Jogglers June 2012

Its a beautiful day in my neighborhood

Today is a hike/walk and then Solar yoga practice. It was so nice outside. Its been in the 70s and I have the windows open. Tomorrow will be Original Imax and some yoga.

Tricia- I am so glad that you are back!! So sorry about the golfing, the high temps, and the depression. That random crying jag can be a symptom of a deficiency, vit. d usually does it but you are outside all the time so I don't know that it is that one. Cal/Mag/Zinc helps me with my random gyn related moodiness. The thing that helps me the most is a gratitude list, I know that when you are having those overwhelming feelings of sadness and entrapment, it seems like the farthest thing from your mind, just start a list (it can even be in crayon.) I usually start with my cat. But, you could start with Stephen. Or anything really. What it does is it alters the chemistry in your brain. Also, my favorite treatment for depression (even with tears streaming down my face) is yoga, it too alters brain chemistry.

I don't mean to list options because I think that you are dumb, haven't thought of it, or that you don't have good reason to be upset, I'm only offering what I have found to work for me in the past because I hate to see someone else suffer longer than they need to, least of all you.

Jane- Pertussis (aka whooping cough) has had a resurgence in adults and does not show up with its tell tale sound of 'whooping', but rather it shows as a persistent cough. Two ladies that my Mom works with have it. You might want to get tested for it, its easy to treat.

As Eric on Gardenfork says, "Make it a great day!!"

Hi Alisha!

Thanks for the suggestions! No matter how obvious they might seem, sometimes I just get such tunnel vision that I can't find any outs. I appreciate you and the ideas!

Glad the weather has been nice! We're getting it back too! Thank goodness! I hate those 90s temps! Ugh.

I heard whooping cough was coming back, too! Sounds awful!

Enjoy your walk/jog and yoga today!

I'm anxiously awaiting my seeds to. Sprout and grow! I doubt it's going to happen today, but I'm very excited! Looking forward to some home-grown veggies! I regret that I didn't like veggies way back when my mom had her garden ages ago!

Hi Jane! Hope your day is going well and you haven't floated away!

This morning is the original Imax. I haven't done that in forever. I hope I can do most of it.

Sigh, I put back on my two pounds over the weekend. Why does it take two days to put on two pounds and two weeks to take it off?

Tricia-How is the garden?

Jane- Hi!

Alisha

Good Morning from the Soggy Southeast!

It's been raining on and off since Sunday. Nothing major but Debby is suppose to make an appearance in our area sometime later in the week if that's what she is planning. Right now she is sitting stationary trying to make up her mind. Our power at work has already been out once already. It's not really bad and winds have not been a major problem...just rain.

On Saturday I did the following workout:
100 Push ups
150 Swings
200 Step ups
250 Jump Rope (I think)
1x around the block doing farmer's walk with 2-18# kb with my sister

Sunday was a 8 mile run.

Today will be an upper body workout but most likely inside.

Tricia ~ {{{Hugs}}}...I think what you experience might be menopause. That happened to be about a month or so ago and then the next day Aunt Flo came by for a brief visit (1 day). It took me by surprise because I never get like that and haven't felt that way in a long time. I've been skipping periods too (which is very nice).

Is your house air conditioned?

Alisha ~ I am doing much better. I still have some congestion when I wake up in the morning but it clears out quickly. I still have coughing but it's mostly at night and not severe so I'm not too concerned.

You can get those 2 pounds off right now especially doing IMAX.

Have a great day!

Alisha - That stinks! It's so not fair that we have to work so hard to get rid of it and can look at food and put in back on! :(

Maybe it's just water and it'll fall right back off! We can hope, right?

The garden is doing fine. It got lots of water today with the storms we had earlier. Some of my seeds floated up and this evening I gently poked them back down. I hope they survive! Also, I think my lettuces are already starting to sprout! I could be wrong, but they actually look like they're putting out tiny little somethings. Can lettuce grow that fast? We shall see! I really don't want to fail at this!

So much for gardening being therapeutic! I think it's stressing me out more!

Jane - Hope Debby moves along soon! I remember when we flooded in Albany due to a tropical storm that settled over us for a few days. It was horrible. You probably remember that if you were there in the 90s.

Things are getting a bit weird with my cycle even though I'm on a pill that only gives me a period every 3 months. I love that, but I'm having longer spotting times at the end and really horrible cramping again. Well, I'll find something out, hopefully, when I go on the 10th to my doctor.

We only have window units for air conditioning. Why? Curious about that one!

