2 days he was home from school fixing it. We are back up and running!

Alisha - I'm sorry you've had an infection! Hope you are better!

Jane - As usual, your workouts are amazing! Glad your 10k went well! Who cares if it was small! Those are the best! Lots of room to run at your own pace!

I started Tapout XT when it came on Monday. We got off work at noon and got to dress down. I came home and Stephen and I went out to run an errand. By the time we got home, the wind was 3x as bad as it had been when I left work. It sounded scary, so between my workout - Cross Core Combat - and the tv, I was okay! It settled down by 9 pm and it was a beautiful day yesterday early, then it clouded up and we got some moderate rain in the afternoon. It should be all gone by noon today or so.

Last night, I did Strength & Force Upper and Ultimate Abs. Wow! Just the first workout had my muscles aching everywhere! I had more muscle recruitment in my lats and chest than during any other workout, even Cathe! Lots and lots of pushups and planks in this program! They only use bands and I could have used a heavier one for the bicep work. Will have to have one handy next time. Tonight is a training run and Plyo XT.

The program follows similarly to P90X and Insanity. I like it so far!

Now that our computer is fixed, I should be on more regularly again! Take care you two! Have a great day!

Any Halloween plans for either of you tonight? Stephen has school and I'll be hiding in the house with the outside lights off!

I'm on my last day of meds. I'm down two pounds, I don't know why. I have been watching my calories very closely. But, I have felt like crud and haven't felt like I could walk to the end of the block, let alone do a workout. I didn't do any yoga, my heart rate and bp was a bit high. I'm hoping that it comes back down after I stop the medicine. But, it could have just been the infection.

I don't have much Halloween plans. I would have if I hadn't gotten sick. There are lots of great parties all over town. I will probably curl up with a good movie.

Tricia-Does Tapout only use bands in that one workout or throughout the whole thing? I may need something that is low impact and requires little gear, I do have the LIS series, my high step, and my gliding discs. I might look into tapout if you like it. I'm so glad that Stephen was able to fix the computer. Tell him I said thank you.

Jane- Congrats on your race. I prefer smaller races, I hate being in a crowd.

Alisha

Alisha - It's better to relax when your HR and BP are up whether from an infection or meds, which I'm sure you know! Hope that all settles back down to normal soon!

Tapout uses the bands in several of the workouts, but the first one it didn't. Not sure how many use them. I suspect it's only in the strength ones, but I'll keep you posted as I progress through.

I'm supposed to be on for Plyo XT tonight, but I'm taking my rest day mid-week instead of on the weekend. I'll pick up with that tomorrow and leave Yoga XT for Friday. That's always a good day for yoga!

It also looked icky out this afternoon like it might rain again and it was getting dark so I didn't run as I did not carry my lights with me today because the weather channel app said it was supposed to clear up! Liars! I'll do my run tomorrow too. Next week I'll have to move to the bike path anyway because of the time change. It will be too dark for street running starting then. Wouldn't want to go squish!

Enjoy your book! I'm going to do the same thing! Turn off the light and read quietly, maybe watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! too! Have a nice quiet night!

Hi Jane! Boo! Hope that didn't scare you!

Happy Day After Halloween!

I ran 3 miles last night it was suppose to be 4 miles but the witches and goblins roaming around the neighborhood scared me! :p

We did not get any kids as per normal. We've never had one trick-or-treater in the 18 years I've lived there, which is fine with me.

Today I am doing a weight workout. 3 Rounds of 12 reps each of:
One-arm dumbbell row
Dumbbell Shrugs
Military Press
Dumbbell Lateral Raise
Standing Hammer Curls
Concentration Curls
Lying Tricep Ext.
Stiff Leg Deadlifts
Calf Raises (w/weight and probably more reps)

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better. At least you are keeping your weight down which is good.

Tricia ~ Last night was the last night of running far away. Next week I will run around the block about 8 times. Even with my headlamp and reflectors, I don't like straying to far.

You did scare me! LOL!! :p

Hope you both have a great day!

Still having problems with our computer! Sorry!

Haven't done anything all weekend as far as workouts go. We went to a wine tasting Saturday and today I baked Stephen cookies. That's about it. Loving the TapouT XT program though! Hope you gals are doing well! Do we have a November thread? I didn't see one.

I forgot to make a November thread. I guess I will make one now. :p

But, I did finally get a workout. I did 3 miles with Leslie Sansone. My heart rate is starting to get better now that I've been off the antibiotics for 4 days. I will do something else tomorrow. I don't know what yet.

We don't get trick or treaters either. We live in a gated community with mountain lions, thats probably not a good recipe for the little ones.;)