KPC tonight after work. I almost didn't do it. Started feeling bad again and just wanted to lay down, but I fought it off. This afternoon, my boss asked me to change my lunch hour to 12 instead of 12:30. Apparently, it's too much for his girlfriend (my co-worker) to set her lunch break at 1:30 even though that's when she usually goes anyway. His reasoning is that there's no one to cut checks after a closing if I'm at lunch and my co-worker goes at 1:30. He thinks it'll be better if 2 of us go at 12 and 2 go at 1. Fine. Whatever. At noon, I'm out from now on no matter what's going on and no matter what anyone needs or wants. I always end up accommodating and I'm done. Of course, I have to be careful because I need my job due to our situation, so I'm pretty much stuck and can't be ugly or demanding.

There was something else and I have forgotten already. I need a younger brain!

Oh, yeah! We were on our way to play golf and my husband and I were talking about stuff. He says that he knows that I want to take a year off when he starts working (he already said that was fine), but that he thinks I'll be happier when we have the money to go on vacation and do things. He didn't directly say it, but it was like he was telling me that I won't be taking my year off. I really wanted to say something, but I didn't want to end up fighting or in a bad mood before golf. I couldn't believe he went there! I'm not staying in that job and I'm taking my year off!!:mad:

I've earned it and then some!

Whew!

One of these days, I promise, I won't have anything to complain about!

Maybe I'll scrounge up $50 and take a short term pole dancing class or something this fall just to get out of the house one night a week and let my mind get away from all this stress! Reading, music, movies and workouts used to take me away in my head, but none of that works anymore. I need a new escape!

Well, I'm going to go find something to watch - speaking of movies - until the semi-professor gets home from teaching tonight!

Have a good one! I'm glad Monday is over! 4 more to go!

The rain has stopped and the sun is trying to come out. For some reason it is super windy right now. Lots of places along the coast have terrible flooding. I hope everyone makes out alright. It looks like we are in the clear as Debby is heading east across the state and then out to sea.

I am taking a rest day today. I did an upper body workout inside yesterday. It's so hard to workout in the house. I'm so used to working out in the yard. I considered working out under the carport but it was all wet and can be slippery at times and besides all that it pouring.

Tricia ~ I do remember the flood that Albany had in the 1990s. That was horrible!

I asked about the a/c because I remember you saying earlier how hot it was and I didn't know if your house had a/c. I know that many houses in the north don't. The house I grew up in didn't have central air until my dad put it in, so I was just wondering.

Sorry about the argument with your hubby. When the time comes, you guys really need it sit down and talk about the pros and cons. I would love to take a year off but I don't see that happening until I retire...in about 17 years!!! My friend is a school psychologist and she gets 6 weeks off in the summer. I'm so jealous. I can't even imagine being off for 6 weeks. I think I took off about 2 weeks after I moved here but nothing longer than that since I was in my 20.

Hi Alisha!

Hi Girls,

I am going for a 4 mile run tonight after work. It's beautiful outside...lots of sunshine and blue skies. It's going to be drier for the next couple of days so hopefully I can make it to the pool this weekend.

Have a great day!

Evening ladies!

I took a sick day today, just for a break. Haven't had a day off since Christmas. It's been nice! I got my workout done around 10:30. I did Low Impact Challenge, washed the bathrooms and watched tv.

Jane - Glad Debby is gone and you didn't get it too bad in your neck of the woods! I would love to workout outside, but won't because my neighbors on both sides can see into my yard and I just don't want them ogling. Creepy. Besides, I hate them both so much! Of course, if I were out there doing Ju Jitsu or something and cracking skulls, maybe they'd leave me alone! lol

It wasn't much of an argument because I kept my mouth shut. We have 3 more years, so I'm going to try to just focus on each day, get what I need to do done, sleep and cross them off one at a time. When he gets a job, we'll have that conversation. We'll know where we're going, if anywhere, and what the numbers will be, and all the decisions can be made.

Glad you'll be able to get a run in finally! Enjoy!

I did not go grocery shopping today. Didn't want to chance it. It'd be my luck that the one time I go where no one I know shops, someone will on a whim drop in for something! I'll do it later.

My friends from DC is hopefully coming up this weekend! That will be great! I hope it doesn't fall through this time!

Jane, thanks for the tip on my garden. I did my best and I have more green leafies poking out today! Yay! I'm hoping to see some of my bell pepper, chocolate sweet peppers and tomatoes start poking out soon. I have spinach, my lettuce blends sprouting, not my kale yet oddly and I think one cucumber, one or two zucchini showing, no squash yet either.

Hi Alisha!

I've had a less than stellar day. I was rear ended in a parking lot. The guy who hit me was really nice and there doesn't seem to be much damage. But, I'm starting to feel just a little bit agoraphobic. :(

I had to take today and yesterday as a rest day because I had a seminar, one day about payroll law and the next about management. Tomorrow may be a rest day because I have to take the care to be assessed at Gamboas. I kind of feel like c-ap. I am a bit shook up. I hope to be back at my workouts by Friday. Its a good thing I did workouts earlier in the week. I've banked two good workouts. Frankly, I feel depressed.

I will catch up on personals tomorrow, needless to say, I heart you both and look forward to the new workouts coming out. (although, I think Tabata might be over my head.)

Alisha

Alisha ~ {{{HUGS}}}. I hope you feel better today. Please feel blessed that no one was injured. You just need to bet back out there and you'll be fine.

Here was last night's workout. It doesn't look like much but my heart rate was soaring. I used a 45# kb for swings and a 25# for everything else. I used 2-18# kb for the farmers walk.

Max # of rounds in 15 minutes
10 Squats
10 Push ups
5 - Deadlifts - R
5 - Deadlifts - L
I did 8 rounds
Then
Max # of rounds in 15 minutes
5 - one-arm rows - R
5 - one-arm rows - L
5 - Halos - R
5 - Halos - L
10 Swings
I did 6 Rounds
Then farmers walk around the block alternating with my sister.

I'm not sure what I'm doing tonight. I will post later when I figure it out.

I'm sure your garden will be great! My sister in Illinois has a plot in a park district (she pays for it) and plants strawberries, garlic and a bunch of other stuff. She spends 5-6 hours out there all the time. Of course, she doesn't work so she can do that.

I hope you have a great time with your friend from DC.

Alisha ~ {{{Hugs}}} again. I hope you are alright. Please check in and let us know how you are doing.

I am so glad there were no injuries! I understand how that makes you feel somewhat afraid to get out there again! It will be okay. Sending you healing energy!

Jane - great workouts! I love that with the raised beds I don't have to spend that much time! The soil looks much better today! I'm waiting until tonight to water as we may get a thunderstorm this morning and I want to wait and see if we get some rain. If not, I'll water tonight, but only for about 3-5 minutes! Everything but my peppers, tomatoes and carrots are coming up now. Not sure why those aren't. Of course, it still hasn't been a full week yet since I planted! Lol

Not sure what I'll do for a workout tonight. I really need to go grocery shopping! We shall see.

Have a great Friday!

Tricia- I love gardening!! I would need to put in a green house to protect my produce from the deer and rabbits. Thanks for the healing energy.

Jane- Thanks for the hugs!! Great job on your workout.

Well, I appear to be ok. I took yesterday as a yoga day. I did Cathe's Yoga relax. I really like the timesaver premixes. She does this one pose where you lie on your back and 'rock back and forth like a happy baby' that cracks me up, I don't think I've done that one since I was a happy baby:eek:

This morning I will do some taebo, Shred it with weights (KBs); and finish up with the time saver step premix from SJP. I will weigh in tomorrow.

Alisha

Here is tonight's workout. It's going to be hot...but whatever!

Descending Runs *
10 KB Front Squat/Front Kick
10 Lateral Jumps over Sandbag
Jump Rope/Jumping Jacks (125, 100, 75, 50, 25)

then:

21 - 15 - 9 rep rounds of:

Double Kettlebell Press
Pull ups

Swings

finish with: 3 rounds of

:30/:30 bridges
:30/:30 Planks

The descending runs are based on my neighborhood so the longest will be about 600m and the shortest around 100m (approximately).

We have very cute bunnies that eat my grass and often there are 2 of them but those little buggers were eating my flowers so when I catch them doing it, I have to go outside and yell at them. I hate doing it because they are so cute.

Alisha - So glad you're feeling better! I love that happy baby pose, too! I'm using the greenhouse cover to keep the pups out, plus any other critters that happen through our yard, which I'm sure we have because the beags get really barky and rowdy out there sometimes and that only means one thing . . . hunting!

Jane - That one looks good! I would hate to have to yell at the bunnies. Golfing last night there was a bunny right at the base of the tee area and he sat there the whole time we all teed off! I found myself talking to him! lol

BTW, all the white stuff is gone from the garden! Yay! I shall water sparingly tonight.

Slacked on my workout tonight. Just want to veg, as usual. I have got to get myself together again! It will happen. Waiting for Cathe's July rotation. Going to do that with my running.

New New New Thread Thread

Jane- I hate it when critters eat my flowers!! Great job on your workout.

Tricia-I used to do rotations, now I just do want I want to do. I try to get enough days/week but often its just 4 days/week because of my schedule or because I burned my butt doing a Cathe workout:p When you just feeling like vegging out, try doing just a short yoga routine. That revs up the metabolism without stressing out an already stressed out body. And no shoes required.

Yesterday was our cool day. I took it for a rest day because I was so sore from Saturday's run. Yikes, those hills!!! I'm back to calorie counting. I'm ok so long as I get enough healthy fats otherwise I'm 'Hungry-the-bunny'. This morning I will do some yoga and this afternoon I will do Michelle Dozois' 'Rockin' Body Cardio Jam.' Its Hi/Lo + Kick boxing. I will do something tomorrow, I don't know what yet.

Alisha

Btw, new thread. I forgot today was July 2.
